Ex-Super Eagles Defender Oshaniwa On Trial At Akwa United

By Adeboye Amosu:
Former Super Eagles defender, Juwon Oshaniwa , is training with NPFL side, Akwa United with a view of securing a permanent deal with the Promise Keepers, Completesportsnigeria. com reports.

Oshaniwa, 28, has been without a club after he was released by Scottish club, Heart of Midlothian in June 2017, a year before his contract was due to expire.

Akwa United are in the market for a new left-back after Gabriel Wassa left the club for former NPFL champions, Plateau United this week.

The Uyo club named Brazilian Rafael Everton as their new head coach on Monday.

“Oshaniwa is one of the few players training with us ahead of the new season,” Akwa United media officer, Mfon Patrick told CSN.

“He is working hard in training and if our new head coach (Rafael Everton) is happy with his performance, he will be offered a contract.

“He is a quality defender if one want to consider his antecedents, but it is important for him to prove he still has what it takes to play at the highest level.”

Oshaniwa, who was capped 17 times by Nigeria, has featured for NPFL clubs; Kwara United, Lobi Stars and defunct Sharks Football Football Club of Port Harcourt.

He was part of the Super Eagles team that won the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa and played all four matches four Nigeria at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.

For what? These people know nothing about football just signing for signing sake. There is a fabulous Togolese left back on the team, what they need are younger players specifically in the middle. We lost a whole lot of common sense the day Maikaba walked out of the door.

But then different players have different systems that fit them .why would a team change its system to suit one player when it can affect the other players?

Did Mikel start off in China? He played for the one of the best teams in Europe. Are you comparing Mikel's experience with Odey? Even Ighalo has played in Lal liga and the EPL.

You make it sound as if i am singling out Odey but i made a similar assessment of Osimhen when the list was first released. These men are just making their first dent in world football, give them time.

Are u saying Mike started his career at Chelsea? Because Lyn Oslo is not one of the best teams in Europe. Now u want to shift the post to talk about experience, so is it the quality of the league or his experience that u are using now?

You singled him out until people said he deserved to be next to Osimhen. U raised a question u didn't state which side u represented and u involved Samuel Chukwueze who u are trying to avoid now as to not double cross ur point. Odey is not new to anybody here and all he is doing in Switzerland is proving what we already know, the boy is class. Should we wait until he plays for Real Madrid before we start integrating him with the squad?

To me i think if we should beat or draw South Africa Automatically qualifying we should field and call up all this foreign born players that want to play for us so that we can cap them fast. Eg Billing, Eze, Desser, Onaunchu , Ejeria, etc in our next game after South africa.

We can also invite many Home base players to the team too, just only few know players not born the 4 should be invited

What do you guys think?

This is not the first time that i have said both Osimhen and Chukwueze were not ready. I expressed the thought that they should be allowed to focus on their club careers after my first thoughts on the list released.

This is their first season showing anything of quality.

I was willing to make an exception for Chukwueze primarily because he is playing at a very high level which suggests exceptional talent. Chukwueze is making more of a case of making the first team.

Odey does not have to play in real madrid, he just has to move to a better league even if it is a mid table side.

Hey, tbaba1234, did Faisal Adams Billey later join the PSG of France?

He was not signed by PSG. PSG sacked their youth director and that scuttled the whole deal.

Club Brugge is leading the race to sign him in January. Ifk Goteberg are also interested.

Pinnick: Rohr cannot choose venues for Eagles matches

President Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Amaju Pinnick has declared that Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr cannot continue to decide which stadium should host the team’s international home games.

Pinnick was speaking on a radio programme “Sports Zone” on Lagos-based Radio station Lagos Talks yesterday where he was asked to respond to “some report” insinuating that the German head coach of the Super Eagles is not comfortable with the choice of Asaba for Nigeria’s friendly against Uganda later this month.

“Gernot Rohr is our employee, we have a good working relationship with him but he cannot determine where Nigeria will play. He doesn’t have that strength to do that.

“He doesn’t understand the dynamics of this country, we have a very wonderful relationship with him and like I said, he cannot determine where we play,” emphasised Pinnick

The Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba, Delta State – the home state of Mr Pinnick – hosted the final of Nigeria’s Cup competition last month after it hosted the Africa Athletics Championships in August.

The stadium was touted to be in the race to host Nigeria’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Libya last month but the game was held in Uyo after Gernot Rohr publicly pleaded with the NFF to give his team a good and big stadium. Pinnick insists Asaba is a good facility.

Tearful Leicester City fans gathered to lay flowers at the King Power Stadium Sunday after the owner’s helicopter came crashing down to earth and burst into flames shortly after taking off from the ground on Saturday night.

“His (Rohr’s) contract did not say he should determine where we want to play. There is nothing wrong in Asaba, fundamentally it is a brand new stadium, of course there are little issues but for the grass, I know where there are bad pitches and where there are good pitches.

“The pitch in Asaba right now is one of the best in the country, he should come out to say otherwise then I will agree with him,” adds the CAF 1st Vice President.

Nigeria will face Uganda in an international friendly at the Asaba Stadium on Tuesday, November 20, three days after the Super Eagles might have faced South Africa in Johannesburg in their penultimate match of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying series.

Wow. Pinnick is on a rush now of making wrong choices. How can the coach not select stadium. He is the one in charge of delivering results and his knowledge of delivering results is far superior to those who feel they have the right to choose stadium. Mr. Pinnick, if you know too much, please, why not take over the coaching job.

Amaju Pinnick is a sound man, I really enjoyed his interview on NTA

He said the NFF would create a foundation for the amputee footballers

Nike would extend their contract with Nigeria even producing jerseys for the under-14

A commitee has been set up to tackle the tactical deficiencies of the SE and proffer solutions going forward

Majorly home based players would be called up to tackle Seychelles

I really wish we would give this guy more than 8 years grin
