LordReed:P.s. We have gone to the moon, sent probes to the outer limits of our galaxy, and peered much further through amazing telescopes, this is a lot more than our local space. Much more than was observed when we were developing the awareness that things were observable, the first act of consciousness the human mind achieved. Genesis is an 'as they knew it at the time' explanation. And Jesus with his spit on mud enhanced sight even further. We observe a lot more than our local space so might be advised to change where we seek gods. |

budaatum: Well, since we have observed no such beings within our local space, if they exist they must be somewhere else other than our local space. I'd be happy if we meet some other civilization other than human, they don't have to be gods in any sense. Worshipping I think is an irrelevant exercise, I don't see why any transcendent being would want it. 3 Likes |

budaatum: If we define local space as everything we can observe now, we still know there is more we can't observe and so it could be out there. Besides the only things we observe at great distances are world and star sized objects, human sized objects would be completely missed. Kal El we welcome you! LMFAO! 1 Like 1 Share |

LordReed:Well, look up and see the sun. Some people have and called it God. You'd find references even in the Bible, if that's the God you mean. |

LordReed:I'm not having that! We have only defined one sort of god, the human god commonly defined as the small 'g' god which we agree exists, and not the Almighty Creator of Heaven Yahweh God, Himself. Could the Almighty God exist, Lord? |
Re: The Non-Christian Chatbox ( sticky ) by budaatum: 1:29am On Nov 18, 2018 |
LordReed:It was still a god to some, and one must know this to understand the gods, Lord, be they good or bad. Gods dem are jealous, and that's bad. It's why we are warned not to worship them. Good advise say I. |
Re: The Non-Christian Chatbox ( sticky ) by LordReed(m): 5:27am On Nov 18, 2018 |
budaatum: All gods are small g gods including Yahweh. Its origins as a Canaanite god are a testament to that. 1 Like 1 Share |

Re: The Non-Christian Chatbox ( sticky ) by budaatum: 2:15pm On Nov 18, 2018 |
LordReed:So, could things created in the mind exist? |
Re: The Non-Christian Chatbox ( sticky ) by LordReed(m): 2:31pm On Nov 18, 2018 |
budaatum: In the the universes and landscapes of the mind they do. They just don't translate into reality so men look for signs and portents. |
Re: The Non-Christian Chatbox ( sticky ) by budaatum: 3:02pm On Nov 18, 2018 |
LordReed:Why do men look for signs and portents outside their own minds? Let me explain. I bet you'd laugh. You, freely, with no one or nothing coercing you I pressume decided to "define local space as everything we can observe now" and into that space you welcomed Kal El. You then grab a telescope and go looking for Kal El. Does "swegbe and pako", not spring to mind? Why, Lord, did you create a figment of the imagination in your mind and go look for it with a telescope? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NVkyiawJiE4 |

LordReed:I didn't know. But I knew you were tongue in cheek. That's why it's funny. And it is what many actually do. So, Why do men look for signs and portents outside their own minds when it is a fact that they create the signs and portents in their own minds to start with? I'm assuming women don't do this, righ? |
Re: The Non-Christian Chatbox ( sticky ) by LordReed(m): 9:28pm On Nov 18, 2018 |
budaatum: LoL! Women are actually worse when it comes to seeking signs and portents, they are more susceptible to creating castles in the air especially on the word of a really charismatic man. Why do men and women look for portents and signs? Hope. Hope that the darkness of their lives can be turned into light. For some the darkness is poverty or lack, for others it is something or the other that they want and are afraid they may not get it. The reasons are as many as people that exist but hope is what they all are looking for in those signs and portents. 2 Likes 2 Shares |

LordReed:Hope, like an assurance? O they of little faith. They believe a God exists but need evidence to convince themselves that God exists. God, in fact agreed with them eventually. He sent his only begotten son to come and be flesh amongst them and die for their lost souls. What nonsense! Some think crying to some imaginary God in heaven would let them pass? Good luck to them. Are better signs and portents not their own sweat, the fruits of their own labours, the works of their own hands, unless they were mindless, naked individuals enslaved by some God? Though we know some go to Oluwole, it is a basic tenet of our education system that studying well for an exam will assure one of passing better, and experience quickly teaches that those who do not work hard will eat less than those who work harder. So, heres a sign and portent: Today is better than yesterday and tomorrow will be better than today. Today you will work harder and better than yesterday so tomorrow will most definitely be better than today. Some time in the future when you are better at working you will make future that follows even better because whatever you do today will make it so. You will come tell buda signed and portended it and for everyone who reads it too. 1 Like |

LordReed:From the psychologist in me: If we define local space as everything we can observe now, we still know there is more we can't observe and so it could be in there. Try doing the end bit, Lord. |
Re: The Non-Christian Chatbox ( sticky ) by LordReed(m): 1:29pm On Nov 20, 2018 |
budaatum: LoL! I see what you did there budaa. I agree and lemme put it this way, if with what we know now, a god does not appear to exist then a god in unknown space cannot be known now. Therefore any god concept exists only as an a projection of the inward known space aka it is not real. Convoluted but there it is, the god concept is like the product of the convoluted digestive tract. PS: did you see what I did? LMFAO! 1 Like 1 Share |

LordReed: We might have to define what 'real' means. Sometimes, I suspect, even those who scream 'God is Real' say it out of habit rather than deep reflection. 1 Like |

HappyPagan: I am happy with the perception of our world that we share and mutual agree on as the definition of real. There might be some problem with this as a result of our inability to always reach consensus but it still precludes only one person seeing something that others do not. We mostly call such people insane or disturbed or maybe just high. |
Re: The Non-Christian Chatbox ( sticky ) by HappyPagan: 6:10pm On Nov 20, 2018 |
LordReed:Are ideas real, like humans are? Even if this were a simulation, it seems we are both the illusion and the simulator. Sometimes it feels like one swtiches between both roles. Before I turned atheist, the Holy Spirit was 'real'. I believed I talked to Him every morning, believed He guided me, gave me advise, spoke Truth through God's word. Now, I'm a totally changed man. I realised recently I had forgotten how to say the Lord's prayer. Is reality a construct of our beliefs, what we choose to pay attention to? |
Re: The Non-Christian Chatbox ( sticky ) by LordReed(m): 6:29pm On Nov 20, 2018 |
HappyPagan: LoL! Similar experience but I don't think I have forgotten any of the Mumbo-Jumbo yet. Hmmm, I'd say ideas are real because they can be communicated but that is a separate thing from being true. Reality is both a construct and a objective "space". It is a construct because in other for you to experience, it your mind needs to assimilate it and from what we know of how the brain works, it seems to be creating a mirror of what you see but an incomplete one because the inputs are too many. That is why you can miss details that are right in your front. Its one of the reasons why I think we form consensus because it strengthens the construct in our minds and gets it as close as possible to the objective " space". |

LordReed:Lol! LordReed:If you hadn't said this, my lol would have been, "I'm coming over there to kick your ass" I beg your pardon, Lord! By the way, I just finished Grisham's Confession. I read it last year and just finished it again, both times in response to vaxx claiming, reality is whatever he says it is. If I could advise him, it would be that he give it go. The scientific method is one that goes towards the issue of people cooking things up in their head. Peer review weeds out the chaff, even amongst us on here, or would you claim the likes of Kingebukasblog, that ape of mine, butter, and even winner are not missing? What they have themselves seen has sent them into hibernation from where they shall rise again evolved and renewed, or deader than they were before they died. We are working on their matter. Fact is, you can't make everyone "believe" the same thing. But you can present them with the facts, the evidence, and let them make their own minds up. Their ignorance disappears when knowledge enlightens it - just read of the many who have emancipated themselves from the imaginary creations of their own mind. LordReed:I saw my man today, tooled up, so I'm one of the above right now, but that don't mean my brain should stop working does it. In my opinion, anyone who claims reality is only how they say it is regardless of what anyone else has to say on the matter, is insane, disturbed, and deluded. Except anyone who knows Plato's Cave would point out the folly in that attitude. Hopefully, we would resist ad homineming them and point out the errors in their thinking exactly as we do on here. We must cure the insane, disturbed, and deluded of their insanity, disturbance and delusion, and highness, if that's what's the issue here. Anyone wanna start a thread, "weed make me made mindless"? Let's see the response we get! 1 Like |
