Unknown gunmen struck on Monday night (yesterday) in Opu-Nembe (Bassambiri), Bayelsa State, leaving trail of blood in their path. 

It was gathered that the suspected cultists gunned down a young man during the brutal attack and fled before security agents could arrive. 

The reason for the killing is still unknown as at the time of filing this report as it was scooped from witnesses that the deceased was killed in cold blood for 'no reason', while some linked the attack to cult-related war in the area. 

The corpse of the deceased has been deposited in a mortuary and the police said to have begun investigation into the death after being notified.
