fibonacci2526:1. It is cheaper i.e. From launch. 2. The base version is 4/64gb 3. It has 3 slots. i.e. separate micro-sd slot. 4. It weighs less and it is shorter in all dimension; which means it will be easier and better in handling. 6. And the overall design is better(subjective though) 5. The notification light seems to be multi-coloured (not 100% sure of this) Modify: The 3 slots feature also seems not to be available from comments on Gsmarena. Video review will show and confirm all preliminary features stated. 4 Likes |

Re: The Xiaomi Thread. by acekid109(m): 1:52pm On Nov 14, 2018 |
scotweezy:Sure, but aliexpress is unpredictable during these period. Phones like P2 actually have respectable presence on xda, it was kinda similar to rn4 too in terms of price to performance ratio. I bliv this will also b like dat |
Re: The Xiaomi Thread. by scotweezy(m): 1:55pm On Nov 14, 2018 |
fibonacci2526:I just checked comments on Gsmarena, it's like the 3 slots is not 100% confirmed. A video review will shed better light on this part. Nonetheless, the phone is a very good alternative to Redmi note 5/6 pro. |

That is exactly the amount they charged my friend who bought a device worth 31k. I think they just randomly ascribe a value to the device and then use that to calculate the charges. |
Re: The Xiaomi Thread. by macbeyland(m): 2:48pm On Nov 14, 2018 |
ElvisMcCoy: It's not about the post office you collected from. The charges are places from HQ before shipping to the respective post offices. |

Re: The Xiaomi Thread. by scotweezy(m): 2:51pm On Nov 14, 2018 |
daamazing:Then you need to read up on Xda. There are a number of MiUi 10 based sGSI rom available online. |
Re: The Xiaomi Thread. by scotweezy(m): 2:58pm On Nov 14, 2018 |
acekid109:Well, with the base version being very cheap from launch and the 6/128gb readily available at a sweet price, the hybrid sim slot shouldn't really be an issue. |
Re: The Xiaomi Thread. by daamazing(m): 3:06pm On Nov 14, 2018 |
acekid109:GSI image ATM machine I doubt there is, the only official one which was being built by CosmicDan turned out to be an abandoned project. I don't think it'll be legal too for a developer not working or authorized by MIUI to build a MIUI GSI because of MIUI cloud features except most of MIUI features would be excluded. It'll be damn cool if MIUI has an official MIUI GSI Cus it'll make devs work easy, implementing updates instead of individual model development. The only GSI available are AOSP(and aosp based images). Just like my ROM too is Treble/GSI. I can flash the same zip file on any Arm 64 bit device with same partition style. |

Re: The Xiaomi Thread. by daamazing(m): 3:21pm On Nov 14, 2018 |
scotweezy:Supposedly Gsi wey go throw your phone into eternal turmoil. What you're seeing there is a port and you'll have to flash Lotta patches and pray it even boots. Even tho expected boot time is 20mins lemme get a quote for you from d dev. WARNING:I‘m not responsible for any consequences at all. This is an OEM rom ported from Redmi phone so it may cause wrong behaviors including partition overwritting and may brick your phone or break hardwares. Read comments on the thread and see Lotta complaints, only device it worked(non xiaomi) is an OP5T with Lotta bugs that made it unusable. Which Xiaomi user would want a GSI MIUI10 when there's the official with OEM support? No let Indians put your phone for eternal brick o 3 Likes |
Re: The Xiaomi Thread. by scotweezy(m): 3:36pm On Nov 14, 2018 |
daamazing: To a considerable length you seem to have knowledge about the treble/GSI topic. But, if you noticed one or two of my last post, I stated "sGSI" which means: semi-Generic System Image The thing you ommitted is that most Xiaomi phones running on Android Oreo (8.0+) or thereabout partially supports Treble and not fully i.e. the partition 'A' part needed in conjunction with partition 'B' for treble is supported( partition 'B' is not supported on Xiaomi phones). Due to this, some specific MiUi 10 roms for specific devices have been able to be ported for other devices with partition 'A' support part needed for treble. |
Re: The Xiaomi Thread. by daamazing(m): 3:51pm On Nov 14, 2018 |
scotweezy:Didn't see your sGSI in your statement earlier. My bad! Why I replied initially wasn't because of which xiaomi phones support treble or devices with sGSI support but instead d person thinking of flashing the sGSI on a lenovo. There aren't really any vids online of the MIUI Sgsi running on other devices, even with partition A support. Even if it works, you'll have Lotta software bugs because of MIUI additional features. That's why it works better on stock Android, there isn't any bloat. |
Re: The Xiaomi Thread. by scotweezy(m): 3:52pm On Nov 14, 2018 |
daamazing:You have yet to scrub through Xda very well. How exactly did you think Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 got not just one but 3 oreo MiUi 10 port? Shey Xiaomi release official 8.0 rom for Redmi note 4 ni? |
Re: The Xiaomi Thread. by scotweezy(m): 3:57pm On Nov 14, 2018 |
daamazing:I get your drift now. Well! Flashing is not for the faint-hearted But I personally feel the sGSI craze is still in its infancy, over the few weeks/months to come, developers will get better at porting and ensuring minimal bugs. Interesting days ahead I say! |
Re: The Xiaomi Thread. by scotweezy(m): 4:01pm On Nov 14, 2018 |
@daamazing In addition to the above, if you check youtube, you should see a ZUI 5.0 Oreo ported rom review on Redmi 5 plus and even another one on the Redmi Note 5. With the above, you should see there is now a lot of added possibilities in terms of rom portability from one android OEM to another, it is now not limited to just AOSP roms alone. |
Re: The Xiaomi Thread. by daamazing(m): 4:06pm On Nov 14, 2018 |
scotweezy:You're mistaking the whole point, there's a difference between a port and a generic system image. There are lots of MIUI 9 and 8 ports for many Samsung and other devices. It's a port, that same rom wouldn't work on any other device, it'll lead to a brick. But for GSI's, you can flash for any phone regardless of the OEM as far as it has full treble support. There can be MIUI 9 rom port for example for Leeco cool pad 1, you can only use it for that coolpad 1. Can't be used on any other device! GSI is different, you just need one image/firmware like there is for android pie. That firmware without any editing would work on all treble supported devices Google Pixel. Google Pixel XL. Huawei Mate 9. Huawei Mate 10 Lite. Honor 7X. Honor 8 Pro. Honor 9. Honor 9i..... Etc It's generic, port roms are specific. |
Re: The Xiaomi Thread. by acekid109(m): 4:08pm On Nov 14, 2018 |
scotweezy:yea, thats the whole idea about GSI, there is ZUI, Oxygen OS, Even ASUS zenfone max rom all for rn5 |

Re: The Xiaomi Thread. by scotweezy(m): 4:16pm On Nov 14, 2018 |
daamazing:Thanks for the enlightenment! The semi part still confirms and proves my point to an extent though. And I kinda feel the idea behind the sGSI and the functions are a little bit different from the normal GSI. |
Re: The Xiaomi Thread. by daamazing(m): 4:25pm On Nov 14, 2018 |
acekid109:I don't know of ZUI and Zenfones OS but.. Regarding oxygen OS, the one for note 5 is Oxygen OS 5.1.0 which is pie. Remember oneplus OS is close to stock AOSP and pie was the beginning of GSI. The OOS 5.1.0 is also a GSI or lemme say semi gsi it'll run on most phones with treble support.. Not only note RN5 think semi GSI may be thing a thing actually |

Re: The Xiaomi Thread. by adamix(m): 4:34pm On Nov 14, 2018 |
daamazing:Oos 5.1.0 is oreo. And it isnt a gsi...its a dssi port from op5t Thats the one i recognise...those gsi still cant work without issues with stock vendor...needs vendor patched...Dssi port looks better |
