Hi guys...

A 2004 unregistered Lexus es330 was stolen at guy point yesterday in Ibadan. Vehicle wasn't register at all...

Please we need your suggestions on how to recover this vehicle back. Note: No Plate number but Original Custom paper still with the owner.

Of what helps will the Chassis number (VIN) be in locating the vehicle...

Thank you in advance....

Wait. Don't be rash. But we're humans. we were thought to think irationally too.

Could it be that you're the thief and wanting to run damage assessment to know just how deep the shit you're in?

Did you steal the car from the owner at gun point?? because that particular detail seems far fetched.

More so if you didn't, I apologise for any inconvenience my comment may have caused you.

Contact Car wash professionals. Not the Police. they'd just demand more money.

Its actually a very simple solution but mean that nigeria is a sh1t hole and their are lapses and loopholes in the law. it would cost you money and patient.

What you have to do is follow up on FRSC and VIO database for vehicle registration. It would take not more than 6 months to sell the car and the unfortunate buyer would register it that's where the police will have to come in and investigate the whole thing tracing from unfortunate buyer to unfortunate seller then to the car snatching syndicate.

From my limited knowledge the car won't be good for parts it isn't well sort after in the market.

Let's just hope and pray they are not professional car snatchers who alter chassis number and all sorts of car stealing techniques.

Naija is just a shit hole country, even If you blacklist VIN on autoreg, they will just change a 0 to O or 1 to I

Re: . by asamwababy: 11:16am On Nov 18, 2018
No matter how they alter details you will be able to get a almost true match.

Contact auto reg and all they will spool all es330 and es300 recently registered from color to engine number to VIN number.Even if they change colour,Vin or engine number can not be totally altered.

I believe the system should have different parameters for spooling data.

It will be a painful search but its worth given it a try.

They may want to be smart by regsitering vehicle as es300.

Unfortunately, he cannot. It is too late as the robbers too are not dull.

Trust me, that vehicle must have been butchered into spare parts by now. It takes just 3hours to butcher any vehicle into spare parts. Go to Ladipo & confirm.

This is very common this days.
You'd see dealers and also individual flexing cars which are for sale around town. Some use the car to the extent it becomes naija used.
Your case might be a case of transportation from one place to another for sales purpose.
But should serve as a lesson to does who drive unregistered cars for sale around .

Lol. Engine 300k, transmission expensive, headlamp 65k, lmao. That far would have been parted by now, they'd probably make close to the regular sales price by parting it out.
Re: . by Nobody: 2:06pm On Nov 18, 2018
Damn! i sincerely hope the Op finds the vehicle. Even if the ViN has been altered in all areas- there's still one part that it will remain. Once an Obd II scanner is plugged into a vehicle, the factory VIN is still going to be displayed on the vehicle information profile.. that is if the ECU (brainbox) hasn't been replaced. Goodluck with ur search!
Re: . by OilsPartsCars: 2:34pm On Nov 18, 2018
I am going to tell two real stories, and see how this could help gateleo.

There was this Lexus RX350, customer had brought it over to the shop so we could help fast track the sales.

So this other customer, let's call him Chidi, likes the Lexus, owns a 2006 Range that has been abused, he is terrible with maintenance, and likes cheap cheap things. But that is not the story.

He had brought is Range to the shop, so he could do a Gasket swap.

Hey, this Lexus, let me use the opportunity and test drive, and see if I will buy. Well for a couple of days till you guys are done with the Gasket swap.

Chidi is rich in his own class, he could afford the 2010 RX350, if he really wanted to buy. OK, Baba, drive, you might like her. Whatever happens, return the SUV after your Range is ready.

Coincidentally, he had a friend that had just gotten back from the States, loud fella. I forgot to add, location of this happening is Uyo.

The next day, he took the Lexus, he gave his Loud Americana friend the Lexus to drive, who had just left a well known Lounge at Ewet Housing Estate, with plenty ye men, Bleep men.

He had stopped at this petrol station along oron road, before the traffic light at 4 lane. Naxo this 3 guys, possible trailing him nabbed the car at gun point. Fiam

The same moment, I got a call, that the Lexus had been taken. I was the Manager at the shop, which kain Wahalla b this.

Somehow, so many cars were being snatched in Uyo, 2016. With no trace. And the 350 isn't as a common sight as it is now.

There were 4 possible suspects. This our Range Rover customer, His loud Friend, the Customer that wanted to sell the Lexus (Rumored to be into shady things. Can't pin point his source of income) And Car thieves. This possible suspect included the shop from the point of view of anyone involved. It will just rotate.

I will like to cut the story short. The RX was taken on Friday, it was found on Thursday. Guess where, Aba, the home of car carnivores. The butchers.

Now, immediately it happened, with a lot of strings pulled, all police in the axis had been put on Alert. Uyo is not big. And bother states.

How, did they get to Nab the guys

Call came through from The Firms Lawyer that the Rx is in Aba, coincidentally, the owner of the RX shares the same lawyer as us. His number was gotten from the vehicle papers and some documents in the Hand rest.

How did it happen

This common criminals in a bid to have the last flexing before taking it to wherever, maybe Aloji, where it would have been the last bus stop of the Vehicle with no trace. Wanted to have a last feel of the piece of well crafted technology by the Japanese.

The RX Ac wasn't functional, and it was tinted. The 3 criminals were cruising around town, with front windows wind down. Got to police check point, and were asked to provide tinted permit

The permit was alongside the Vehicle documents, the idiots didn't know, to tell you this vehicle last bus stop was Aloji. The one on the wheels tried to give the police man some money. Baba said no, come down.

Boom, all doors got open, and two of the guys went on their heels. The dude on the wheels was nabbed.

Why on earth will an assumed car owner try to run because of tinted permit. Something must be wrong. They took the guy and the Lexus to the station. On interrogation, man will say Natha.

Then he called some person to come bail him, while the fella was at the counter and the car thief brought to see him. Alaye gbey ror. Then they arrested the Baillie.

That was how the police came to a notice of a possibility of the vehicle being stolen or used in carrying out some heinous crime.

All documents in the car was searched, and they saw the name of The Barrister.

We got the RX back by sheer luck, or let's say God.

So Chief

Check your circle

Get some men in Uniform to go ransack the nearest Owode in Ibadan.

Then pray.

Try everything you could to get the Lexus back. But whatever happens, life continues, the Lexus is not your end. And be more careful

The Stolen Ford .

This did not happen to me first hand , A relative to the Fella it happened to told me.

Mr Chibuzo (not real name) had gone to a well known open bar in Aba to go wash his SUV, and probably have a couple of drinks.

Baba came out only to find out his Ayokele was no where to be found. Searched everywhere, you know how you look for missing things (iwakuwa, gutter o, under other peeps cars o grin)

Baba understands where he stays, where boys dont smile. He knew the next stop of the SUV will be Aloji, a popular used parts market in Aba.

No slacking, he called is Friend in Uniform, a Soldier, informed him of the current situation of things. The men swung into action. This one is more than a civil matter, you need force.

Two days after serious search and threats. The dismantled body of the SUV was found in Aloji, maybe waiting for who is going to buy the Chasis.

The fella in charge of the carnage won't tell who brought the vehicle angry, them just bring am, I buy am. Who brought it, I no know. Those peeps are some serious car thieving syndicates

Baba was given some change as compensation for catching them in the act.

Every part had almost been sold embarassed

So Chief.

I don't know where parts are sold in Ibadan. Focus your search there, they are probably negotiating how much is the alternator. lipsrsealed

I pray you find your Lexus, Albeit intact. Forget all this regi regi something. You are not in the UK. This is Naijiria

No interest in new parts perse since RadAutoWorks has opened an American franchise. I’ll let someone else worry about customs and warranty.

But I do plan on opening an American style auto recycling yard.

The car sales arena is flooded with junk salvaged cars. That is not my niche.

Before Radautoworks came on board New Parts has always been available. Albeit expensive. OEM parts are expensive. Briscoe, Star, Denso, Aisin are readily available , unless one does not know where to shop

I just laugh when people say Toyota is cheap to maintain. If you are using OEM, or quality Aftermarket parts. They don't come cheap. Unless you are getting a Chinese knock off

My Parts focus is in the untapped and mistrust infected section.

I will set it in motion. And probably get in touch so you could see the mine, if you will invest.

I'm not saying parts were not available in Nigeria before, of course they are.

What they mean to me is that they are a USA franchise. That might not mean something to most but to me I put tremendous stock into that from a serious business perspective.

Since I will also have an auto repair facility, a very small one, maybe 3 bays at most, that caters to specific unpopular marques, I will of course be bringing in parts too on as needed basis. But if I can get it from Lekki from a reputable USA franchise within hours, then why waste time ordering online.

This is how we do it in the USA, auto repair shops don't have to have a parts department. They have account with parts sellers like Pep Boys, AutoZone, Kragen, etc and parts when ordered before a certain cut off time are delivered the same day. You buy from them at a discount, add a little bit of convenience gain on top (don't ever gouge your customers).

What I've noticed in Nigeria is most feel that they have to do point to point merchandising to make profit. My model is different.

Good luck on your initiative.

OP, sorry for the sidetracking but we are bringing your thread up to the top. Where in Ibadan did this happen?

That's exactly what we are trying to do. We actually have a few shops already who have accounts with us and order parts at a different rate from the general public.

Let us not derail the thread. There's an ES330 currently in the hands of some thieving idiots. We got just the VIN, Sedan hasn't been registered, no tracker or some other connections to retrieving the car back except the VIN. Any ideas on how to help Gateleo?

I kind of have an inclination that it is an in house job by some jealous or aggrieved individual op is not in good terms with. If they go scot free with this one, they are probably going to strike again. Where in Ibadan did this happen? Is this a one off thing or a common occurence in the area?

The Nigerian business enviroment is harsh undecided
