IF Udom was Buhari!

IF is a conjunction that is used when introducing a conditional clause, or a hypothetical situation among others. More often, it is used to express a wish, especially regret.

I attest to use the word IF to describe two Nigerian leaders and their leadership traits in the last three and half years in office. One is Mohammadu Buhari, Nigeria's president and candidate of the APC for the 2019 presidential election, while the other is Udom Emmanuel, Governor of Akwa Ibom state and PDP candidate for the 2019 Governorship election.

Howbeit, President Buhari since assuming office has consistently blamed past leaders for his dismal performance in office three and half years running, rather than take charge and responsibility. The Buhari administration has also preoccupied itself in blaming the nation’s economic woes on past regimes instead of taking practical steps to address the many issues at stake.

This is where Mr. Udom Emmanuel's leadership of Akwa Ibom state is distinct. Governor Udom has taken charge of running Akwa Ibom state without blaming any past administration or leaders.

Thus, IF Governor Udom was Buhari who on assuming office till date blames former President Goodluck Jonathan and the PDP at every point, will on assuming office in 2015 like Buhari, blame Senator Godswill Akpabio for the economic woes and debt profile of Akwa Ibom state from 2007-2015. He would insist that Akpabio misused, misapplied and misappropriate state funds that is why the state didn't do well economically before he assumed office in 2015.

IF Udom was Buhari, he would tell the world that Akwa Ibom under "Akpabio's PDP" was terrible and could not fend for her people because Senator Akpabio was used to giving Akwa Ibom people's money to party faithful in Port Harcourt, one million naira each to buy meat pie at Mr. Biggs for lunch.

IF Udom was Buhari, he would have blamed Senator Akpabio for the opinion of the National Bureau of Statistics, NBS, that Akwa Ibom ranked high in the level of joblessness in the country because Senator Akpabio didn't fulfil the promise to build 31 industries even when it was incorporated in the budget.

IF Udom was Buhari, Senator Akpabio and some members of his family would have been probed for enriching themselves with state funds and plundering the economy of the state.

IF Udom was Buhari, he would have set up a commission of inquiry to look into the activities of Umana Umana, Nsima Ekere and other APC chieftains who held key positions in the state between 2007 to 2013 and they would have been indicted for corrupt practises, self enrichment and blacklisted from holding any public office in the state.

IF Udom was Buhari, the APC would not have been granted permission to use the Uyo township stadium for campaigns and rally as often and as frequently as they currently do.

IF Udom was Buhari, Nsima Ekere's Billboards will not have adorned streets in the state capital, Uyo and beyond as if he was a member of PDP.

IF Udom was Buhari, Akwa Ibom people would have been asking Senator Akpabio Serious questions about the Tropicana complex, the 31 industries promised and failed, the Uyo-Ikot Ekpene Highway, the "first and best" drainage system in Africa, the supposed construction of 12 kilometers 8 lanes ring road reduced to two lanes, the construction of Etebi-Ewang Road plus bridge in Mbo LGA and the Four Points by Sheraton Hotel, Ikot Ekpene.

IF Udom was Buhari, Senator Akpabio will not enter Akwa Ibom state through the Victor Attah International Airport or pass through the VIP lounge because Buhari would want to show that he is in charge. IF Udom was Buhari, the APC would not be allowed to place advertorials on AKBC radio and television - a privilege APC is are enjoying in Akwa Ibom state today.

But Udom is not Buhari. Udom is a man of peace. Not deceitful. But sincere and honest. A gentleman and a democrat, who believes in the freedom of citizens as enshrined in the constitution of Nigeria.

That is one of the reasons Akwa Ibom people love Governor Udom because he is not and can never be seen in the shoes of those who have continually defiled our constitution and acted tyrannically.

Akwa Ibom deserves the best and in Governor Udom Emmanuel, they cleave.

So, should I now assume that udom is a fool, or coward for keeping closelip over such a monumental fraud that goes under akpabio regime,... You see, I hate lifeless people, udom is neither here or there, udom together with akpabio milk akwaibom dry, if he spill, he hurt himself too, is reason for keeping mute, but whether udom win or not, it's all glory knowing that Akpabio can never be a godfather again, for he got no gut to control nsima,... All the same #onofiok2023
