A man was laid to rest in style on Saturday at his hometown in Mbabu, Konshisha local government area of Benue State.

According to online sources, the man "refused to be buried in a coffin" as he was laid to rest with a bed and wrapper in a low-key funeral attended by family members and friends.

Aoraan Festus took to Facebook to share pictures from the burial and wrote; “History was made today at Mbabu, Shangev-tiev in Konshisha local government area as late Ajingir Tsa goes home as he refused to be buried in a coffin.”

This has left internet users confused as to how a dead person can 'reject a coffin' in his lifeless condition. 

Some believe that the deceased gave instruction not be buried in a coffin before his demise as others who claim to know the family also confirmed the news.

MY OPINION THOUGH

burying a dead man the same day, is not the best. sometimes a half-unconscious man 'll be buried, only to wake-up inside the grave, to realise he has been buried. just immagine the agony of dying inside a grave.

Whatever happens to the body is of no consequence as the real thing has gone to either heaven or hell.

No surprise here. I saw many people buried without coffin as a kid, just a few decades ago. Nothing special about coffin.

I'm more interested in the tunnel burial that I thought was not that common outside my place in 9ja. Though the side/extra chamber is 6 feet deep in my culture.

I am 1000% sure that it can't be because of insufficient funds....Tiv ppl would tax all the married daughters and cousins from that family and extended family and also tax all the men and relatives....The church can also single handedly foot the bills in cases of the very poor families.....etc etc..
