TayserMahiri: Lol, I saw give us 18 months to fix ourselves not 15 years . Our last technical recession lasted for about 6 months, the one before that about 8, so we ain't exactly new to things like this, that is why we are the model of Africa . This time it's even more exciting , there is a lot at stake and a whole lot to gain. The best time to test our democracy and sovereignty is now , and even better to bring in more competion and kick arse in many non- mineral sectors not only in Africa but globally. South Africa has spent so much money developing skills and expertise on these sectors for close to two decades now , so it's time to see if it was all a waste or we did what most of Africa clearly missed when they gained the so called " independence ". It's either we are going to join the masses in Africa who have all the lands at their disposal yet are wallowing in poverty and extreme poverty or we will be the odd ones out once again . We know many can't wait for us to join them in their miseries , that is why most always reference the Mugabe decision when they are talking about what is currently going on in south Africa, yet none can show us any similarities between the two besides the obvious. |

How will you navigate 1) Huge unemployment (at 27%) - of mostly black - leading to crime wave & resentment. 2) Land & mines seizures & related rhetoric from minority whites that could attract sanctions & cause capital flight 3) Immigration of bottom feeders from Africa countries that could undermine your pan-african dream if you kick them out. Out-migration of highly skilled whites. Those are the huge challenges facing South Africa. I think you've been postponing the land question for far too long - something Zim did for nearly 30 yrs - but eventually had to just do it. Lionessza6: 1 Like |

[quote author=TayserMahiri post=73062829] Tbh I dont think about Naija economywise. They are a useless country to compare with. I actually consider it an insult for anyone to say we will 'overtake' them. There's nothing to gain from them apart from entertainment. SA yes for sure. I want nothing else than Kenya infrastructure looking like RSA by 2030. I think the fears stoked by land expropriation rumors are already taking a toll. You can imagine when they finally start doing the dirty work. You can only wish them the best. I have always maintained that SA should have done the dirty work immediately they got independence. That time everyone was kinda anticipating things to change drastically and many would have swallowed it. Right now its real dirty work. Even Trump is taking a keen interest in the matter, siding with whites. And Malema is not coming down. I'm glad you said you " think ". Firstly you are the ones spreading rumours here , trump never said anything of tjat sort , it was the usual media with their fake arse news that released that senseless statement. The trump presidency and the American embassy in the capital of South Africa debunked the statement and distanced themselves on any American interferences on the process . The only people losing sleep over the land expropriation programme in south Africa are mostly right wing hillbillies in America, England , Australia and Israel and we all know why, and well ...there is nothing they can do about it lol. They are trying very much to push us to pull a zim , and we ain't falling for it one bit . We know even some pained Africans are wishing for it so that we would become another Africa that got their independence and land and then starved to death , it ain't happening . South Africa is South Africa, we are aware of our strengths and weaknesses even at our young age , in fact we seem to be more self aware than most of the old " independent " nations who seem to be only finding themselves in their 40s and 50s , I guess we are dealing with mostly later bloomers here . As for malema , I actually like his presence in our politics, in as much as he irritates me at times , he adds another flavour to the whole thing . South Africa is the home of diversity in Africa afterall , so it should reflect in opinions and actions as well. The world knows Malema first make decisions in south Africa but no one can deny his role in shaping our current politics , and he is here to stay whether people like it or not. In my opinion, South Africa as a country, particularly the African side of the population was in disarray; too much identity crisis . Most of them grew up in the urban parts of the country , meaning they had never seen even a tractor not to mention knowing how to plant a crop. The country had boarders within the country which lead to too many displacements , and many losses , so who was this land going to be given to ?. In my opinion the ANC did take longer than they should, but I believe strongly that somehow that delay helped a lot because there were going to be a lot conflicts in the 90s between the different clans in each province ( which was part of the reason we got captured in the first place). Now most of the country is sober, most people have been re-settled to where they belong ( Even though there are still minor disputes in other provinces ) , but most of the work has been done . It's left to each and every community to decide how they want their own process to be tackled, some bores and some communities are already cooperating with each other even before the constitution is amended to ease the transition. Will conflicts be avoided all over the country , definitely not! , but it looks better than we expected. The public engagements that lead to the decision to amend the constitution, that were all over the country were surprisingly productive without any major incidence of violent clashes between the two groups ( a sign of a maturing democracy). The government had instructed for heavy police presence in all venues , and even deployed the army to be close by in the most volatile parts of the country , just in case there would be " war" and the police would be overwhelmed. Surprisingly , not even the police had to get involved, the worst that happened were the walk- outs from dissatisfied spoilt brats. The question now is , will South Africa be another starving African nation even with all the land under our care ?. . I guess we will either prove to be different or just ................ Nowunuse and forgiveness , I understand all the land in Nigeria is under your care and ownership , why are there so many people recorded to be going to bed without food in Nigeria?. I'm not talking about the so called poor people in Nigeria, because I know how most Westerners are quick to label anyone poor as long as you don't live " their way " . We have people like the Northerners in south Africa, Lesotho, Namibia and Swaziland . They are said to be poor by Western standards but these people have never gone to bad with an empty stomach nor beg to be fed by any western organisations . So I'm not talking about those people, I'm referring to the people who are said to be starving, not only in the north , the southern part as well because we have seen reports of children being fed questionable meals at schools because of poverty at home. What is the cause of all this ?. Why is Nigeria who own not only the agricultural land but the oil and other mineral lands , take so much aid ? . How is this considered true independence?. And lastly, what is it with Nigerians risking death to cross over to Europe with everything you guys over there? .Educate me , I don't want to assume things. I know you have a lot of people in a little space , but really ?. Lastly , does nigeria sell land to foreigners ?. If so , are there any restrictions ?. . Kazikazi, I find the tanzanian way a lot more interesting than what I have seen with the so called old ""independences", I have heard a lot of referencing Tanzania during the national debates . Is the land owned by the state or individual families ?. I have never seen starving tanzanians from any credible media, " poor " yes but not starving . Do communities produce as a collective ( cooperatives) , or is it individual families doing the production?, I've heard conflicting reports on this . Do you sell land to foreigners, if so are there any restrictions on how much one is allowed to sell?. 2 Likes |

Fast moving consumer goods is the next in the service sector. Two Nigeria's companies are in the top 10 biggest consumers companies in Africa. Kenya is no where to be found. (See snapshot 1 and 2). Nigeria have 5 companies in the top 50 biggest consumers companies in Africa making them the third in Africa behind South Africa (12) and Morocco (10), but 2nd in terms of revenue generated with 4.48b dollars.(see snapshot 3). Kenya na small pikin. Bhuhahahaha!

We have reached a level where the government is investing billions of dollars in infrastructure like never before. We are experiencing an infrastructure boom but still we are 'a work in progress',we haven't reached there yet.We are not the finished article yet but I love the passion from the government in improving our infrastructure.Already,we are one of Africa's infrastructure powerhouses. There is still a deficit though in terms of funding, but what keeps us afloat is that everyone wants to work with us,the PPP(Public Private Partnership) model should ease our treasury balance sheets.Already roads, energy projects, homes and dams have recently seen investments through PPP.A british firm has already agreed constructing a 2 billion dollar dam without the government contributing a cent. We've signed multi billion deals recently with development partners like the EU and UN for the period 2018-2022.What makes it cool is that infrastructure is one of President Uhuru's agenda as he looks to end his final term. The man is keen to implement his agenda so as to secure his 'legacy'.The man is more ruthless and workaholic as he wants to leave back a vibrant country.Nothing will stop him from implementing his agenda(THE BIG FOUR AGENDA)We are heading in the right direction and I can see us reaching there, watch this space! That is classic cherrypicking. The report you're quoting is Deloite analysis of Top 50 LISTED FCMG companies. This is hardly representive of the fmcg sector but nevertheless Kenya had 2 companies. Nigeria had 5. Again per-capita wise - you should have had 8 - to reach Kenya level - or 12 to reach South Africa level. https://www2.deloitte.com/content/dam/Deloitte/ke/Documents/consumer-business/ea_APCP_Brochure_Digital.pdf forgiveness: 1 Like |

rvp2018: LOL, I find it hillarious if not downright condescending that you would think after all the processes undertaken in the country, we have no plans on how the economy is to be revived . Like really ?. We must be the biggest slowpokes to you geniuses from the eastern side lol. 1. Unemployment is a big problem in Africa, even to the countries who "sorted out " their land issues earlier on , together with extreme poverty cases , so South Africa is not alone. Contrary to popular narratives, South Africa is attracting investments , from Asia, Africa and Europe even with the policy uncertainty. The major issues we had with investors were the fears of their investments being affected or their properties seized ( which Ramaphosa has cleared with his world tour), that this is an internal issue that can nolonger be pushed back. Obviously you can't expect us to be most attractive African country at the moment , most potential investors have requested for the process to start and be concluded already so we can open shop again, hence the new rapid pace by our fat leaders. With the unemployment , it has slightly decreased. To reduce the " dependancy " on minerals , we have invested heavily on structures to grow our ocean economy , many jobs will be created , thousands of young people in coastal South Africa are undergoing the necessary training to tap into these new opportunities. Millions are injected in supporting new up and coming black industrialists , as part of the job creation campaign . With the land issue solved, there will be more players in the agricultural sector which is currently struggling due to the obvious. The government has put aside funds that will support the budding farmers and the department of trade and industry is giving nationwide export and import awareness campaigns and training to all those who want to join the sector. Many things are being done to look for alternative solutions incase our mining sector collapses , it's not like this decision was made yesterday . I'm glad you to said rhetoric. Those whitties you mentioned are the ones who are inviting to be attacked so as to create the zim crisis , and no one is falling for it fortunately . If anyone took their propaganda serious, then we would have the world watch- dogs requesting seats at our discussions like before , they are only taken seriously by people who are naive to their ways. How is immigration of African "bottom feeder " as you called them a new issue in south Africa? . We have been deporting unwanted immigrants in south Africa since the mid 90s, and we will continue doing so as long as they have no papers to be here . I don't know how that makes us anti- Africa, every African nation has it's rules and so do we , if you can't follow them, you will be sent back home like it's always been the case. SIMPLE!. Are you guys anti- Africa when you are deporting Nigerians?. Are Nigerians who are deporting people from Niger and Chad anti Africa? Why should we be labelled such when we do the same? . No one said it's going to be a walk in the park , but we are ready to face the challenges ahead. The last part is your opinion . What zimbos ended up doing and what South Africa is doing are completely different things . Kenya is not going through such challenges , why do you have such a huge unemployment rate , with all the peace and investor friendly climate?. Are you not concerned about the potential of rise in crime with black Kenyan youth, since they are mostly the affected group ?. Kenya is said to own all it's land since the 60s, what was done to ensure that the lands would; enrich the locals?, would ensure food security ?, the ones not connected to the political elite would not be shortchange and end- up at the periphery of things, like starving to death or running to the cities for food , therefore creating slums and chaos?. 1 Like |
