phyqtour: Massive turn over rates , I mainly talking about bedside nursing , bedside nursing jobs tend to be very stressful so people are always leaving. Another reason for turn over ,is that new graduate nurses will work a job out of school they do not particularly care for , get some experience and leave. Also the younger are going for nurse practitioner school one -two years out of school. The good thing about in American nursing is that there are many places and specialities in nursing. I’m just shedding light on actual nursing in America , since no one has really talked about it in this thread. 1 Like |

camobri:lol. That's right They will feed you that shit about nursing being a God's calling and the only way to heaven just to lock you down and stampede on your dampened soul. The truth is that practicing nursing in Nigeria especially in government and mushroom private hospitals is the fastest way to becoming a witch. Don't quote me please, I have been in it for 15 years. Babyvet:By the way, how stressful and costly can it be for a student nurse like me aspiring to work and specialize in anesthetic nursing in the US? And which state would you recommend for a nurse just coming to the US? |
Re: Nigerian Nurses And Midwives With The Dream Of Working Abroad Let's Meet Here. by Babyvet: 1:13am On Nov 14, 2018 |
phyqtour: You want to become a crna, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist? That usually requires at least a bachelor a degree in nursing and some nursing experience preferably in the intensive care unit . It would be hard to get into the program straight from Nigeria. I can not really specify any state, generally you don’t want states that are in high demand for American nurses because chances of employment sponsorship is low. To get direct sppnship from the facility is very hard these days , you may have to go through an agency , a popular one is avant. |

Babyvet:So you mean it's going to be hard to get into a MSc anesthetic nursing program even after gaining some experience in an ICU in the US |

Nigerians are too docile. What's keeping you nurses from heading to the nursing council office in Abuja in protest of this very extreme exploitive hike. Or even protesting to the various concerned Government agencies... You guys will just complain over the internet, but in reality, crawl back to your homes and then pay in the money. Rubbish!! 3 Likes |

JoannaSedley: I don't really think it's that hard, just found this info on http://www.nursingcouncil.org.nz/Nurses/International-registration maybe Barbie, auschris n d rest who are more varse can shed more light.. If you are a nurse who is registered overseas, and you want to practise in New Zealand, you must meet our requirements. There are seven requirements which help us make sure you are safe, competent and prepared to nurse in New Zealand. Requirements for New Zealand Registration 30 October 2018 (PDF, 681 KB) 1. You must prove your identity We need to check you are who you say you are. We check this by looking at certified copies of your identity documents. 1. Registration Standard - Proof of Identity 10 Sep (PDF, 436 KB) 2. The English language In New Zealand we require nurses to communicate effectively with patients, colleagues, employers and other health professionals. You must pass an approved English Language test before you apply for registration. 2. Registration Standard - The English Language 11 Oct 18 (PDF, 1,017 KB) 3. Nursing qualification We assess your nursing qualification(s) to ensure that they are the same level as those of New Zealand graduates. 3. Registration standard: Nursing qualification (PDF, 474 KB) 4. Current registration You must provide evidence of your current overseas registration, This may include a certified copy of your registration certificate. You must supply verification of your good standing with the nursing regulatory authority you are registered with. 4. Registration standard: Current registration (PDF, 539 KB) 5. Post-registration experience You must provide evidence of least two years' post-registration experience. You must have two years' nursing practice in the last five years. We count five years from the date you applied for New Zealand registration. For example, you applied on 1 April 2018; we look at the time frame from 1 April 2013 to 1 April 2018. 5. Registration standard: Post registration experience (PDF, 744 KB) 6. Demonstrate fitness to practise You must demonstrate that you are fit for registration as a nurse. As part of your application you will be required to complete a declaration about your competence and fitness to practice. 6. Registration standard: Fitness to practise (PDF, 735 KB) 7. Competence to practise Many nurses who have been registered overseas will need to successfully complete a Competency Assessment Programme (CAP) before we can grant New Zealand registration. The CAP programme prepares overseas registered nurses for the registered nurse role and the healthcare context of New Zealand, which is different to many other countries. Please click here for more information about CAP programmes. 7. Registration standard: Competence to practise (PDF, 633 KB) |

Nursing is stagnant in Nigeria cos females abound. The amount of bickering in my class alone is depressing. Beefs and senseless fights everyday. They will graduate and carry same behaviour to wards. Please, we need more males to instil sanity. I cant do this alone. 1 Like 1 Share |

Hello everyone please I need some information about nursing in Canada. Do they accept transferred credits from an LVN or ADN program from the USA for someone who wants to do a BScN in CAnada? Or does one have to start all over? Thank you |
