Even with the $18.48 per hour I am currently earning, I still told my supervisor in the last bi-weekly One-on-One meeting we had last week that I am not happy with what I earn and insisted I want an increase and she promised to get me a raise in February of 2019.

Minimum wage in US is around $7/hr. You are earning way more than that.
So what you earn ain't minimum.
Secondly, there is this misconception about minimum wage.
Everyone have been confused to to think ALL workers earn 20k/month. That is a fallacy.
There are millions more who earn far higher according to their level.
Example, gate men and security men in an organisation earn "minimum wage" while entry level graduates earn far more both in public and private enterprise. Thanks.

A minimum wage is the lowest remuneration that employers can legally pay their workers and should not be lower than an average Olosho's pay per night. But in Nigeria reverse is the case.

nearly got it there there but not quite sir

Lemme borrow a leaf from one of the commenters.

Minimum wage is the barest wage enough to wage our life from rolling away into the valley of death.

Nigerians are saying the weight of life is now too heavy that most people can't be waged anymore by the meager they collect.

But the govt. is saying if we give u more wage it my get heavier up here and the Weight would collapse us all into the valley of death but we will check and see how much more weight we can contain up here, then what to add to ur wage.

Good story!
