Presidential candidate of the Young Progressive Party (YPP) for the 2019 general elections, Prof Kingsley Moghalu, says he is ready to spar with President Muhammadu Buhari at the presidential debate organised by the Nigerian Elections Debate Group (NEDG) and the Broadcasting Organisation Of Nigeria (BON).

Moghalu also said he hopes the nation's president honours the debate invitation extended his way by the organisers.

Buhari and the then opposition APC refused to participate in the March 2015 debate, citing an "avalanche of inflammatory statements, misinformation and blatant lies propagated by" some of the media organisations who put the debate together.

The NEDG/BON vice presidential and presidential debates for the 2019 elections are slated for December 14 and January 19 respectively.

Moghalu says he is happy that his party, the YPP, made the debate cut.

“I want to thank BON and NEDG for the invitation to debate ideas and how to fix Nigeria on January 19, 2019. Hopefully, the President or any of the other selected candidates will not dodge this very important debate because that will be a huge shame and a disservice to our dear nation”, Moghalu said.

Moghalu added that he considers it an honour that his running mate, Umma Getso, was also invited for the vice presidential debate scheduled for Friday, December 14.

“Getso and I are the best tag team for the job and Nigerians will find this out during the scheduled debates. The YPP is ready for this debate and I am ready to take on President Muhammadu Buhari.

“This is what I have always advocated. That candidate’s must earn every vote and a televised debate for the nation's number one job is one sure way to earn those votes. The YPP made the cut from a long list of 91 political parties and 73 presidential candidates. That alone tells you how much ground we have covered since I declared I was running and how much impact we have made nationwide.

“No other presidential candidate has worked as hard as I have all year to earn the votes and confidence of Nigerians. On February 16, all of the efforts that the YPP have put in, will be rewarded. The debate is just another step forward for us on our way to Aso Rock”, Moghalu said.

My mother Akhare Flora O. Has kidney disease and has been surviving with the help of dialysis machine which is very expenssive and I'm not rich also I'm her only child and the only one taken care of her.

My mother is a staff of Ikpoba Okha Local government from Owan West Edo state. She is 48yrs on the 15th of this month is her Birthday. She is a single mother of one presently with me here in Lagos since April this year.
She was diagnosed with end-stage renal disease in April 2918.
Presently, she goes for renal dialysis twice a week as against the recommended three times a week due to fund constraint.

According to the doctors, she urgently needs a kidney transplant which can be done in India.

The steps I have taken so far for a Fundraising is:

I have written so many letters to the Edo state governor via Chief of staff, via ministry of women affairs & development via DHL and also through one uncle. Another letter to the deputy governor of Edo state I have contacted so many politicians in Edo state. I have the submitted requested documents to AIT Alagbado for announcement. I have written letter to Kokun, Williams Uchemba and KBK foundations I have contacted so many celebreties via Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. Even my Twitter has been suspended. Then Vanguard and the nation's newspaper have published it. Punch reporter came around to interview my mother and I at home and they promised to work on it soon.

So far we have spent close to N1.2m on dialysis, blood transfusion, injections drugs, transportations and hospital admission.

As I type now we have just N16k left not even enough for another section of dialysis and she is due for dialysis and blood transfusion as her pcv is below 25.

One major challenge I do face is that, people don't believe me they don't even take time to read my messages cus many are scared that I'm a scammer which I have never done before. I have taken her to Churches too. Pastors have also prayed for her on phone. Some pastor from nairaland here who saw my story.

Nairalanders I'm on my knees begging you all to kindly assist me financially again to enable me take her to hospital for dialysis and the blood transfusion though from Apollo hospital India, they told us to budget like 12m naira for a kidney transplant we have a donor already(me).

Moreover, high-sounding and smooth-talking experts do not always guarantee practical specific solutions for specific problems. And indeed there is NO one way to the market. The people Buhari is working with are experts too. Under his strong leadership, they have been able to stabilize the economy and lay ground for much desired diversified and productive economy.

In a country where tribalism and religious sentiments have no basis, these are the guys who we should be campaigning for. He knows so much about the digital age, economy, international relations etc.
We all know (pro and anti Buhari) that Buhari cannot stand this guy in intellectual debate.
But because we are deeply involved in sentiments lets continue to pretend and keep shouting Sai Baba, Sai Atiku

This is major problem with these people . They just see this debate as an opportunity to show themeleves on how good they are in criticsing .
See this one he's sole aim is to come and tear Buhari apart rather use the opportunity to tell Nigerians how he intends to solve our problem.

We all generally had this believe that the man called Buhari would pulverized corruption. People would have created a shrine to worship Buhari if he had died without ruling Nigeria. People would have sited example of a clean and an epitome of statesmanship with him. He would have been described to be a spartan who once lived. But all this have evaporated into thin air with the opportunity given to Buhari to rule. Who knows Buhari would have been a good president when he was much younger. At this stage in his life, Buhari can offer little or nothing to the growth of Nigeria. I would vote Aisha Buhari if she stands with Buhari himself to be the president.
