A Nigerian man, Mike Obioma, has shared the heartbreaking video showing the moment a Nigerian couple lost their child in a government-owned hospital because they had no money to pay doctors for them to commence treatment.

Obioma who says he has gone as a spy to several hospitals with a camera planted on him, shared the video on his Facebook page and wrote

''Imagine a country where little babies die helplessly.

So I went undercover to some government hospitals, planted camera on myself to show you the level of corruption and ineptitude in our Nigerian hospitals. In the past months have travelled to more than 10 government hospitals in Abuja, Nasarawa, Benue and Plateau State NorthCentral Nigeria.
This shocking Live Video is one of the numerous babies I watched die right there in a government funded hospital. Infact this particular hospital this was the 3rd baby that died within 8 hours of my stay there.

This man Mr Christopher had rushed his baby boy to the hospital that day. He was showing signs of severe illness. One doctor attended to him and told him to go buy card the baby needs to be placed on oxygen. Mr Christopher after buying the card pleaded that he didn't have enough money but he will call his relatives in a bit that treatment should commence immediately to save his boy's life. All those fell on deaf ears he was abandoned there like an animal until his son passed away right inside the hospital. I was the one who gave Christopher 500 naira to go home with his profusely weeping wife and bury his child. I have been calling him since then I have his phone number. I feel deeply sorry for this man.

This is that Animalistic characteristics of Nigeria hospital both Bulhari and Atiku can't change.

But, if economy was favorable, they should at least have money to threat.

Never again never Buhari again

The truth is, we need trillions of naira to guarantee good health care.

And before you insult the health workers, the problem is most hospitals are broke from treating patients free of charge. People come to hospital, get free treatment, and run away without paying .affects both private and public hospitals

Then there is the fact of late presentation. I do not know the child history, but it is possible the child would have died even if oxygen had been put on because it is too late.

And before anyone calls us health workers heartless.,some of us dip into our pockets and pay for these type of patients. I know. I used to be one of those medical staff who did that, and when it starts telling on your pocket....

Before we blame the health workers let's consider if they really have nothing to treat the child with. Patients purchase what they need themselves in most govt hospitals

Yo action is worse than this hospital. You have been waiting seeing 3babies die for the purpose of making a report? why not save a life by paying for oxygen for the baby. I do hope you have a better reason for valuing to video rather than helping save life.

Did you go to help or to aggravate issues?

If you wanted to help, you could have saved life of one of those kids.

You are even worse than the health sector. Your intentions were bad.

I usually don't get angry here on Nairaland, but I think that this doctors and nurse abuse has gone far enough.

I used to work in one private hospital. One night a guy came with his heavily pregnant wife. Wife was having obstructed labour. Husband begged doctor to do operation : money would come later. The doctor...my oga then...did the op. Up till today, husband has not dropped a single penny.

Keep in mind that government hospitals also rely on the revenue they generate in a year....

The reason why they rejected that patient was not because of demons and fallen angels...but because far too many patients are owing bills, and when it begins to affect the perfomance of the hospital...ie in dealing with overheads, providning some essential materials....you have to make a choice.

Treat people for free and go broke...or start being firm...and save money, and jobs.

So please, stop insulting us....especially as some of us use our salary to pay for patients...without expecting reimbursment. And we have dependents and families too.

Grow up.
