Greetings...

Pls, take your time to read and pardon my grammatical blunders. I am confused on what decision to take.

I'm an Optometrist(female) currently on internship in one of the government teaching hospitals in Nigeria aiming to go for my masters degree next year July. Though I wanted to go for Msc after NYSC bc I feel I still need more clinical/practical exposure(I had my externship in a government hospital where we were restricted). But my dad insisted I do it before it....I agreed bc it's an opportunity to get the exposure and also get an additional degree.

I initially concluded on Manipal University, India but many people are discouraging me. They keep insisting that US and Canada is better. From Wikipedia, Canada has only one English speaking school offering Msc optometry and their fee is quite high.

On a second thought, US has more schools but I need one with lots of life practicals? Is it possible to get my US visa and admission before July

Pls, your opinions are needed

I will advice you to go to Canada or USA, take the bridging exams, it will take you about two to three years, then get your self registered as a full optometrist in any of those countries, it's stressful but you will smile at last.

Am an Optometrist too, but trying to register with the council at Ireland, since Canada is expensive

Besides MSC in Optometry is useful if you want to lecture, outside lecturing, no need, residence is more useful

Hello Queen, do you reside in Nigeria or Ireland? beside cost, can you share the other reason you are registering with the council in Ireland and is it possible to register in Ireland without going through a bridging program there?

Yea... I know. I have no interest in lecturing but Since my dad insisted and it's also for my good, I'm going for it.

My dear am in Nigeria, just visit this website www.coru.ie, you will get all the information you want about registering with Ireland's council.
you can also try UK's registration on www. optical. org
both can take more than one before registration, but it's worth waiting.
