Ironically I hardly follow our local league. I think it is due to our poor pitches and result in poor plays. There was a brief time I liked Lobi Stars when they had some brilliant young talents including Greg Etafia the goalie, Sunday Ibeji (highly skillful midfielder) and Emma Issah who was a lethal left footed forward.

Followed Eagle Cement Fc (later named Dolphins) when they reached the challenge Cup finals. Then briefly 3SC when Baldwin Bazuaye was there. Apart from that, nothing.

Even now, I have no idea what is going on.

Bros this is like late 90s to very early 2000s u are talking about. But u no mention ur main man Emmanuel Ebiede.

Haha. So you still did not follow the People's Elephants of 2002/03 to mid 2000s? That team became almost as Popular as the SEs then o.

Ebiede (the waist breaker) was because of Port Harcourt and the Sharks hay days I knew his name. If I tell you I never watched Ebiede play a full game for Sharks FC, you will not believe me. Even when my friends used to go to Sharks Stadium and come back raving about Ebiede, I did not watch.

I got to watch Ebiede in a Shell RA Super Eagles scrimmage game in Port Harcourt and I was hooked. You need to see skills and how he was skinning Taribo and Uche. Unfortunately, he did not even make the bench for the main game despite thrilling a lot of Nigerians in Port Harcourt with his mesmerizing skills. That was how I started following him and catching some clips of him.

Henry is learning the hard way that punditry and coaching are two very different things.
He's not even a stellar pundit to begin with. Being a good assistant coach doesn't also equal to being a good head coach.

Being a good assistant coach is a good pathway to becoming a good coach. Ask Mourinho. Other backroom staff that did well are Villas-Boas and Brendan Rodgers.

Actually his punditry has shown to be suspect at times.
G Neville who I consider a better pundit flopped big time.
It wouldn't surprise me if Henry flops too.

Gary Neville flopped because he took a very big step relying a lot on his tactical intelligence. He also gave up too early. He should give it another shot. The Spanish League was too far a step, considering he lacked ideas of their footballing culture.

Hmm... Ebiede. We in Lagos then were hearing his name especially those of us in the Amukoko/Orile/Ajegunle neighborhood. But, when the opportunity came for him with the 1995 Flying Eagles he didn't really perform as expected.

Ebiede is one we missed. What I saw him do took my breath away. Repeatedly, Uche and Taribo touched ground. I do not know why he did not have a big break. The closest was when he was at Heerenveen, Holland. I remember the joy in Port Harcourt when he signed for them. But, still did not excel.

Eyah, try watch that game.

We were proud of Nigerian football that night. Emeka Okpala and Austin Ejide played for Etoile Du Sahel.

While for Enyimba Enyeama kept for most of the game and Ayenugba (the cat) was brought in for the penalty shoot outs.

That game should be on YouTube, try get it.

Onyekuru involved in baby mama scandal. He's accepted the paternity, but shut out the mother for long. Now Her lawyer would have to follow him to his match to try collect €11,000.

What nonsense is this one na?

He's in a foreign land why cant he just Try En keep this low instead of making it go this far?

Man must enjoy sha....

Talent wey full everywhere that time. For players like Richard Owubokiri, and Chris Ohenhen not to break in it tells a lot about the competition then.

Furman is injured

I would put Dean Furman in the midfield but I agree with Khune, That guy has the best delivery in football, a complete keeper.

We are talking of insane brilliance on the ball. The likes of OwuBlow and Ohenhen did not have such brilliance. Ebiede was a treat for the eyes. Sad he was also in the same era of Okocha and Oruma.

Lol! I can also identify with that hot shiit thing. That moment when you applied a wrong formula to do some calculations and the results from those calculations are used as inputs to other calculations like chains like that. Only for you to realize u used a wrong formula from the start. O boy, belle go fes worry you, next thing shiit go hold u and finally you no go see road again and all ur body go begin shake, next thing na serious sweat. Omo school no be beans o. Lol.

Na lie.

Ebiebe that I saw at the 1995 AYC held at the Onikan stadium, Lagos was no where near this thing u are saying. He was no where near the class of Oruma and Kanu then talkless of Okocha.

Back then in Abia, Enyimba was placed ahead of the super eagles. No one missed Enyimba matches. Almost every home got an antenna for that and always willing to throw gates open for the less privileged who couldn't afford the antenna. Every kid wanted to be a star of Enyimba when he grows up. It was crazy, Ekene Ezenwa, The one-eyed Okemini, Obinna Nwaneri, Enyeama(agwo ojoo), Tyavkase, Atanda et al were some of the few names we called ourselves while having our kick-abouts. Anybody wey miss that moment, sha missed the best Nigerian soccer(club wise) ever.
