I think Sony were going to give the rights back to Disney if Venom flopped but it didn't

1. A character which had so much potentials in a R rated blockbuster was wasted on bland PG 13 money grabbing scheme.
Venom is very violent character through and through.
It's not a surprise that he talks about eating human heads and he has teeth to tear victims apart and create a bloody scene.
But instead of giving us a scary symbiote, the PG13 gives us a pussy cat with sharp teeth for fancy.

2. The pacing in this movie is terrible.

The first part was slow and good. We got to know Eddie Brock, his work, his motivation, his personal struggles and the transition from a average guy to Venom's host.

The second part of the movie was rushed.
The director was more interested in jumping from one plot point to another in so little time with the cheap action flicks while paying little attention to proper character development.
Little wonder Riot turned out to be a big pile of poo.

3. The action sequences were rushed, boring, disorganized and all over the place.
Especially that Riot vs Venom fight which felt like a painter throwing different colours on the wall to see what sticks.
The motorbike/car chase was cheesy as well.
I've seen better chase before.

4. The CGI is average and sometimes just piss poor.
SONY is very capable of doing a better job but NO.. They rather do some cheap action flicks.

5. Character development was just piss poor.

Michelle Williams is just an average typical good girl.
She is also boring and can't even act like she's seen a monster. Her dialogues were crap as well.

Venom is just average.
We barely understand him cuz the story was rushed.
Funny how he went from "let's eat his head" to "let's save the world " under 24 hours.

Rid Ahmed is a typical corporate villain.
Super boring and barely intimidating as a villain.

Riot... I got nothing much to say about this one.
We barely know a thing or two about him.
Plain rubbish.
The worst comic book villain I've seen in a long time and the worst thing about this movie.

6. Lazy writing and plot holes/unanswered questions.

Carlton Drake tries to get host after host to bond with the Symbiotes with zero luck but Riot miraculously manages to find a series of perfect hosts during his trip from Malaysia, all of whom seem to be perfectly fine after he moves on from them. It's never explained how this happens or how the Life Foundation CEO just so happens to also be a match for Riot; again, this is shitty storytelling.

We never get much of an explanation for how the Life Foundation came across that asteroid full of Symbiotes, how they managed to just steal a few, or how far from Earth it was supposed to be.
So, with that in mind, how did Riot intend on flying a spaceship out into the unknown to find his people? For that matter, when did Carlton Drake find time to learn how to operate that by himself and how would they have kept thousands of Symbiotes alive on the way back to Earth? It makes zero sense.

Riot planned on going home and returning with an army of symbiotes. However, he didn't have a plan to get back. The symbiotes were forcibly brought to Earth so they didn’t know the planet's coordinates or have a big enough vessel to bring them back. In fact, how did they even have a plan to invade Earth if it wasn’t even their plan to be on the planet in the first place?

Venom is just an average movie.

It is not as bad as critics say it is but it is not good enough either.

You even forgot how Venom having found the perfect host in Brock, immediately found a perfect host in Michelle just because she's Brock's ex. What are the odds, really? Then Riot finding the perfect hosts in all it encountered is amateur storytelling. Very childish script.


I'll rate it 6/10 because of the action scenes only.

I don't think the issue is compatibility here.

What happened is these creatures are getting hungry creatures and they eat their hosts from the inside out making then tear up..

Where there is need for action, these creatures tend to remain calm and use the hosts capabilities

That mean it prefer Brock and also allow the dog and Michelle for the main time.
As for riot, it also said to venom your host is strong so I think they are conscious of there hosts

Some host are strong enough to carry the symbiote and some are weak...good.

So how did Riot know how to keep selecting strong hosts but those human trials failed.
Is being a strong host written on the face cuz Riot only had to look at a new host, touch it and voila.... He finds a strong host again.
Riot's hosts didn't show any pain or struggle.
It was a clean process which Riot ends up controlling the host like a robot.

How is this possible?

How did Riot always know how to choose the right host ?
