So you're still talking about guerrilla warfare? How is it guerilla warfare that you were notified in advance that you will be attacked, and then you're eventually attacked as promised - at your own base?

This is full blown, 'face me I face you' frontal warfare between a weak state actor and a non state actor. Full stop. It's no longer guerilla warfare in the real sense. Boko Haram isn't sneaking around. They're in your face. In your bases, again and again.

Let's stop making excuses for these incompetent cowards in the Nigerian military.

People talk anyhow.. I know for sure NA has snipers, but most snipers I know targets and kill their enemy when he is in a near static position (not running or walking). It's hard to snipe an enemy when he moves about. Furthermore, a sniper won't be that suitable for a boko haram attack due to the following reasons

1. The area is very large, and open: there isn't a really suitable sniping position to operate from.
2. When a sniper lock in a target to shoot, other enemies close by remains a probability. Because, you can't just concentrate on one target and u don't know the position or location of other enemies.

I quite agree with your assessment that the Nigeria military is incompetent, because if they are not incompetent, how was there no information about possible enemy movement? We have surveillance planes, how come none could pick up pictorial movement of heavy artillery? What about our surveillance drones? Anyone making excuses for the ineptitude of the military high command needs to get his head examined.
How can there not be 24 hours aerial surveillance of the entire Maiduguri that sits on the fore front of the war against boko haram?
My honest assessment is that even the Nigerian soldiers are way to relaxed for one in the war front.

According to the report, The Bh guys dressed as a military officer. Our boys were caught unaware and it was due to lacuna at the Chad's border.

My conspiracy theory;
Before the primaries there were several attacks. The goals are below

1. For financial gain: In every attack, settlements follow in order to avoid further attacks. They (politicians) had raised enough money for primary election, probably why they stopped the killings for some time.

2. To undermine the FG: We watch movies, we saw how Bh was used to undermined GEJ's government. Same thing is playing out here.

3. To reduce population of a particular community loyal to a party: Both PDP and APC are culprits. The politicians know where their opponents would have majority of vote, in politics, any means is a means to win.

Having said that, they(politicians) need money for campaign in 2019. Nigeria army, soldier, police infact all our forces should be aware of these selfish politicians.
