Chibuking81:Good news!!! Please house, how much will level 8 step 4 now earn when implemented? |
Re: Rivers State Teachers Recruitment 2012 by Chibuking81(m): 7:52pm On Nov 06, 2018 |
ORDUDAVID: At 30,000 minimum wage Level 8/3 after pension/ other deduction total 61,823.47 ( basic 24,286.49) Therefore 61,823.47 - 24,286.49 = 37,536.98. @ 30,000 30,000/18000 x 24,286.49 + 37536.98 = 78,014.4633 (78,014.4633 - 61,823.47 = 16,190.9933 new addition) New basic will now be 24,286.49 + 16,190.9933 = 40,477.4833 (new basic) + 37,536.98 ( allowances) = 78,014.4633 At 30,000 = 67% approximately I just used level 8/3 as an example, follow the above step to get that of any level, including level 8 step 4, check the pay slip of any level to know the basic then calculate it this way; 30,000/18,000 x your basic + all the allowances. Level 8/4 should be little above Level 8 step 3, difference of #100 to 500. I also understand that allowances will get some little increment too. Meaning that new increment starting from level 8 and above will be more than 20k addition. How I wish, it should be on gross salary. Then level 8/3 as an example will be; 30,000/18,000 x 70,721.31( gross salary) =117,868.85 2 Likes 1 Share |

ORDUDAVID:Am not sure of this. Of the 24 basic, the minimum wage of 18k had been inclusive. Now with a new #12k added to make 30k. The new figure nay dance around 80k. |
Re: Rivers State Teachers Recruitment 2012 by Juenwume: 9:37pm On Nov 06, 2018 |
Chibuking81:One of the labour leaders actually said going by labour law of 2011, that the increase does not only affects the basic salary but housing, transport and utility. If that was anything to go by, then a 65k earner will receive close to 100k. This is because the sum of basic, Housing allowance, transport allowance and utility is 48,572.98 naira for a 65k earner. So that (30,000/18,000)*48,572.98+(65,244.31-48,572.98) = 97,626.30 if tax, union dues and other deductions were constant. 1 Like |

Juenwume: That's good. From voucher, 8/3 gross stands at 70,721.31 Gross 70,721.31 - 8,897.84 ( which are deductions includes,Tax 2,947.06 + Cont. Pension 3,420.84 + Union Dues 1,922.78 + NHF 607.16 = 8,897.84) = 61,823.47 ( Net Pay ) 30,000/18000 x 48,572.98 ( which are, basic 24,286.49 + Accommodation 14,808.83 + Transport 6,515.89 + Utility 2,961.77 = 48,572.98) + 22,148.33 ( which are, Exam Allowance 1,214.32 + Furniture 8,885.30 + Hazard 1,214.32 + Learned 485.72 + Leave grant 2,428.65 + Meal 1,777.06 + Medical 2,500 + Teaching 3,642.96 = 22,148.33) = 103,103.297 (new gross salary) 30,000/18,000 x 48,572.98 + 22,148.33 = 103,103.297 ( gross salary) 30,000/18,000 x 48,572.98 + 22,148.33 = 103,103.297 - new deductions will give you new Net pay. After implementation, any new amount receive will be the answer. https://t.guardian.ng/news/labour-sets-two-week-target-for-minimum-wage-law/ National Labour sets two-week target for minimum wage law By Collins Olayinka, Terhemba Daka, Cornelius Essen, Kanayo Umeh (Abuja), Saxone Akhaine (Kaduna) and Gloria Ehiaghe (Lagos) 07 November 2018 | 4:22 am A new national minimum wage law is possible within two weeks if the presidency submits the bill this week to the National Assembly for passage, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) affirmed yesterday. In an exclusive interview in Abuja, NLC president, Ayuba Wabba, told The Guardian that with the tremendous goodwill the organised labour enjoys at the National Assembly, lawmakers would expedite action on the bill. His comment followed President Muhammadu Buhari’s receipt yesterday of the report of the tripartite committee on the review of the national minimum wage. While government stuck to N24,000, the organised labour insisted on N30,000. Wabba said: “The organised labour wants to assure the Nigerian people that once the report is submitted today, labour would be considering what timeframe we think would be sufficient enough for the presidency to transmit it to the National Assembly. “For the work of the National Assembly, we are very certain because we have an understanding with the leadership of the Assembly that the new minimum wage bill will not take more than two days to consider because what would be presented is an amendment of the existing 2011 National Minimum Wage Law. While passing the bill does not require a long process, most members of the two chambers of the National Assembly are well informed about all the issues that surround the minimum wage bill. “Clearly, I don’t want to quote a specific date because I know how interwoven the process can be. We are committed to watching the process and following up. And anywhere we think there is a deliberate delay, we will respond adequately to every challenge along the way.” Also reacting on the wage issue, Peter Esele, a former president of the Trade Union Congress (TUC), took on the Minister of Labour and Employment Chris Ngige. “Just imagine him saying N24,000 is enough to feed a family of four. And that if labour thinks it is too small, they should go to the farm and see how difficult life can be. I was aghast that a minister under this government could utter such horrible words. What he said was provocative and the organised labour should request Ngige to tender an unreserved apology to Nigerian workers.” While receiving the report from the Amal Pepple-led tripartite panel at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, Buhari said government plans “to transmit the executive bill to the National Assembly for passage within the shortest possible time.” He also expressed commitment to having a new National Minimum Wage Act soon. He said: “In constituting this committee, we took into account the need for all stakeholders to be adequately represented – the government, the private sector and most importantly the workers. Our goal was to get an outcome that was consensual. “From the onset, we knew the committee had a difficult task ahead of it. But at the same time, we were also confident that the patriotic and professional background of its members would produce realistic, fair and implementable recommendations that would be considered by both the executive and legislative arms of government. “I am not surprised that the committee has worked for close to one year. I am also not surprised that on a few occasions, the debates got heated and sometimes, these differences came out. “What is truly inspiring is that, in almost all instances of disagreements, the committee members always came back to the negotiating table with a common goal of improving the welfare of Nigerian workers.” Earlier in her address, Amal-Pepple said: “After carefully weighing these critical factors and bearing in the mind the overriding interest of the economy the committee, while noting the offer of N24,000 by the Federal Government, is recommending an increase in the existing minimum wage from N18,000 to N30,000. “We believe that the implementation of the recommended minimum wage will, no doubt, boost the purchasing power of workers, increase consumption expenditure and ultimately stimulate business and overall economic growth.” The Secretary General, Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN), Alade Bashir Lawal, meanwhile told The Guardian that governors could comfortably pay workers’ salaries. “With this new development of N30,000 new minimum wage, we don’t envisage that any sincere governor would have any problem in complying. For the 2019 elections, it makes it sweeter. If you refuse to comply, we will vote you out,” he said. |

On minimum wage, Buhari don't have any other option than to welcome #30,000 minimum wage. NLC gave them 2 weeks, and that 2 weeks fall in 2019 general election campaign starting date. They are dealing with intelligent ones. Anything strike at this point in time will lead to political uprising, which might result to anarchy, and federal government has no other choice than to avoid it. This is the best time to get the federal government increase the minimum wage without delay. Even some states governor that are busy frustrating the effort, must agree by force. Sometimes I begin to ask, to govern the people is it by force?, if it's not by force, and someone as a governor knows that he can't afford to pay his workers, why can't he resign or decline the interest of seeking for another tenure. Instead, all of them will be busy piling up billions of naira to bring in themselves, son in-law, wife's, and their entire family members, including those without SSCE, NYSC, to governing position. Revolution is seriously needed in our dear country government, they will be shouting no white collar job, and the money needed to make this job available will be converting for their entire family use. Factories and companies are liquidating on daily basis, and they care less about it. The always make sure that their unborn children have white collar job waiting for them. I was thinking that the aborted strike would have provided the room for the long awaiting political revolution in Nigeria, any further mistake by Nigeria government will usher in the revolution. |

https://politicsngr.com/labour-expects-passage-new-minimum-wage-bill-law-fast-tracked-ajaero/ Labour expects passage of new Minimum Wage Bill into law fast-tracked–AjaeroPublished November 7, 2018 By Francis Belux Labour expects passage of new Minimum Wage Bill into law fast-tracked–Ajaero Mr Joe Ajaero, President, United Labour Congress ( ULC) says the organised labour expects the National Assembly to fast-track action on the minimum wage report once presented because of its urgency. Ajaero said this on Wednesday in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos. According to the labour leader, the organised labour does not expect the implementation of the N30, 000 new minimum wage to exceed a month. President Muhammadu Buhari promised to hand over the minimum wage report to the National Assembly, after receiving the report from the tripartite committee on Tuesday in Abuja. The organised labour suspended a nationwide strike after a prolonged deliberation based on agreement reached and document signed by the Federal Government on the new minimum wage. ”We believe that money should not be a problem. If Appropriation Bill can be made on certain matters, minimum wage should also receive such attention,” he said. He advised Nigerians to continue to keep faith with the struggle, adding that no positive change would be achieved without labour’s intervention. NAN reports that once the new minimum wage is signed into law, it will be the 5th minimum wage to be approved for workers in the country. The first one was negotiated in 1981 by the then NLC President, Mr Hassan Sunmonu. The first minimum wage received by workers was N125 in 1981, Ñ250 in 1989, N3, 000 in 1990, N7, 500 in 2001 and N18, 000, approved by former President Goodluck Jonathan in 2011. The three labour unions: NLC, TUC, and ULC, went on a two-day warning strike and later called for a nationwide strike to press for a new minimum wage. The organised labour said its action was to ensure government approved and implemented the new wage which it said was due for review since 2011. |
