Hi all. Firstly its been quite insightful reading through people’s experiences and advise. From reading through i have been able to get answers for most questions i wanted to ask. And am really happy we have a platform like this where people devote time and patience to answer almost every questions asked. Keep up the good work guys. Lastly i want to ask are there anyone applying for FU Berlin, Kholn, Bielefeld and Bonn-Rheign-Sieg here all for Masters in Sociology and Analysis and design of social protection systems for the winter senester 2019. Kindly indicate so we can check in on what we have done and next steps and so on. Please do indicate, thank you! 1 Like |

B2 should take you less than a year. But if you mingle and force yourself to speak (your cut and join German) you would eventually start making sense sooner. Also depends on how much time you wanna put-in. I would advice you to start learning German from Nigeria. Throw yourself to it. Just like @hounorableseyi hinted, If yo come here bro/Sis you go ration your time ooo. Alot of wahala if you are doing Bachelors in Engineering( or STEM). Time no go too dey plus course work, hustle go tie you down. If you want soft small....avoid education in BAVARIA...i wouldn't say more than this.. Chriswazo: |

SooCute: Just laughing here about bavaria...where at the TUM fanatics? Only one state with dramatic auslanderbehorde(foriegners office) and weirdo Uni... My advice, learn basics German upto A2...look for mini job and face your studies 100%....look for internship or work student....dont com here for courses that are not marketable....during summer...work full time to save...prepare for life after studies....linkedin...xing etc. Employers dont employ based on university ranking here....this is not UK or USA...dont come here for MBA as well...if one school is difficult transfer your credit to another uni. God bless our hussle.. 13 Likes 1 Share |

SooCute: Learning the language really depends on how much time you can commit to it. If you have the regular heavy courseload with assignments and presentations, you will find it very hard to learn the language especially if what you are relying on is the very slow free school classes. To go really far, you need the intensive classes of 4 times a week of no less than 3hrs each day. With this, you will get to B1 (exam ready) level in exactly 6months. This will of course mean you have to do tons of work on your own. This kind of classes cost money, typically 260euros per month but with your blocked account information you get 50% off (at any VHS school) or 25% at some other schools (not all). The optimal way would be to learn up to A2 in Nigeria and then start from A2 for free in your school. When at B1 (should be in your 3rd semester then), you go for the B1 exam prep classes in a school outside where it is intensive and exam based. Else, take the regular classes in school till your 3rd semester (or the semester you got light workload) and then go for intensive classes from the level you are. Trying to combine full blown courseload with even mini jobs plus language classes will buckle most people and spreading the learning of the language over different times will not help at all. Plan it out and follow through..... 10 Likes 4 Shares |
