So you plan to create an Omambala ethnic group and reduce us to inconsequential minority, like those Igboids?
You want to ruin the great works of our heroes past like Zik, Okpara, Nzimiro, Akanu Ibiam, etc did in uniting our people.
It will not work for you.

Igwebuike is an ancient wisdom of our forefathers. Also Izu ka nma na Nne ji is another one.
We bear names like IGBOerika, Igboesika, Igbokwe, Igboachu, etc.
What you suggest is not wisdom.
The funny part about this madness is that nkpor or obosi people will kill you if you dare call their town Onitsha. But Nike man is Ok with enugu. Nekede is kull with Owerri. Osisioma is kull Aba. Obollo afor is Ok with Nsukka. Whither the monolithic anambra?

But why can't we have a Nigerian Culture/Music that will be a mosaic of Fulani, Hausa,Igbo, Edo, Nupe,Yoruba, Igala etc?

The English music industry/culture is a mix of Anglo-Saxon, Roman, Vikings, Norman, Celtic and French culture.

InyinyaAgbaOku:

The avoidance of Igbo made them not to know Ifunanya was a bomb and the hit track for one of the albums.
Who would believe they would wear isiagu in their lives till that 'nobody ugly ' song.
Even Black face from Benue was able to sing 'Erinma '. Timaya could sing 'Ogologo mma agha ', all before 2008 and they aren't even Igbos.

In all we do, let's not forget to thank Nigger Raw, Slow Dogg, Dekumzy, Flavour, even Desperate Chicks . They are the ones who did the dirty jobs and risked their business fortunes to introduce Igbo to the world via pop music when Igbo pop music wasn't a thing.
Now, Phyno and Zoro have a smooth ground to play around . Not forgetting Illbliss and Wizboy.
Today, anyone can actually sing in Igbo and it will oversell if well marketed . In fada fada, Olamide sang some lines in Igbo too. It was never like that.
The one that shot himself in the foot is Humblesmith who allowed his good song to be trashed by Davido with his childish antics and lyrics. The song became irrelevant after the Momodu saga ended. I warned against that.

But if you ask me to give that lifetime achievement award of Igbo contemporary music , I will be confused.
Flavour is unopposed for the singing part. He has stopped being vulgar too. Wonderful combination.
For rap, it will be a tie between Mr Raw and Phyno.
Raw introduced it and made us know it's possible, but Phyno is so smooth in flow that it became popular. I also don't like that Phyno doesn't rap as such again. Or maybe I am not current . Zoro has richer rap lyrics than Phyno these days...
Igbo music has come a long way.

We will take over like we always do, some day

Because Nigeria is not a nation. It's an artificial creation.
We don't have Nigerian culture.
But we have Igbo nation and Igbo culture, and that's all we are interested in promoting and protecting on this thread.

Thanks.

Evening guys,

We in the era of promoting disruptive innovation,
Femi adayemo's arnergy is a huge helping hand out of the bunch tryna create a paradigm shift from the norm,

People are beginning to appreciate the flipside of living off the grid.

Like this newly built adamma hostel in ihiagwa, a suburb in owerri, things are evolving.would love to see more of us keying into the alternative revolution,

Hope we all making plans to become fluent in the new universal language - " coding"

Why does this only happen to Igbo groups. Why are we this too clannish.
Yorubas in Kogi don't behave that way. And Yorubas in SW don't hold tenaciously to their state tags like Ndiigbo do.
The Hausas in NW are same Hausas in NE and NC, No distinction.

It looks like we are always in constant look out for things to hold unto to emphasize distinction from our fellow Igbos. We are too easy to uphold artificial identities.

Look at how Tinubu( from Osun), Ambode (from Ondo) are ruling Lagos, and Aworis are not crying , swearing and threatening the rest of Yorubas. But just Nzimiro mayorship of Ph, was too much for Ikwerres to endure.

I'm beginning to think that Igbo unity project is a waste of time. Maybe it's about time I gave up and spent my time on other useful ventures.

I agree with every word here, but it's funny that if I was the one that made these exact statements about Igbo clannishness, I'd be accused by many of being "Igbophobic" or an "afonja".

Well, personally, I wouldn't accept my town to become subdued and named after another town. Afamefuna biko.
I have no qualms with Nekede and even Orji people accepting the Owerri tag, or With Nike, Awkunanaw people, accepting the Enugu tag( but notice that the Ngwo part of the Enugu-Ngwo, had to be removed for Nike and Awkunanaw people to accept that tag). They must have their reasons for that. I also wonder how Towns in Nnewi South that are not part of Nnewi town, agreed to accept that Nnewi South name, I felt they should have created a new name for themselves, when they were carved out from the old Nnewi LGA. To each group ,their own.

But I personally wouldn't accept Ogidi becoming named Onitsha, instead a new name should be shopped for the new city covering Onitsha, Obosi, Nkpor, Ogidi, Ozeh, Okpoko.
They are currently using "greater Onitsha" for the whole new cluster of developing towns around Onitsha city.

There is elements of truth in it.
what we now call Yoruba people for instance is a fusion of ancient aboriginal peoples living in Southwest Nigeria +the invading Oduduwa group +Bini people+Some Nupe +Some Fon people.
They have now coalesced into a great ethnic group, The YORUBA people.

Similarly, the Igbo people is a fusion of Igala +Bini+ Efik+ Ijaw etc

At the bold, I hope you know this twisted logic can also be used against us.

Nigerians can say that all ethnic groups in Nigeria have been interacting with each other over centuries and that with time, all groups in Nigeria will merge as one. Hence, there is no need for Biafra.

Infact, some Hausa Fulanis like Mohammed Haruna are already pushing this logic as basis for Nigerian unity not being negotiable.

Again , you should know better,we have a different social organization from the yoruba, and I hope it remains so. I dont want to be an Imo governor neither do I want an Imollite to govern Anambra. And yes , Igbo unity project is a danm waste of time. The smartest thing is to to return home and join hands to build Anambra and from there we can dispatch.
Nri Priest, you will never change. I admire your stance concerning this Omanbala identity. But why don't you make it an Eri/Nri belt affair. Like promoting this consciousness around the Anambra East/ Anambra West/ Oyi/ Njikoka/Awka North and South/Anaocha and to an Extent Idemili North and South that is if they accept it. This belt share a lot in common in dialect, proximity and cultural practices. Why extent the Omanbala identity to Anambra South Senatorial district who are for centuries both in language, proximity, marriage rites and custom identical to Ndi Isu of Imo and Abia. It surprise me a lot because as an Isu man myself, we should be the one clamouring for an authouchtonous Isu identity that encompasses our people everywhere, but we don't do such. Why are you folks from your section trying to co-opt our kinsfolks into your Omanbala charade. A dream that won't work.
We Isu's don't go about trying to create an Isu origin nonsense for all Igbo clans, neither do we go about creating a new identity for ourselves. We believe that the Igbo identity supersedes all others and that a boundary drawn by man cannot divide our heritage.

Not that it is bad to retain the identity of your towns but that's the proof of lack of homogeneity in that area. Not saying you have committed abomination by rejecting onitsha tag

You amuse me with this your reasoning.
Don't underestimate Gombe , Zamfara or any people for 'Times and chance happen to them all'

States like Texas are like 12times bigger than states like New Jersey, Delaware, etc.
No Nigerian group will ever support anything that would profit Ndiigbo. They are all wired to be Igbophobic by default, so why should we think about what they think about our demand? We simply state and push for our demands.
It's simple as that.
Adada, Aba, Etiti, Njaba, etc states, will all have more valuable human resources than the entire Zamfara and Gombe combined. How about that?

It's pan Igboism at work.
Patience Ozokwor and Chiwetalu Agu are also from Udi Enugu, and they all speak that dialect cluster in Anambra I spoke of in their movies.

You should try being a pan Igboist, rise above your clannish tendency and see all parts of Igboland as one.
You should be like Ozokwor and co..
Ojukwu left Omambala and nested in Enugu, Victor Umeh nests in Enugu, Arthur Eze nests in Enugu, and countless others. Because when it comes to real estate, Enugu is number 1 in Igboland.
Same reason Enugu people speak that Dialect cluster from Anambra central, because it's the lightest and easiest Igbo dialect. It's sweet and pleasant to any Igbo ear.

It's not inferiority complex . It's pan Igboism.

That is pidgin igbo with roots from few anambra towns. Its highly simplified. Every body speaks it. Anambra have no large lingo-cultural group hence the current madness of forcing anambra homogenous identity
