TedExNairaland:No, that's not true. That school is located at Iheagwa close to FUTO and is owned by a certain Obinno who is said to be the regional manager of Bet9ja. That is why he built the school there because he hails from there. Stop saying it was built by a phantom investor. |

Owerri expanded, became more modern, and more populated during Okochora's government; at the expense of shrinking Orlu and Okigwe. Iberibesim master expended more than 98% of his government's development efforts on Owerri since 2011. No body knows which school taught Mr Iberibesim that a state governor can focus his development efforts only on the state capital,, but leave other areas of the state to decay. 1 Like |

Six Inland Roads clustered too close to one another in Owerri, where two would have served, while for seven years till today, no motorable road leads to the State's University Teaching Hospital, Orlu; that is Master of Iberibesim governance. |

TedExNairaland: Okorocha purposely concentrated his government's development on Owerri. Ancient and modern grudges in Gov Okorocha against a few persons in Orlu made him govern nearly Owerri for eight years. Only Iberibesim master would because of grudge against a few persons in an area, visits underdevelopment to close to a million people in Orlu area where he got highest number of votes to become governor. Iberibesim. |

TedExNairaland: Yes, Owerri has grown massively within a short period. Just about ten years ago, large swats of New Owerri, Akwakuma/Amakohia, Naze, Egbu etc were impenetrable bushes but now there are roads, hotels and beautiful houses in many of those areas. However, one thing that must be noted is that Owerri still lacks a strong local economy. If only a refinery and petrochemical plant could be built around Ohaji/Egbema axis or other manufacturing firms, it could also help greatly. I bet you that over 90% of the real estate springing up in Owerri are being built by Igbos outside Owerri with majority of them abroad and that is why most of them are tastefully built. Those living in Owerri, mainly civil servants and business men mostly build 3 bedroom flat for themselves in the suburbs because that's where they could afford |

42 Years after Imo state was created, the state still has Owerri as the only City. Owerri contains the five tertiary education institutions in Imo state, contains all the federal housing estates in Imo state... EXCESSIVE GREED inherent in the blood of most people in one section of the state, added to Iberibesim of the present governor in the last eight years, these are the cause of Imo state of one city - Owerri - after 42 years. When Imo state was created, there were hardly any huge differences in levels of urbanization between Owerri, Orlu and Okigwe. |

Owerri a city without pipe borne water; yet, Iberibesim boasts he is building Owerri Mega City. Owerri applauds: "Owelle mere yaa" at every ten lane streets or new layouts built by Iberibesim. Instead of Iberibesim to provide treated running water to Imolites, he boasted for 8 years that he was building Owerri Mega City. |

TedExNairaland: Most important: when is Imo state sweeping away any trace of master Iberibesim from Douglas House, Owerri? Laughed each time he schemed for his son-in-law to succeed him. Did he think Imo state is Panya? |

TedExNairaland: As for me, if I look back and see the decades of underdevelopment of Orlu and Okigwe behind Owerri, it can't give me joy to do media showcase of development of Owerri. There is development FRAUD in Imo state, as one group in the state has been using some foolish state governors and hide under state capital mantra to concentrate the commonwealth of the three senatorial zones in just one zone alone. |

TedExNairaland: You can't talk of the sudden expansion of Owerri in the last 8 years without associating the expansion to Rochas who concentrated more than 90% of the common wealth of 3 senatorial zones on one zone; and thus brought about the shrinking of Orlu and Okigwe under the 8 years of Rochas. 1 Like |

mandax: Pls this is not a thread for Rocha's politics. Owerri has always been ahead and expanded before Rocha's came. New Owerri is the brain child of Udenwa, clean and green was the brain child of ohakim, Owerri master plan was the brain child of Sam mbakwe. Rocha's only expanded some road and open up a few. And also built statues and round about. Rocha's is a failure by all standards. If at all the credit should go to all the private and individual developers, whose contributions have taken Owerri to a more respectable height in the the committee of cities by Nigerian standards. Owerri still lack industries, most of the roads at the outskirts and drainage at the city center are bad, poorly constructed or non existent. So what is it that Rocha's has done for Owerri and has not done for orlu/ Okigwe that is paining u? 5 Likes |
