The difference is what they are to tax! This are the sources of income of our county governments https://www.epickenyan.com/sources-of-county-government-revenue-in-kenya/ .Bring out Nigeria's federal state sources of revenue! forgiveness: |

Nairobi obviously generate the bulk of taxes but it's not allowed to collect a single tax.All taxes are collected by national gov.The counties are entitled to at least 15% allocation of previous year audited collectipns.National gov retain bulk of gov service including education, police service, name them. Our counties are not State. They way less powerful. So we can compare all revenues generated at all levels. 68816419: 1 Like |

forgiveness: Whichever way you argue, what matters is the total revenue collection by both countries in which Kenya collects more than Nigeria which is extremely embarrassing because Nigeria has 4 times more people than Kenya. It's like Rwanda or Burundi collecting more revenue than Kenya. All Nigerians should be ashamed of even commenting on this issue. 3 Likes 1 Share |

NairobiWalker:what you guys fails to recognize is the fact Nigeria operates like a continent, they have their state capital's, all states care less on federal government on what they generates, they make and fund their budgets, they build state projects with their IRG some times external supports, they only get certain percentage of what federal government generates and allocate to them.

rvp20182,It seems that the SACCOS boom and the cap rate aren't banks main headache. It looks like Fintech is the real threat. Our banks should now be innovative going forward or else loose the edge they've been having.Anyway I think banks are here to stay but going forward they should be more smarter or risk becoming more and more obsolete.I personally can't remember the last time I withdrew cash via atm or bank tellers thanks to mobile money.Diversity, technology and regional expansion is what will keep Kenyan banks afloat in the future.Mobile money that was once a threat to the banking industry is now very much supported by banks.Banks moved in and now the mobile money system is intertwined with the banking system! Fintech is also now looking to eat into the insurance industry, talk of Mtiba that has had success in the issuance of health insurance to Kenyans.Fintech will disrupt many sectors.I'm keen on seeing how this development will sprout about in the near future! Banks are now lending big to the government! The banking market has changed a bit it seems! https://www.nation.co.ke/business/McKinsey-says-fintechs-threat-to-Kenyan-banks/996-4873458-lr5hhr/index.html 2 Likes |

68816419: All these are useless as long as your total revenue collection is low. You can do a million subdivisions but your total revenue collection is still embarrassing, you could operate like a universe but that won't magical increase your revenue collection. 1 Like |

68816419: Comparing revenue collection from our counties to your state's is just misleading and ego-massaging to your side. We all know these are two different countries with different constitutions - unless you bring us a breakdown of which taxes your states are allowed to collect vis a vis the same that our counties are allowed to collect. Bring me the total revenue collection by your government (Federal government + states) and we can compare with Kenya's total (National government + counties) then we can talk. 3 Likes |
