Hell no it doesn't ! America still remains the world super power and the boss of everyone. Canadians and Scandinavians still move over to America to pursue their dreams.

On the contrary, we are talking about HDI here not dreams.

OMG! What is this? The funniest thing is that this starvation was not even caused by any form of political instability. This is unimaginable.

@mtisTheQubit, Yobeezy, Jay254, gallivant, Jonraid, TayserMahiri ? Is this what you call a country?

Niger republic, Nigeria's northern neighbour is 90% desert by landmass, yet their citizens do not starve. What excuse do Kenyans have for starving for heaven's sake? Kenya is a joke.

There's no difference between you and that Tanzanian slowpoke, you people are being blinded by old news published long ago.
To be honest, the last time Kenya was stricken with severe drought and hunger was back in 2011 until of late there has been rare cases related to starvation, this has been attributed by improved agriculture in the northern arid regions and devolution too has helped alot here.
What's shocking is that Turkana the region which has been under severe drought is developing faster than the whole of the lazy nation called Tanzania, devolution and oil that was discovered some few years ago will further change the face of Turkana.
Am very sure, starvation is a problem in Africa in all countries including the so called 'giant' of Africa,by the way Nigeria even has the highest malnutrition rate in the world,100 millions of you are living in extreme poverty.
It's the same with Tanzania,it can't achieve 100% food sustainability despite the Tanzanian fool keeps on whining madly about Kenya as if their country is an haven.

BBC to Unveil Largest New Center in Nairobi

BBC is set to have its biggest office branch in the world hosted in Nairobi.

A tweet by BBC business editor Larry Madowo stated that the office will be the biggest outside the UK.

The BBC in Africa is set to launch the bureau together with a studio that will operate in Kenya.

The Tanzanian fool is now bitter,he'll come here with negative news related to Kenya, just wait.

3.Benefits that CBK accrues by having excess reserves.

If you mean VAT reforms that have been ongoing - then no effect - if you mean taxation of transactions - I see minimal effect - the biggest impact we shall see if from removal or lowering of interest capping for deposits - now banks will be able to mobilize more deposits and their spread (profit) will increase.Financial markets - if you mean NSE - I don't see coming out of the woods soon - unless gov start selling off some of it's parastals through IPOS and bring in new investors. Foreign investor will have to come back big time but they can't with IMF scare mongering about Kshs being over-valued and debt concerns - all are baseless unfounded propaganda.

Excess reserves - mean stronger Kshs. It been CBK policy to devalue Kshs to 100shs and it reached that sweat pot about 3yrs ago - and I don't see that changing - CBK will defend kshs at 100shs to a dollar for some time.

O/T but relevant. Who here's in the US? I see a major shift to the Republicans in tomorrows midterms. Many Blacks, habitual Democrats by nature have also walked away towards Trump surprising as it may sound. IIRC,his popularity has risen 50% this year as their unemployment levels are the lowest in 20 years.

Thank you bro,I was just thinking of the same points before I threw this question to the house especially for financial institutions and excess reserves.
On the part of financial markets like capital and money markets or even NSE,do you think there will be a fall in liquidity trap that will reduce private savings and assets of those financial markets?
Re: Kenya Is Ahead of Nigeria In All Aspect (Facts Don't Lie) by Jonraid(m): 6:46pm On Nov 05, 2018
I see some effect but it won't be big enough.I'm rooting for a big things coming 2019 and by the end of this quarter of the year .The private sector should be getting more and more better.Banks profits are steady, more remittances is pouring in and the private sector is rebounding...I RECKON WE WOULD BE AT A BETTER POSITION THOUGH without some of the taxes and policies like the cap ratting and increase in transactions fees in banks and other digital platforms.I agree with the CBK governor that the cap ratting directive should be scrapped, there is no need of having a policy that stifles credit access to SME'S and businesses. However, there still should be oversight to avoid banks taking advantage of Kenyans. With the political calm, the financial markets in Kenya should be healthy and should increase because of increasing in activity in both the private and the public sector.Huge reserves should mean more protection of the shilling especially this time when the US economy has strengthened a bit. With remittances inching to 2 billion dollar a year,I see no/less starvation of dollars into the economy. The tax amnesty might be an unlikely source of foreign exchange that this economy needs which will inject more liquidity into our markets and encourage investments !

In short and generally, and I stand to be corrected. Mainly it was meant to fill up the budget deficit for a good intentions, but it'll have negative and positive effects in almost equal measure....
On the positive side, it'll enable the government to implement it's "big four agenda", and there for improving the general quality of life... it'll also come round with the negatives, it raises the cost of living, reduces purchasing power, I also doubt if we'll be on the same'good'position on ease of doing business next year, in other words FDI might drop unless they introduce more attractive incentives.
For instance, the law scraps 150 per cent investment deduction currently available to investors constructing buildings or installing machinery outside Nairobi...such won't encourage foreign investors.

In the long run it'll have more positives than negative tho', esp in housing, insfrustructure and universal health cover....

It's hard to predict. In Kenya, something like just tea bonus payments can bring forward surprises!

https://www.nation.co.ke/business/Tea-bonus-pay-raises-money-market-liquidity/996-4833024-5mulvp/index.html

Things should be good with tourism being back on foot, the ever growing remittances and modest amount of exports!

Well preserved hominin fossils dating to as early as 2.1 million years have been discovered. These include such genus as Australopithecines and Homo. Stone tools dating to almost two million years have also been discovered. Other important discoveries in this area are evidence of the earliest humanly controlled fire, fossil fauna and flora such as the petrified forest found at Alia Bay, as well as fossil footprints of hominids and different species of fauna...
