Icon4s: The Ebiede I watched in Shell Camp was that breath taking. How do you think he earned the nickname waistbreaker? I did not understand it until I saw him in action. No lie. |

Icon4s: He was also famed for having a keen eye for spotting talents and helped in nurturing stars like former Nigeria U20 midfielder, Emmanuel “Inikoir” (waist-breaker) Ebiede as well as Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) stars like Odinga Odinga, Victor Ezeji and Super Eagles captain, Joseph Yobo. http://thenationonlineng.net/wejinya-honoured-again/ Keep in mind a lot of young people used to troop to watch him play. As I said, I did not watch much of him but that performance in a scrimmage game was scintillating. |

Alfryd: If I had my way, I would start both Chukwueze and Success. Success is a true no.9. He is cerebral, physical, passes well, shoots fine, selfless plus his positional sense(makes good runs, as and when due) Kalu is a good player plus he is my boy, u all know it, but the Chukwueze I saw against Levante is a rare gem, besides, Kalu really hasn't covered himself wt glory. Chucks opens up play(opposition defense) with ease, plays with guile(highly unpredictable) and he exudes confidence. He does his thing like Sala with his cultured left foot by running at defenses, cutting inside to either release a shot or tee up a better placed mate, ala the back heel to Ekambi. I love his style 2 Likes |

TheGoodJoe: Ebeide had serious potential, don't know what happened. Still remember Festus Okuonghae (poor man's Okocha) and Manga Mohammed (Okocha on Steroids). Talents were dripping between 1994-1997. We are getting back to that era gradually. 1 Like |

TheGoodJoe: Bros forget Shell Camp football. Ebiede was not exceptional at the AYC, where it mattered most for his career then. Another flop of that tournament was Olumide Harris who was the highest goal scorer in the Nigerian league then. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by Icon4s(m): 5:56pm On Nov 07, 2018 |
Truidstar: Manga Mohammed was more like Tijani Babangida. What went wrong then for some of those talented players are still going wrong with some young talented prospects today. Not all young prospects progress well to Senior level. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 5:58pm On Nov 07, 2018 |
Icon4s: Not being exceptional is not a dismissal of talent. AYC 1995 was a poor outing for the whole team. Keep in mind, apart from the AYC, the young man was still on the corners of the Super Eagles as a #10 for a while, which is not a mean fit. I can not remember but keep in mind he played the #10 role for the Carlsberg winning team which had promising talents. It takes a special talent to get in such a list. |

Icon4s: His first major problem is that he got embroiled in a club Warri Wolves, Rangers plus agent and Chairman then it was Amaju CONTENTION. Sunday Mba needed a good club to progress with but the politics of who go chop fir him head stifled his career. I am sure he at the time didn't know that Reading fc who were in the EPL at the time were very interested in him. So the end result his best years were lost to football politics. And now he is doing enough to get paid. |

TheGoodJoe: Bros Emmanuel Ebiede was talented no doubt. But u are just hyping him. When even Wilson Oruma was playing second fiddle to Okocha. Ebiede was only considered at the 1998 Calsberg Cup. And that was all. |

Icon4s: How did I hype him? I said something like too bad he was in the era of Okocha and Oruma. Meaning the talents of these two players Eclipsed Ebiede's relevance. I wonder how that equates to hyping. |

Icon4s: If I am correct, the Calsberg call came during the time Heerenveen signed Ebiede. He was in the spotlight as one of the Nigerian players playing at a good level of the game. After the Calsberg game, Ebiede was called to camp but did not make the final list due to... You guessed right Okocha and Oruma. To be considered amongst the Super Eagles then is a testament of his talent. As I said, unlike most of my friends who used to troop to Sharks Stadium for years to watch him, I got to watch him play and he was class. |

Icon4s: I do not know Argentine league in an out. Just a fan of Argentine players and playing style due to my love for skillful Tip tap football. A fan of River Plate, and follow their arch rivals Boca Juniors. Boca Juniors do not play the sleek football of River Plate. Liked independiente because of Insua (He was in Nigeria 99). But not watched much lately. A taste of River Plate: Imagine how young Lamela was wearing the #10 shirt of River Plate. Young man should have signed for Barcelona when he had the chance. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ux5qrDydlB8 |
