Why picking church? Are you against God? Be plain in your words. Are there not mosques everywhere? Are there not secret cults everywhere? First condemn evil?

God will end all these evils once all can know this secret:

U have made some valid points but it's quite dicey cos some might say its not d responsibility of churches 2 set up factories. D primary responsibility of d church is 2b d light of d world thru their conduct, character and behavior. But no one should serve God with empty stomach and that's were d church should play a role to ensure people can sustain themselves. That was d practice in Acts 4:34-35. Unfortunately, that isn't d practice today

this was exactly what Judas said. That the perfume poured on Jesus feet was a waste and could have been sold and the money given to the poor. Rebuke the voice of Satan over your head. Stop being influenced by the devil. The temple of God is never a waste. Renew your corrupted mind.

And in the so called progressive economy it is the pastors and the church that are building factories abi?
Mr. Economy grower oya tell us how many industries the church has built in USA, China, UAE, etc

Your hatred for the progress of the church need no excuse. You can just simply say i hate this. You have the right to hate, dont lie or make excuse.

You wont face bad politicians that we elected and are killing us and our economy, be there hating on pastors/churches that are carrying out their own calling.

Mr man religion is the biggest scam of all time... that's the main reason why the African continent is the most backward.

List the 10 most developed countries and list the 10 most religious countries.

About 80% of the most religious countries are on the African continent but not even one of them is among the 10 most developed economies in the world.

You religious type need to get your heads out of your asses and face reality.

Religion plays no part whatsoever in socio and economic development of a country!

To make matters once Christianity which you people hold on to so much is not even an African religion... the original proponents of the religion have since moved on cos they have realised that the time for religion has passed but you guys are still in self inflicted darkness cos you want to be more Catholic than the Pope and more Anglican than the Archbishop of Canterbury!!!

fashionale:
After independence, in order to build a great nation, each country went to work. But in Nigeria, after independence, our people went to pray and fast. So, while we were praying, Malaysia came here and took our palm seedlings and built a great factory of it. While we were praying, Singapore went into investment in technology. While we were praying, India went into ICT. While we were praying, China went to massive industrialization. While we were shouting Allah Alakuba! UAE went into massive infrastructural development. While we were binding and casting Lucifer, Japan went into technological development. While we were speaking in tongues, Denmark went into education of her citizens. While we were mounting big speakers in our places of worship, USA was mounting man on the moon.

After our prayers, God, being a wise God decided to reward us according to our labour. Since those that went into industrialization, technology, infrastructural development, ICT, education etc have been rewarded accordingly. It's only wise God rewards us with our efforts in prayers. That's why today, Nigerian pastors are competing in building the biggest churches. And we have the richest Pastors in the world.

That's why there are more prayer houses and worship places than hospitals and schools. That's why people rush to prayer houses for medical and business solutions instead of hospitals. That's why we don't do business proposals before jumping into business since we are going to back it up with prayers. And when it collapse, we blame devil. That's why it's a sin to say anything negative about pastors and imams. That's why our pastors don't consider the opinion of engineers while building and blame devil when building collapse. That's why faith in God replaces building pillars and when it collapse we blame it on Lucifer. That's why our pastors are making sure they plant church branches instead of schools in every streets in Nigeria. That's why we always wait for God to do that which ability to accomplish we already have in us. That's why we want our teachers to labour on earth and go to heaven for their rewards.Nigeria is a prayer loving, God fearing nation. Religion has taken the place of technology, infrastructure, education and all. When we are traveling, we ignore all the necessary road requirements, servicing of our vehicles and pray. And, once we pray, we can put a half fit vehicle on the road and blame our step mother or mother in law if anything goes wrong. That's why there are more people dying on our roads. Because, we pray and fast and leave everything to God when we have all we need to survive and build a nation....... I hope it made sense to you

Point of correction. Nigeria is a praying nation but not a God fearing nation. Nice piece though

Good edifice i must confess but one thing these men of God fail to realize is that Christ did not come to die for the building or the magnificent edifice which they call church Christ came to die for you and I. to transform our soul so that our lives can have a meaning here on earth. This is like putting the cart before the horse. Many lives would have been transformed if such resources is ploughed back to salvage the lost souls, help members who cannot put food on their table, create job opportunities for their members, feed the poor and give home to the homeless, help the orphan and the widows among them and so on this is Christ message but our Bishops and men of God are completely doing the opposite.
May God open their eyes and anoint them with eye salves to pursue the vision of heaven, that they should wake up and preach the message of the cross to deliver souls who are heading to hell on a daily basis. If the purpose of Christ's death on the cross if for the building then his death is in vain indeed.

how i wish that much as Nigeria is creating world record in the building of churches....so also, evils such as ritual killings and raping

and kidnapping of innocent Nigerians are reducing...but alas!...the opposite is the case!

how i wish more pastors will tell their congregations about heaven and show them the way to heaven through Christ love ..

but the opposite is also the case as pastors prefer to show the people more about money and evil is spreading like wild fire...this is shameful..

Flawed logic.

If i had 1million and pay 100k a tithe, i would have 900k

Those persons would have had much more if they weren't paying tithes.

I am not making any case for or against tithing though because i am indifferent.

I remember when this building was started, that was 2-3yrs ago and they said it will be completed in 2018. Now it has come to pass. This is the same Nigeria where we have been told several times that we will have stable power by so so year and it never happened. I know for sure that some government officials @ various level do worship here and they must have made everything possible to contribute their own to ensure completion of this edifice... But they can never do it when it comes to government projects..... I weep for this country.....

The best and most insightful comment here so far.

To be candid, I never really thought of it this way until you brought it up.

Really illuminating

In this age, you are still talking about temples made of wood and stones. God last lived in these types of temples ages ago. Our bodies are now the temples. Build the soul, not edifices.

And please, stop reading the Bible in isolation. The story about the perfume is metaphorical and had to do with Christ's foretold death. He made it clear that He would not always be with them. But do your pastors say these when they erect mansions in a country where millions are hungry?
the bible says the poor you will always have with you. So because there are poor people the church should have services under the mango tree? And pls don't say in this age cos the word of God is living and doesn't go out of date. Tanku
