tunlex01,

Congrats man. #TeamBellaz all the way. I believe I'm an attempt away from getting 20pts. Please, how do I contact you? Speaking isn't just working out for me yet.

DoDirtsLikeWorm and Alphadoor,

Thanks for your responses. Winter indeed is coming. ACT may come through for me though. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Yes, it is.
However to get superior/20 points in TOEFL is a but tricky, in that you need to score a perfect 30 in one of the modules.

The choice is still yours to make.
Depending on what you are comfortable with.
I have take PTE but not IELTS or TOEFL.
But my observation about TOEFL was for you to do your research before diving into any of the test especially TOEFL if you are looking to get superior scores.

You can look at the thread sequel to this one for the breakdown of what you need to score in TOEFL to get 20 points.

Except you have another use for the English Test other than Skilled Migration, I suggest you go for PTE.

read this news a minute ago, need confirmation
SUBCLASS 189 VISA TO BE SCRAPPED WHICH ALLOW SKILLED MIGRANTS TO GAIN RESIDENCY WITHOUT JOB FROM JULY 2019 AS STATES/TERRITORIES TO DECIDE MIGRATION INTAKE NOT THE FEDERAL GOVT
============
AUSTRALIA STATES AND TERRITORIES TO DETERMINE PERMANENT MIGRATION INTAKE AS ANNOUNCED BY PRIME MINISTER BY SUBMITTING THEIR ANNUAL REQUIREMENTS FOR SKILLED MIGRANTS WITH PROOF FOR HAVING SUFFICIENT INFRASTRUCTURE TO SUPPORT MIGRATION NEEDS AND TO BENEFITS WA SA TASMANIA NT BUT VICTORIA AND NSW ALREADY DECIDED TO REDUCE INTAKE

12/11/2018
Govt considering plan for states to set migrant rate

Responsibility for determining the permanent migration intake could be shifted to the states and territories under a new plan reportedly being considered by the Morrison government. The proposal would see the states and territories submit their annual requirements for skilled migrants and force them to prove they had sufficient infrastructure to support migration needs, the Australian reports. While the proposal remains in its early stages of development, Cabinet is likely to approve the creation of a population taskforce as part of a broader population plan.

The Morrison government is reportedly considering a major shift on immigration policy that would see the states given the leading role in requesting the number of skilled migrants they need each year.

The federal government sets an annual cap for skilled and family migration – currently at 190,000 – with skilled migrants distributed through a range of visa streams.

The Australian newspaper reports the shift has been discussed at “senior levels” of the Morrison government.

Asked about the story on Monday, Mr Morrison said the federal government would “always” set the overall cap.

But he said states were in the “best position” to determine how many migrants they could take, given their role in planning transport, roads and housing.

The prime minister said the “top-down” approach to immigration needed to be rethought.

The office of immigration minister David Coleman refused to comment on the story when contacted by SBS News, saying the minister could not discuss matters that may or may not be the subject of cabinet discussions.

Under the reported plan, the states would be asked to come to the federal government each year with a request for a number of skilled migrants.

hey would be required to demonstrate they had sufficient infrastructure to handle the resulting population growth.

Australia’s annual intake of permanent migrants fell to its lowest level in a decade under the leadership of the Turnbull government.

Despite the cap remaining at 190,000 in the last financial year, where it has remained since 2011, the actual intake fell to 163,000 under the Turnbull government.

Home Affairs Minister Peter Dutton said more rigorous vetting of family and skilled applicants had led to the decline.

The government has flagged a new direction on population policy. It is also reportedly working on a change to direct more skilled migrants to regional Australia.
