drakeli: I have a Sister who lives in the U.S with her family and they are all citizens...i filled that in my DS-160. My parents are U.S citizens as well and i also filled in their status in my application form. My visa was approved regardless. 2 Likes |

Princelyod:Nobody can answer that except the VO. If your bank balance is good enough to sponsor the trip then go ahead.. The thing is, the VO basically decides your visa fate within a few minutes. So alot of factors are put into consideration (the form and your presentation at the interview) |

PLEASE WHAT SUPPORT DOCUMENTS DO I NEED TO PRESENT FOR MY VISA INTERVIEW? AM GOING TO WRITE AN EXAM NEXT YEAR IN AMERICA BUT AM YET TO SCHEDULE MY EXAM DATE AND TIME BECAUSE I WANT TO GET THE VISA FIRST. DO USA EMBASSY STILL LOOK AT YOUR DOCUMENTS? |
Re: USA Visit Visa Part 3 by TheCongo2: 11:14pm On Nov 26, 2018 |
PinkSunset: Thanks. That is why I never agree with people on this forum who always tried to give a reason of a visa denial on the basis of a posted transcript. The transcript is only one of many other factors that visa officers take into account to make a decision. The transcript doesn't reveal if there is a red flag on the applicant's file nor a ban. 5 Likes |

Hello All, Pls has anyone successfully called for and retrieved his/her passport from the US embassy? Submitted via Dropbox since October 31st for my daughter and all the update I see when I check is application received. We need to travel to another country urgently and I have sent mails repeatedly to LagosNIV but got no response for over a week now, I’m at my wits end. Any leads will be appreciated. |

Good for u. Fortunately, a lot of ple have benefited from a constructive criticism of ple s transcripts. Some are even advised to reapply immediately and they got their visas eventually. I feel if we are honest with the transcript we post, we get reasons for such denials. Sometimes, no reasons at allll. TheCongo2: 3 Likes 1 Share |

drakeli:No. Having family there is not an express reason for refusal. It's all about your ties. If your ties are stronger in Nigeria it will motivate you to return. I know someone who's mother was refused a few years back because like 80-90% of family reside in the US. The VO then assessed her current status in Nigeria and felt she would lack sufficient motivation to return. No job, family...etc. 3 Likes 1 Share |

good day everyone , thanks for keeping this thread alive , I'm back again and I need so advise from my fellow nairalander , our interview date is next week Tuesday, we applied as a family ,hubby and I with three kids , reason for the trip is to spend the Xmas holiday in US and also celebrate my first child bday over there which is 24th of DEC .. my husband lives outside the country while I stay in nig with the kids , we do visit him whenever the kids are on holiday , now my husband requested I get a letter from my kids school stating that there ll b on holiday at the time we would b vacating in the US which i went to the school and they told me to bring 10k each per child for the letter .I have two kids there making 20k for just letter .. I got a letter free from my last child school cos he attends a different school from his siblings . my question is this is the letter from the school that important cos I find it too much to pay a school for just a letter since we didnt even state the name of their school on the form ? also I'm a fashion designer and also a pattern illustrator in a fashion school but hubby wrote home maker on the form which indicates I'm a house wife ,if they ask me what I do for a living ,what will b my reply ? is my statement of account also necessary since my husband is the the sponsor of the trip ? please nairaland help me with answers as I ll b glad to hear from you . thanks |

Maestro001:Sometimes you can decode by yourself. Reflect on your last interview and check the questions where the VOnhad problems with or stopped the interview at. Let me give you an example, my first and only interview with the US embassy was in 2014. I had a job(good one) but not married and never travelled outside of the country. After all formality question about purpose of visit, where and who I want to visit, questions about my job and salary, of which I answered. Then the lady VO asked if I was married, which I answered NO and then also ask if I had travelled outside of Nigeria which I also answered NO. Then she sat down on the stool, typed for abt 2 mins, then refusal. For me I know is travel history and family ties. So you can try to reflect on the interview questions, the paper given is generic. 2 Likes |

My own advise is forget about the letter; the odds of the VO looking at the letter is minute. The VO knows anyway that school children will be on holidays. What you should ask yourself is, what will bring you back to Nigeria once in the US? This is also known as ties. Once you can get multiple reasons that you can prove to the VO, including ability to finance the trip, you should be fine. bettyLad: 2 Likes |

MzYemie: We are kind of in the same boat. Mine is immigrant visa tho and I was approved but same status and they keep saying check email and ceac site. The best thing is to just calm down. |
Re: USA Visit Visa Part 3 by OmoBendel24: 1:53pm On Nov 27, 2018 |
ozymes: Pretty greedy, and annoyingly annoying. OP, you don't need the "yeye" letter for this US visa purpose please, to hell with the school for now please. Assess your ties to Nigeria, that's the most important thing to you as you have been told above by a previous responder. Nonsense! In fact, if you are not so much in love with the school, and they are not exactly meeting your desires for your kids, let this encourage to do them payback if possible! Mtcheeewww.... Meanwhile, I don't think the birthday celebration part sound great per se. Would be nice too if you state the name of that country you guys have always visited your husband in and return home. If it is well graded, that then should be a whole lot of advantage to your US visa application. 4 Likes |

Beautyaddy: We have loads of Dropbox, immigrant visas and non immigrant visas, approved for Nigerians all around the world (outside Nigeria) that are not seen by most of us, those could be accounting for the 45% ratio. But definitely not the physical number of approved persons you see at the Lagos or Abuja embassy of theirs, those one can never be more than 10-20% approval rate. 4 Likes |

Beautyaddy: I just wonder, people around me seem to be getting visas tho, even those invited after drop box. Most of the people commenting here seem to be the ones that have been rejected, that is why they feel they are rejecting everyone. Secondly, if the number of people applying for visa 2 years ago was 500people per month, now it is 2500 people per month, and then they grant only 250 as at last 2 years and still grant same 1250 this year, it would seem they rejected a lot of people but in actual sense it is same 50% they granted visas. I remember 2 years ago i could get appointment for the next month, worse case 2 months away, now i think appointments dates is already April and we are just in November...hmmm 4 Likes 1 Share |

OmoBendel24: And how were you able to come to such conclusion? Nobody lives in the US embassy except the VO's that work there. They alone are in a much better position to give accurate stats of each visas they approve per countries. 3 Likes 1 Share |
