I believe they called to confirm my account statement, cos my bank didn't give much details b4 the caller hanged up, Caller confirmed my name and also if I av an application that all, she hanged up.

Let me answer your questions because I have the same questions before coming here in SA
Predstan:
Hi Guys. I have a few question and they are thus

1. What are the opportunities for HND holders in South Africa. Do they get into Bsc(Honours) and what's the duration

There are lots of opportunities, then you have to do your BSc(Hons) for full time, it’s one year but part time it’s two years

2. What is the average tuition for universities in SA to study for Honours degree and does it automatically get you into Masters Degree?

The tuition fees varies from school to school and yes it get you to do your Masters Degree with good grades

3. What's the cost and waiting time to complete SAQA and is the application for SA universities still open?

If you’re evaluating your HND Certificate only then be looking forward to R1900 apart from the courier, based on the one I did recently and the waiting time is 15 days

Nb: I applied for Masters at Stellenbosch and University of Capetown but was rejected because my degree is not an equivalent of the minimum requirement

Apply for BSc(Hons), your evaluation level will be NQF 7 and your BSc(Hons) will precede you to Masters

I am very appreciative with this response to my enquiries. What is the average one will spend for Bsc(honours) and can one cater for himself without sponsor?

If i understand you correctly, you are planning to attend a conference 9th of 11(November) or 9-11 December? And you plan on departing naija on 7th December?

Well if so, i dont see any reason why you cant go ahead and apply. You just need a very structured motivation letter as to why your application should be processed very quickly. Just draft it in your own words.

If you need help, i can send you some sort of draft to use. Some months ago, a young man(he contacted me here on Nairaland too) was almost in your predicament here and i wrote a letter for him and his study visa was processed within days. He's now in SA studying though he stopped contacting me now that he's enjoying southy girls(ha ha). It's a free help and im not demanding anythin.

Good day oga.. I have been reading this thread because my Hubby is planning to embark on a marine course in Capetown. Please how can we go about this letter to speed up his application? The school resumes on January 28th. We intend to apply at Lagos, any useful tips will be appreciated. We want the visa out before school resumes hopefully. Thanks.

Where in Lagos can I submit my application for Visiting Researcher application? I have been to their embassy in Lagos before but wondering if they are still using the embassy for submission. Also, which days of the week can I submit my application. Thank you.

ECSA isnt the only Engineering Regulatory body in South Africa and seriously they delay candidates evaluation for up to 6 months. There's another one and it's also recognized for your evaluation and membership. I will ask my friend and i will let you know.

Boss we still waiting for the Alternative answer to ECSA
Thanks

Your best bet would be to visit the websites of your proposed instituions. Check the fees. Add in accomodation charges for the entire year. Factor in feeding and entertainment and you will have a figure.

Well, you can survive without a sponsor if you pay yoir fees upfront and in full. Sort your accomodation (either pay or stay with someone for free). Food is cheap. You will figure your way as you navigate South African living

Good day house I have a medical issue that needs urgent attention. Me dad resides in South Africa and he asked me to come over for proper treatment over there. Now he asked me to get a letter from the hospital am using down here and have done that also he has sent a letter to me from the hospital am going to be treated. Plz what other necessary documents do I need to fastened my getting visa on time. Thanks

One of the most pre-requisites for gettin medical visa is to put down a deposit at the SA medical facilities ans submit your receipts along with your prognosis certified by the Nigerian doctor who recommended you to obtain medical attention outside Nigeria. Lastly, Bank statements for person payin all expenses would be needed.

Do you think they will grant Critical Skills Visa with SAIEE (I'm an Electrical Engineer). In fact I've gone through the registration process for SAIEE, and it looks quite straight forward. But from my understanding SAIEE is just an organization (just like as we have NSE in Nigeria (Nigerian Society of Engineers)), ECSA I believe is the statutory body that regulates engineering in SA, just like as COREN regulates engineering in Nigeria.

Please I will appreciate if you can throw more light on this.

I appreciate your response sir.

@Anfield boss

Hello sir,

Yes indeed ECSA is the "Statutory body" for Enginering in SA. Now, What this simply means is that as a Statutory body-it was created by law or with the approval of the SA parliament. Whilst SAIEEE is a "non-Statutory body" which means it didnt nees Government laws to bw formed by goverment actions only -let's say more like "to fill in the blanks" for Statutory Bodies.

That being said, if i recollect i had previously early this year advised some Nairaland members in the IT sector to use IITPSA, which is a "non statutory body" for their critical skills application from Nigeria and they got their visas.
So simply put, you can procees.

I can’t be certain on the average but you can check the schools website for more information.
Then about catering for yourself without sponsor depend on the money you can fall back on in Nigeria but to get work here is very hard and if you’re coming to school then face school squarely till you finish your BSc(Hons) after then you can think of job which with luck you will get a good one, also while doing your masters if you’re very good academically you can get a teaching assistant job.

Hi,

Please I’ll appreciate if anyone can shed more light on the following;

1. I work in a micro finance bank and my salary is paid into my account with the bank. Can I submit the SOA from the Microfinance or it has to be from a commercial bank?
2. Can my parent sponsor me even though I work and earn ok? If yes, do I still need to provide my salary account and my Target savings account statement (both with the microfinance bank) totaling about 450k?
3. Can my sponsor deposit the money in my account and state in the sponsorship letter that she deposited the money in my account and also provide her statement which will show the transfer?
4. Is there any point getting a letter of introduction and stamped payslips from my company (since I’ll have to leave the job if my visa is granted).

***For better understanding of my questions I’ll be applying for a “short term visa exceeding 3 months”***

I hope to hear from someone soon.

Thanks.

Thanks sir, I'm actually looking at coming to SA via PhD, this critical skill visa thing is like a risk for me as I'm gainfully employed here in Nigeria... My fear is that what if I'm unable to secure a good engineering job within the one year I'm given...

On the other hand, I believe after my PhD (if I take this route) I'll be eligible for Permanent Residency which will give me more opportunities...

.bros, how is it going with work and family? I tried to send a PM. I am not sure it went through. I am in Pretoria 16th to 18th before I return to Jo’burg, I wanted to know if I am able to see you. I wouldn’t know if you remember me but you helped out at the beginning of the year when I needed some information.

Boss will it fly, because even SAQA doesn't recognize SAICE as a professional body from the list I found on their website. Boss do you know anybody that has gotten CSV through this route, please don't be offended of being inquisitive. Thanks

Hello my brother/sister,

My advise is not cast in stone, which means you dont have to adhere to it. Im just here to advise people on this Forum. I have explained the difference between Statutory and non-statutory. When you SAQA doesnt recognise SAICE it doesnt mean they wont evaluate them nevertheless.

Re: General South Africa Visa Enquiries by Nobody: 9:02am On Nov 30, 2018
I'm forced to reconsider this delay in visa issuance by the South African Embassy as a deliberate one.

It makes no sense! There should be SLAs that govern operations such as this and if they are falling behind, they ought to have sent a bulk of the applications to other locations/countries - UK does same.

But hey, this is Nigeria so BS walks.
