Which neighbors do we trail in family planning. Kenya is among-st the best achievers when it come to family planning. Very soon I think Uganda will overtake us population wise. Ethiopia are like 100M and still rising. Tanzania are 55M if I am not wrong. Our dependency ratio is dropping...it's around 60% now...and should drop to 40% or less by 2050.But yes we need to invest more in family planning in northern arid kenya - and that will be a long battle. The same battle we waged when average woman was getting 8 kids to now 3-4 kids.

Suffice to says these are battles that are waged for a long time...and whose fruits appears several years.

yes, and my point was also that comparing your economy now after the initial injections from minerals is not exactly correct either. What would've been more sensible would be comparing your economy minus mineral revenue before you had significantly mined, say 100 yrs ago. I dont understand why you think we are comparable to Nigeria or even Libya. Those two countries took off on a coup note immediately after independence. Morrocco, Algeria, Egypt - sit literally next to Europe, have been part of modern world for ages - and yet if you remove natural resources from Algeria & Morocco - there is really nothing going on there. Arabs are perhaps some of laziest people you've got and really what mask their poverty is discovery of oil in 1950s that changed camel ridding primitives of middle east and north africa into modern countries.

I think if Kenya was right up there next to Europe - it would definitely be better than Algeria.

Depends on what you see as tourist.

Kenya has about 1.5m foreign tourist and over 4m Domestic tourist. On a good year it goes to about 8m total local and international tourist.

That is why we have a lot of hotels and resort towns around the country.

Imagine going on a ferry to Europe and vice-versa? No better geographical advantage than that if you want to develop quickly in tourism or in another sectors! That's why they are mostly left out in most 'African' rankings as they lie outside the Sub Saharan Africa!

The problem Nigerian men do not come close to Kenyan people. You find groups of young Nigerian men living together no work but party like animals and picking hookers everywhere.
