Mcy56: Keep to your rules until you modify them. There are stocks I don't trade, even when ALL the time frames align technically. I watch them grow like wild leaves, I still never regret missing out. Insisting to make money from every stock that moves up is one sure sign of a trading account you will need a medical team hanging around when you are reviewing your trading records after some bad sharp turns in the general market. Sudden price changes should never conspire with your emotions to hack your trading account..... 3 Likes |

koma1: Depends. If you are going to be given a board position, proceed.... Else, view it this way, if you are hungry and you need to eat, do you buy cooked beans or poisoned bean seeds meant for planting... You are right either way. Each of them, at the right time MAY end up on your dining table. PERSONALLY: I NEVER do IPOs. The psychological scars I got in 2006 are indelible... 5 Likes |

Mpeace: Coming to the NSE I played around for a while and I budgeted 10K that I will lose, just to see how efficient the market is and test some other things. By the time I was done, I lost a total of 5.7K in small dips and commission fees. I am glad about that small school fees though, it made me test the waters well, though I made tiny gains, commission fees canceled it out. 1 Like |

This transcorp na one case study on its own. 20M bids can still drag price down even if its 500k offer. Mpeace, you will have to wait for another round trip before you can sell. |

DeRuggedProf: They don't want to settle into the unsettled dust surrounding oil price Oil price is key to the Nigerian economy and in turn the NSE. It's oil price that will determine the direction of the market now. OPEC and non-OPEC members have to act fast to cut output to bail out oil price. China is a major buyer of oil. With their economy slowing, as a result of the trade war with the US, oil import will reduce substantially, further worsening the glut. We are watching. 2 Likes |

GonFreecss1:Pple that go in and out at every shake will always lose to commissions. The worse part is that they don't realise it on time. 3% every now and then no be joke. |
Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by GonFreecss1: 1:07pm On Nov 22, 2018 |
Mcy56: Lol. I was right then. There is no way, there will be cheaper commission fees elsewhere and people will not flock there. |
Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by GonFreecss1: 1:11pm On Nov 22, 2018 |
Mpeace: It's actually almost 4%. I was not sad because I used the money to test the waters, I was even surprised I didn't use more than that. Warren Buffet has said it, that fees can be a gain killer. That's why since then, if I buy a stock, I buy it with no intention to sell, I always buy companies I would be happy to buy more if they drop in price. This is key, I have always been preaching about good companies and buying in small amounts instead of large buying due to emotions. |
