SCAM ALERT I was checking through Kijiji for rent today and I stumbled on a two bedroom house in Etobicoke for $800 per month. I contacted the owner and he sent the house description to me. He said he works with the United Nations and have been transferred to Vancouver from Ontario, so he is renting his house out to someone who can take care of the house. In fact, his offer was awesome. I assured him that I take care of his house if he rent it out to me. Immediately, he requested for my personal details and few history like an authentic landlord. I was playing along. He now said he is not around that he will send the keys to the house via FedEx overnight delivery and I should proceed with payment. As someone who has stayed with Yahoo boys in a flat before and still have them as friends, I know where he was heading to. I told him he should send the keys that I will make the payment immediately I get the keys. He objected that he will have to pay to send the keys. I told him to send the keys and I pay for postage in addition to the rent. He said it doesn't work like that. Later, he requested that I should send $200 then, I laughed and I said to myself that this guy doesn't know who he is dealing with. It is God's favour that didn't make me become Yahoo boy because I had everything in my disposal to become one some years ago. I just ended my conversation with him by telling him that he doesn't know the tips and tricks of SCAM. He is dealing with a bloody African man. So guys, beware of scammers who will pose as landlords. The house hunt continues 63 Likes 6 Shares |

Yep them don plenty everywhere. Had similar experience when I was looking for a flat on kijiji, a colleague mentioned she had same experience too. Anyway Naija 101 should keep us alert.. Canada no mean say foreign fraudsters no dey. Lets all be alert as usual. When I came here.. I was on one of them streaming sites, next thing I get one of those pop up ads n it says my computer had been locked and I should call "Microsoft" for a technician to unlock it. I called the number and someone with an accent picked and said I have to pay. My antenna started standing at that point, but I was freaking out, cos I couldn't leave the screen. I googled Miscrosoft care and the number was different from the one on my screen and the person was still blabbing. Anyway, I called my bro and he told me it was a scam, that I should just turn off the wifi and turn off my computer. na so I escape oh. While this was going on, I called my bank immediately and blocked all my cards "forst".. This happened less than a week after I landed so I was pretty shocked. jelmusboy: 19 Likes |

Hello all, Landed last week through YYC from Europe and the whole process was soo smooth. Did my documentations at the airport and no POF was asked. Rested the next day and went out to open an account with TD Bank and also sorted out social insurance the third day. I have lived in over 12 countries(UK,USA,NIGERIA,FRANCE ETC) but coming here for the first time,I must say that the other countries rank below Canada. My only observation so far, please beware of UBER drivers from Jubril's country as they dont end trips and iI have had to challenged them thrice, dont know if the extra dollar(s) will make them buy a mansion in Banana. In all, it is a lovely environment. cheers 45 Likes 2 Shares |

Maybe they recently allowed that option. Prior to now, it was either their office or GTB payment. UdomoLeinad: |

Nope. Their account numbers are listed on their website. I did a transfer to one of them and they sent my ticket via my registrated email. It's a simple process. rainazoe: |

As a lawyer in Nigeria who wants to go into HR in Canada, will I do some bridging courses there or do I have to get a degree there? Are some online courses I can take while in Nigeria to make it faster instead of waiting till I get there? 2 Likes |
