A match that took place how many weeks ago?

That led to a goal... i remember it now because it was important and Kelechi has that in his locker..

Has what in his locker? Is that a goal or an assist or what?

What do you call a shot that hit the bar before another person kicked it in? grin.

Well who says we must play with a 10?

A good tactician chooses the best formation to suit his available resources. So, for me, if Iwobi is out, no more no. 10. Simple and short.

Bros, national teams rarely play 4-4-2 these days. It is mainly 4-5-1(or its variants) or 4-3-3 and any of these will require a number 10 even if u play 3-4-3 or 3-5-2.

In the absence of Mikel and Iwobi, Iheanacho can step into the number 10 position. Though it is not his ideal position but he has to if he needs to.

Oga forget it, Nacho can play as 10 against SA

Based on what? He doesn't play 10 for his club, doesn't play it for the SE except for the Seychelles match in which, honestly his performance left much to be desired.

So when last did Iheanacho play well as a 10?. And don't tell me U17....That was light years ago.

Senegal beat Poland with the 4-4-2 formation at the last World cup.

It's all about knowing what works for you.

Just like we beat Iceland with a 3-5-2.

When u play on the African continent especially an away game a robust midfield with 5 players is always safer. In which case u will field a number 10.

Bros no need arguing this thing further. Rohr is most comfortable with 4-5-1 or 4-3-3 and will play Iheanacho as a number 10 if Iwobi is out injured.

Nice one but that game was against Zimbabwe, not Uganda. You are right that Westerhof was the coach. Nice memory. Emma Issah scored a cracker like Roberto Carlos in that game if my memory serves me right. That qualifying goal by Pius Ikedia was amazing.

We might as well invite Emmanuel Emenike to play no. 9 for us.

He did quite well in 2013 too.

So because he scored a FK against Argentina and hit the bar against Seychelles he is now a superb set piece taker abi? Issokay!.

But unfortunately, we cannot rely on set pieces. And mind you, he can only take them with one foot. So how many "left sided" freekicks do we get per match?.

Set piece ability is not enough.

We survived without Mikel, Victor Moses, and Moses Simon, we shall pull through on this too. smiley

Not that i'm really bothered.

Just interested in seeing what Rohr would do to turn the situation around, since his hands now seems to be forced.

You don't want him to stay and compete at CHAN?

Not at all. I hope he gets his heart desires. He has always wanted a move abroad but I just hope it is a move that makes sense. He should learn from Chisom Egbuchalam who left Nigeria at around the same age.

Amuneke recounts fight against age cheats as Golden Eaglets coach

By admin -
November 7, 2018, 9:59 am

Emmanuel Amuneke has revealed he had a hard time battling age cheats when he was in charge of the Golden Eaglets.

The former Super Eagles winger was accused by several players and their representatives of victimisation and even fraud when he headed the Eaglets.

However, he explained that players thrown out of the camp were either above the age limit or had age discrepancies on their passports.

“I know what I experienced when I was coaching in the U17s. I was public enemy number one; even the people in the North, a lot of them believe I am an enemy to them. But none have asked the players that did not make it, what really warranted their not making it,” he said on a radio interview.

“Most of these players had serious issues; some even have five passports. So, when you tell a player to go and do his passport, he doesn’t return because he has a lot of passports.

‘But people around them will not educate them because they’re only looking at the money aspect, they’re not being truthful to them.”

Amuneke, who is now in charge of Tanzania, led Nigeria to win a fifth FIFA U17 World Cup in Chile three years ago.

guy stop this kind of argument, that we cannot rely on set pieces, having a very good set piece taker gives you an edge over your opponents. Love him or hate him, he's the best we have when it comes to set pieces, which can be a game decider.

For me, Iwobi deserves cementing a place in Arsenal's first 11 either as an AM or a Winger. My worry still remains his shyness in front of goal. If Iwobi can start scoring goals in addition to his assists, he should be rubbing shoulders with likes of Edin Hazard by now.
There is nothing one won't see or hear on Nairaland.

It's enough so far it guarantees you goals. And with Iheanacho taking FKs,we're almost always guaranteed a goal,be it his goal or someone else's(e.g The Awaziem rebound).

Guy,set piece ability is enough to include one in a team...saving penalties is enough....there are matches won on set piece...also on keepers stoppers penalties...ability to take penalties...if i have a good set-piece taker...i will include him week in week out in my team....these things decide matches..

Any of Iheanacho, Osimhen or Success can do the job just fine. But I would have wanted to see Odey replace Ighalo on the list. Give these boys a path to the top. They leave the league and we immediately forget about and that is not right. The goal should be to make them the best they can be not just send them to Europe. We should all be very proud of Odey as he is beating the odds before our very eyes and the coach should be encouraging that. This does not mean that Henry doesn't deserve his spot btw wink

He needs to move in January to a bigger team. Success, Ighalo, Kayode, Ujah & co were not considered despite their exploits until some of them moved to the Epl. Its like the topmost leagues are the standard in Nff . Though they are obsessed with England. Now Kalu & Onyekuru are considered to create easy route for their work permit.

I don’t know why y’all taking that curtisaxel7 guy serious, he is a joke lol. Just because of his hatred for nacho, he is trying so hard to play down the important of set piece. All his post/comments are based on emotive prejudice. I just can’t fathom why someone would resort to badbelleism for a young player who is working hard everyday to turn out good and bring smile to the faces of all Nigerians. Curtis man you gotta have to check yourself Cos you’ve totally lost your mind. So you mean set piece ain’t crucial no more? Let me juggle your memory to a nation cup match between Nigeria and Cameroon...we were one goal down and the pressure was really on us . Like a flash we got a free kick closed to Cameroon 18yard box.. jay jay okocha picked up the damn ball, arranged his shoe wella, then curled a banana-like freekick above the wall which sailed right into the goddamn net. Maybe dem never born you then. All this year 2000 kids dem nor go stop to dey run their mouth like tap.

Odey needs to play in a better league. Hopefully, he gets a move to one by next season. The attacking positions are competitive.
