We keep on calling out our leaders, as we do so, let us also search ourselves. If the whole of Nigeria migrates to Italy and Italians migrate to Nigeria with the same leaders in place, would things remain the same? As much as our leaders are nothing to write home about, are we the citizens any better in our daily activities. Till we see that an injury to one is an injury to all, till we learn to have compassion and till we begin to see beyond our present into our future, even if Trump is Nigerian president, nothing will change.

Don't mind the silly OP. If the entire population swaps places after a while they will travel here and say exactly the same thing. They will be desperate to jump ship again without working.

Clowns.

Climatic factors?
We have the advantages there, We only suffer from flooding which can be easily PREVENTED.
I can't dream of way this nation can go forward, Without a good leader there's no hope and all the good potential leaders are getting killed.
Believe me when I say Nigeria will break into a civil war soon, Maybe if buhari wins (a huge protest and then into blood shed by angry youths)
If Atiku wins( The north will start killing again but 5x more rapid)
There is no way but to jump off this sinking shiom

The climatic factors I refer to are historical and not necessarily present. That's a huge subject.

Anyway, jump ship if you want to. Your life, your choice.
The only thing I can assure you of is that if you apply this same sort of losers mentality to your personal life, then you are doomed to fail no matter what ship you jump to.

Good luck.

Tonye, I trust you have been to Abuja. Not saying things are better but from the pictures of the roads I saw here, I don't really see anything special to what is in Abuja.

Too much of living in Lagos can also give bad image to Nigeria too. I have been to Lagos several times and the roads are so bad and poor that the picture that the op posted would look like a heavenly picture to most people.

I just want to be fair and objective, we have same road in Abuja as was posted by Op. I can agree with other things.
is Abuja the only city in Nigeria?is it d only place deserving of top notch infrastructure y r u giving excuses for failure... Nigeria is a failed state, dat d truth...

don't waste your time bro, Nigeria can never be great. I once followed this ur line of positivity, but unfortunately it was all ruse. We are a cursed race.
Don't say that bro. I believe that all these developed countries have passed through what we are passing in Zoogeria but look at where they are today... Never say never. One thing is sure, if we don't get it right in this present generation, the next generation would surely get it right.

P.S - am not a patriotic citizen of zoogeria. In fact, am not from Zoogeria. grin

I'm just a simple guy who believe in positivity.. And most zoogerians lack that attribute (positivity)

If they are positive, Zoogeria will never be like this.

As a Nigerian, its our duty to keep praying for Nigeria because prayer is divine. There is power in prayer. Even though, am not patriotic, i still pray for Nigeria because nigeria is a blessed nation (a country that has many resources) with greedy and selfish government. selfish government, bad people, tribalism, bad mentality( a typical Nigerian believes that money is everything whereas it is not so), and many more are the problems we are facing. If only if we could change, things would fall in place. It may be long but i know for sure that Nigeria would be Africa USA.

My everyday prayer line is as follows

Anybody that wants to destroy NIGERIA in one way or the other, may God destroy his or her destiny.

All the looters will not find peace insha Allah / IJN

Did I talk about Italian women? I have never met such beautiful women in my life. Beautiful and very interesting. I used to think it was impossible for women to be interesting and funny but white women proved me so wrong. My Co workers were always so fun to have conversations with. They knew absolutely everything about everything cause they read a whole lot. In Italy, the women are always smiling all the time ( it's a total different ball game in most African countries where most women are always ugly and angry all the time) and the greetings omg. It's not weird to hug a woman and give her a peck on both cheeks and say bounjourno or bounesera depending on what time of the day it is. La spezia had a lot of beautiful women but then we took a road trip to Milan and it was like a total different ball game. It was just like a real life miss world beauty pageant.

Italian women are the most beautiful I have ever seen in my life. I just pray I can marry a Nigerian because ever since I got back all the girls are just ugly to my eyes cheesy
I'm sorry but your story shows you vain, myopic and with a narrow mindset. I thought you were comparing living standards until you also decided to pick on women from your own race!?

your comment is mischievous, but I won't reply u in same manner.. You complained of bad leaders and rightly so,but u have not suggested the way forward,.instead you allowed your hatred for them to metamorphosed into hatred for your country,so u fall into the category of bad leaders if given the chance.good leaders don't come ranting online.yes they make excuses but their answers are bigger the their excuses..so what's ur answer to Nigeria's problems? Oh restructuring, yes I am a great advocate of that..But after restructuring are we going to import leaders to lead the new restructured Nigeria? Answer please.
Our main problem in this country is illiteracy, ethnicity, religion, and poverty.
Our leaders are more united than we the masses. The reason is the easy access they have to our national treasury. We the educated masses if we preach equal dividend and quality leadership our leader raise the issue of ethnic and religious differences to divide us. You hear them saying things like Quota system is not applied in apportioning vital position to individuals. But they raise those alarm because of greed base on the fact that their cabals are misrepresented. Ethnic and religious bigot among us(masses) are deceived and they end up dividing us. Leaders like Tinubi and Orji that are known looters if financial agencies go after them you still see people defending them because of same ethnic affiliation. Haven't you heard of Buhari defending Abacha?why? He wants to sound like an ethnic partisan that defends his kinsmen. This is why I need a restructured Nigeria to alleviate the ethnic and religious problem

Lol @ black women are fugly, unhappy, and boring same way the ist time my friend traveled to France she cursed all Nigerian men citing the fact that they only know how to trash talk women, live very unhealthy lives and are drastically ugly, hailing Paris gentlemen as the gold standard, forgetting that black men have to most times work twice as hard as an average white man to even have a shot at progress, how many of them work who 8am-9pm plus traffic would really have time for hot candle light dinners and grooming their mustaches 24/7, not supporting the black mans tardiness but we should learn to understand where we are coming from but strive to do better, so OP kindly dash yourself brain before demeaning your fellow black women.

PS- She is married to an extremely handsome french speed racer and balling so i am inclined to believe the OP on a flip side that white men are more handsome, fresher, stronger and interesting than their black counterparts.

I got this many years ago...and I relocated my family immediately. I sold all my landed properties to achieve it. People thought I was crazy. I can't raise my kids here...mba!!! I live in naija though. In Copenhagen, you will see a 70year old woman jugging down the road, not a new thing! I was telling one the Toyota gangs on cartalk section that you don't see Toyota in Europe he kept arguing with me, quoting stats from America. Someone that has never left naija o..
Please leave naija if you have the means, white is superior to black!! The former is light and the latter is darkness...

I have always asked myself if God actually gave blacks and whites the same level of intelligence and this is based on facts obtainable globally. Why is the only poor country in Northern hemisphere (Haiti) a predominantly black nation? Why is the only relatively advanced country in Sub-Saharan Africa (SA) a country with a significant percentage of whites? Why is North Africa relatively far more developed, richer, organized and prosperous than SSA? Why are blacks always aggressive naturally and tend to resort to violence easily even when common sense, orderliness and calmness should be applied?? Why do blacks especially Nigerians break bottles and use dangerous weapons like matchets at the slightest quarrel? The kind of stvpidity and suffering that goes on in Nigeria is quite alarming to sane minds!! Why would someone come to the bank and jump the queue over people that made efforts to come earlier and yet call it smartness or commercial vehicle drivers going against traffic with passengers cheering him for being smart cry cry
Majority of Nigerians can be very annoying, irritating and terrible, and the country has become so freaking bastardized with no hope whatsoever!!
I have been trying to upload a file of less than 5 MB for a client in SA since morning (I actually started yesterday) yet to no avail, and it is causing serious issues between me and my client who had earlier told me I was doing a great job for him. Now MTN network is ruining my good works!! I actually have to disconnect my modem and reconnect again, and afterwards, refresh a page before it can open while uploading files is impossible!!

I used to struggle with epileptic power supply before I had to cough out 400K to install a solar system, in order to overcome power problems.
I have not stepped into any Western country but the stories I keep getting from nairaland and my two siblings that recently traveled to the US always depresses me.

Nigeria can never get it right, with the way we are going. We have already overtaken India as the world's poverty capital despite having a population six times smaller than them!! Things will continue degenerating in Nigeria until the citizens will start killing themselves out of frustration!

Even right now, as I look out of the window of my office overlooking a major road lies a heap of refuse right in the middle of the road!

Nigeria is cursed and the IQ of most of the citizens is nothing to write home about, and I would have said including entire blacks except that some black countries like Rwanda, Ghana and Kenya are doing relatively well.

Let's assume the Italians swap country with us and we Nigerians now own Italy. In few years time, majority of Nigerians would still migrate to Nigeria where the Italians stay. Because we lack foresight. We only care about ourselves at the expense of the masses.

Take for example, those people shouting artikulating and sai baba. These people are our problems.

Buhari is working but working to curb corruption which is just a waste of time because no country is free from corruption.

He supposed to focus on developing the country not corruption. All the things happening in Nigeria is not his fault alone. We are the major problem and it has to do with our mentality.

We believe going to school is synonymous to getting rich. Most NIGERIAN undergraduates are just in school. They don't know the reason why they are in school.

Some are expert in fashion design. Instead of them to face what they are good at, they will start wasting money on education.

I personally love education, main reason why am going school. I'm not in school because of money.

We need to change our mentality and stop tribalism. We are one NIGERIA. Hausa, Fulani, yoruba, Igbo, ibibio, tiv, ebira, Isoko, urhobo and many others. Let's love ourselves and change our ways.

Stuborness and disobedience won't take us anywhere o

Lets obey the law guiding this country. Lets obey the traffic rules. Let's us love ourselves. Nigeria would surely be great but not in this present generation. Except if we change sha

Nigeria is good but we Nigerians made her like this. Let's change and see the outcome.

May God bless us all
May God bless Nigeria
May God bless Germany smiley

I really wish I could show more pictures from my trip but the others had my face in it and I dont wanna show my face. We are really suffering in Africa. I used to be one of those who believe in this continent but I don't anymore. We are living like animals especially here in Nigeria. Nigeria especially is the worse amongst all African countries. Nigeria lacks the basics a country that can't provide electricity nor water for its citizens or even healthcare. In all of Italy, healthcare is free. They live so long. You see so many old people on the street. They get sick they go to the hospital and get treated for free and they got quality healthcare. We got absolutely nothing in Nigeria. I am back to Nigeria now and at the moment I am confused on what I wanna do. Everything here feels so strange and so weird. Everyone in Nigeria is suffering I mean it everyone. You have to really go outside to see how bad it is here.

Anyone that wants to leave Nigeria should do so ASAP. This country and by extension much of sub Sahara Africa will never get better. I mean even Gabon that has so much oil and very few citizens has so much poverty and really shit infrastructure same with equitoreal guinea.

The most painful aspect is that most African leaders travel to this countries regularly and see how things are done here and see how people live like human beings but cannot replicate same in their home nations.

Anyone that has an opportunity to leave Nigeria should waste no time. We are suffering in Nigeria. Life is not all about money quality of life matters too and quality of life in Nigeria is shit real shit.
everything is wrong in africa.no wonder we re called d dumping ground of d world.no single tin is right.if men re opportuned to travel out.i swear u will keep laying curse on our leaders.d funniest thing is dat most of these countries re nt half rich as nigeria but few people held us hostage.our leaders travel and see all dese good things.instead of bringing it bck to naija.they steal from naija nd invest it there.and some youths will still be campaigning for them jst to get 10k.is well.currently am in south korea.if u write this abt italy dat is nt too ok for immigrants.what will u say abt south korea.thatu can enter today and get work tomorrow.no interview no nothing.u jst wear t shirt nd jean nd start work.u will even learn on d job as dey teach u.and yet u earn almost 2k dollars or 3k dollors or more .which is equivalent to almost a bank manager salary for naija.u must have a strong connection to get such lucreative job for naija but this is sometin that is so common in sk dat u can leave ur job nd get another one in 2 hours.u can have option of ten jobs after seeing them and comparing d salary,u den choose the one u want.is well

Your post sort of insinuated that.

And no, I am not trying to provoke you.

The views expressed by the OP are frankly that of a little boy who probably has little experience of life. First time out of the country and he is blown away. As someone has indicated he obviously has a great deal to learn.

He is also extremely ignorant of the development of nations and people's - and so are you.

It is true that we are in a tough place in Africa right now and especially so in Nigeria. It is however not true that this can never change. It is also not true that black people are mostly stupid as the OP said.

The truth is that the views expressed by the OP and others who think like him are shamefully lazy. The first thing that should occur to them when they admire the western world is that it took humans just like you and I blood and sweat for many centuries to achieve that. If you imagine that a mindset which craves it without sacrifice will ever be worthy of anything then you don't know anything about the school of life.

Both you and the OP may be disillusioned and that is understandable. But becoming self hating hopeless cowards is indefensible.

What the hell are you talking about??Your argument has been on sentiment and perception not on facts.Tell me one developed black nation in the whole world..Just one.And please dont tell me South Africa cause we know the reason they are where they are today is because of white people that built that place and still running that place.Remove it and watch that country collapse.African Americans are just 13% of American population but commit over 51% of the crime in the country.Look at Nigeria as an example,we cannot even generate 7000mw in 2018.Cannot pay 30k/month and unemployment level is so damn high.50yrs+ being independent plus the whole resources we have and one of the most hardworking people in the face of the world we can get our shiit together. And you say what?? Italy.

I really used to be one of those who used to feel that someday Africa would get it right. That things are not as bad as we imagine it to be, that somehow black people are actually not stupid as other races think but being in Italy totally changed my mind. I have been living in darkness all my life and in Italy I saw light. First of all, once the ship crossed into Italian waters, I noticed the ocean water to be very blue (in most African countries it's usually very brown and dirty when you are close to port). You could literally see your face inside. We docked in a small town called la spezia. La spezia is a village by European standards and the scenery totally blew my mind away. As soon as I left the ship to see town. I just couldn't stop cursing all the leaders in Africa past and present and the idiot citizens who support their ineptitude. I was in an European village and there was freaking WiFi everywhere. The roads omg. I have been to more than 10 African countries in my short life span and I have never seen roads of this standard before. Public transportation. We got no public transportation in Africa. Our buses and trains are all shit. The public buses in Italy were embarassed

The roads just blew me away over and over again. The way the roads were built with considerations for pedestrians and cyclist. It was just strange to me that people could actually live like this, people could actually live sane.

I love automobiles, when I am not reading or working in them. I watch YouTube videos and drool on my favourite models I cant afford but here my favourite models were being used as taxis. Cars that would be used by Rich elite Nigerians being used as taxis and the kind of cars Italians drive gosh. I saw so many recent BMWs, Mercedes, audis and volkswagens. Cars I didn't even think we're out on the road. It was so unreal to me. Meanwhile in Nigeria, someone would do a thanksgiving ceremony for being able to buy a piece of crap camry or corolla.

Bro, we're still in slavery in Africa, and our current situation is because many years of slavery and colonialism has got the intellect locked down. How can we begin to talk about development; when we still have to learn from the white man how to do it?

And yes, we can do better than white people, but until we free ourselves from our predicament of today, which unfortunately we don't even realise; including you. You can't be better than someone who gave you language, education, God. You can't be better than someone when you believe in advance that his language, education, God, is better than yours.

We are still in slavery but it's a different type of slavery. Please read this book https://www.nairaland.com/4595660/intellectual-slavery-worst-legacy-colonialism

When I read writeups like this here, I can't help but laugh.

You travelled across Europe and began to curse your land.

Yet you are hesitant to look into why things work over there.

The difference is logic and its application.

In Italy, creativity/manufacturing/production is a family tradition and heirloom.

Check it. It's either the family is known for wine making, Pasta production, engines, leather works, ceramic works etc.

In Nigeria, you get a degree in chemistry but would never synthesize anything after graduation.

You would rather work in a bank, join the Yahoo club or even remain without work.

The excuse is the worn-out excuse of lack of government support.

These days you get 30k through Npower. Fvcking save and buy bunsen burners. You and your classmates can decide to form a co-operative or club and purchase 2nd hand centrifuges. If you are sharp, you can get donors from around the world to support your cause.

Enough of the excuses.

Get to work.

Get involved? How? Isn't praying and fasting a part of the involvement ? Need I say I have a business that employs people, pays salaries and help to put food on the tables of those who work for me? If I decided to go into politics today wouldn't some people out there say I'm too young; I don't have any experience under my belt? Come on bro, for Nigeria to move forward, we must first come to terms with its abysmal failures. It's needless and cowardly denying we live in a failed country run by failures. If at this time and age Nigeria still can't provide adequate, reliable and affordable electricity supply then Nigeria is a failed country. I love my country dearly, because God put me in it, but I can not see white and call it blue. Nigeria is a failed country because our politicians are visionless, greedy and extremely wicked.

You see u just highlighted the problem of Nigeria and also a proffers a way forward..You see, like I said in my post earlier, I am a great advocate of restructuring/true federalism.. But how effortive can such system of government be when 90 percent of our leaders are worst than devil himself? Take a look out our state governors for instance. They are so insensitive that they can't pay workers and yet they remain executive governors.so my brother tell me,who will lead a restructured Nigeria if not this old selfish, insensitive, and evil men parading themselves as our leaders?ok let talk about the presidential election that's few months away now.we have the incumbent president who has proven beyond every reasonable doubt that he Is incapable of leading us,yet he still enjoy a massive supports from our youth. because of the riotous vehement nature of his supporters you dare not speak against him especially in the northern part of the country, that's tribalism like you rightly mentioned.. Now,obviously the only man that stand a chance of unseating this incumbent president is Atiku, who also was vice president for 8good years with nothing to show for it,yet he still enjoy a massive support from our youth.I don't want to talk about the bribery allegation in the US that has taken away a lot of credence from his credibility if he has any, after all we have EFCC who's job is to fight financial crime, but have they done a anything about it?STORY FOR ANOTHER DAY...Now my big question is,what do we expect this men to give that they have not given before? They've been given time to build Nigeria of our dream, but yet we kept going from bad to worse...

SOLUTION
Vote in a non tribal bigot like Sowore or Donald Duke, let's see what they have to offer, and if they fail,we vote them out. This recycling of old selfish politician will never help us..

Well you've said it yourself: 50+ years only right?
May I ask you if you can tell me: how old is Great Britain?

Let's start from there.

Oh by the way calm down and stopen the epileptic fit. You are speaking from pure ignorance but I will help you. OK?
How old is Singapore? undecided

Till we see that an injury to one is an injury to all, till we learn to have compassion and till we begin to see beyond our present into our future, even if Trump is Nigerian president, nothing will change.
if trump becomes the president many things would change obama said the same thing but look at America now even obama is claiming credit. Guy a bad leader can never make a country good.

Bro, we're still in slavery in Africa, and our current situation is because many years of slavery and colonialism has got the intellect locked down. How can we begin to talk about development; when we still have to learn from the white man how to do it?

And yes, we can do better than while people, but until we free ourselves from our predicament of today, which unfortunately we don't even realise; including you.

I swear if our problem was to be better than the white man, then we really do not have any problem. To be better than someone you have to be really doing what that person does then try to improve on that.Which clearly you and i know competition doesnt even exist. The problem is that we have the tools, resources in whatever form you want to look at it but nothing is absolutely happening. It didnt happen 50yrs ago,its not happening in 50yrs to come
