What I gathered from it all is that rooting is not necessary to the user cos MIUI is less bloated than other devices used previously which required rooting to de-bloat it. Which to me makes a lot of sense.

When you unlock bootloader, Mi warns you no longer have access to Find My Device feature on MI Cloud. This is what the user is trying to explain comparing it to Apple's icloud which is also correct and makes sense to me.

Installing of custom rom may have its own negative side if rom builder decides to hidden a rogue app to steal your details... correct and makes sense to me.

Don't always shoot down a comment, try to correct it or bring up a friendly discussion to support your own opinion over the other.

last time i checked find my device works even with unlocking bootloader.
Do you know that if you format your phone Google will ask you for the last pattern or Google account you used on the phone before the foramat? Google also got find device option like Mi

Best custom UI would definitely be subjective.

EMUI is cool but MIUI 10 is better.
Not sure what Samsung Experience is doing rn coz last one i used was on the J7 Prime and I was neutral.

Android one is still the best.

Good point and that's what you should have tried to make the OP understand and instead of shooting it down as making no sense without any effort to highlight why.

On the Google's Find Device, though I have it installed, I've not had the cause to format my device and it requesting me to input the last pattern I used before, can you confirm if after formatting, you tried to sign in with a different Google account different from the one on it before the formatting?

On the bootloader thingy, I just stated what Mi stated in their warning ....I've had no reason to unlock my bootloader for now, may be in the future when I'm bored with the device ....I've seen hell before using Linux OS on laptops when it comes to bootloaders, not ready to go through all those stress for now ...well done!

In as much as we all get excited like kids with candies after trying out some new stuff, let's try as much as possible to keep the thread clean. You are on pixel experience ROM? Fantastic, post it in the other thread and you can even give a detailed review if you want to. If everyone using a custom ROM literally brags about the best one, this place will be a big mess.

Go to system launcher app under system apps and clear cache.

If it still persists, backup and factory reset or manually download the rom and flash

Redmi note 5 has superior build ( metal versus plastic), better looks, superior front and back cameras, and better support from miui. The bear stock Android of the Asus can be a pro or a con depending on users, definitely a con for me. The only areas the Asus is better are the fact that is has a bigger battery and it has a dedicated micro sd card slot. And don't forget the Redmi note 5 is far cheaper, with the current price of the Asus, I can get a Mi 8 lite or an Honor 8x which are far superior devices and stil have some change to buy 2 screen protectors a good case, a good earpiece.

Many people will gladly sacrifice a little juice and run away from the stock feel, I think I have said it before, my friend couldn't stand bootleggers for 24hrs, back to miui 10 grin
