Good eveing oga Gazzuzz,

I need your help with my Hyundai Sonata 04, The car was bought as Nigeria used car with swap engine (Mazda engine was installed in the car at the point of purchase). Though, it smoked as at when it was purchased. Some basic services carried out on the car, like engine oil replacement after purchase leads to car jerking which fuel pump was fingered but it does not abate.

Fast-forward to three months later, a new hyundai sonata 04 tokumbo engine was fixed into the car yet the previous symptom resurface, according to the "Kazeem", it is either the car smoked when some adjustment was done on the airflow or the smoking will stop and it will start jerking.

I need a good hyundai sonata specialist in Kwara state that help fix this my car.

Thanks

Sir Gazzuzz and other gurus, I greet o. Pls aside frm d appearance. Is there any major/minor diff in terms of mechanical, electrical, suspension , affordable part, fuel economy, resale value and otherwise btw the corrolla (03-07) and the Matrix 03-07.
Is there any reason (aside frm how they look) why I shud pick a corrolla over a matrix or vice-versa. I want to make an informed decision sir.
Which one wud u prefer, if you're to choose and why.
Thank you.

Good morning Mr Gazzuzz. I need your expert opinion on what could be wrong with my 2010 Toyota Corolla.

The check engine light and "visc" came on yesterday and the car no longer accelerate in reverse or drive, even when I depress the accelerator to the maximum.

I bought air filter sensor cleaner and the result still remains the same. My engine and cabin air filter were replaced when i did my oil change about a month ago. The ef1 and ef2 fuses doesn't seem to be burnt either.

Please, what can I do? I've ordered an OBD scanner online but it is yet to be delivered.
Thanks as I anticipate your response.

Other gurus are invited to contribute too, please.

thanks baba. I appreciate. Getting the oem parts will be a problem. These guys can be dubious. How do i know its the original not china? My dad stays in an area with very bad road, will 1 year not be stretching it?

A friend of mine recently experienced the k leg 3 times in 3 days on a 2000 Accord.

It was pretty obvious what was wrong. A day prior to the first k leg, he changed his front shocks and ball joints. The ball joints were new, 4k for the pair. Obviously not oem.

1st pull. Front right ball joint nut stripped thread. Mechanic replaced with new nut.

2nd pull. Front left ball joint bolt and nut stripped thread. Whole ball joint replaced with toks.

3rd pull. Front right ball joint bolt and nut thread stripped. Whole ball joint was replaced toks.

Its obvious that most new non oem bolts/nuts fail by thread stripping.

Besides, on all occasions, at no time was a cotter pin installed. On all three consecutive pulls, despite the stripped threads, the pull would have been prevented if the mechanics simply installed the cotter pins.

Even though 90% of the pull is thread stripping, 99% of the time cotter pins are not installed causing pull ball joints.

Note, the 3 ball joints on a honda leg have holes for cotter pins but Naija mechanics simply dont find the need to put a pin.

Mind you, our ceiling fans are installed with such pins, why do our fans hardly falls from the ceiling? They can dance all the want, with the pin installed, no thread stripping will cause havoc.

Insist on your mechanic to install cotter pins for you.

The pin will not stop a failing thread pull. It will hold it a bit longer though.

Long enough for even the dumbest driver to know he has a serious suspension problem.

A stripped nut will fall right off but with a cotter pin, the nut wont pass.

Or have you seen a nut breaking pass a cotter pin before?

Good afternoon Lord Gazzuz,

How do I resolve the engine clattering sound in my Toyota Corolla 2003?

Someone told me to change the cylinder heads, that it has clearance and that’s what’s making noise

Another told me to buy half engine.

What should I do please?

@Gazzuzz Which SUVs would you recommend? It will be driven mostly in Lagos by someone who lives outside the country, it's likely to b driven for no more than 3 months every year for now and might be used for long distance journeys every now and then. Durability and low maintenance cost are very important to me. I like the RX 330 & 350, but would like to read your opinion about them. I live in a part of Lagos where the roads can be quite bad especially in the rainy season thus the preference for an SUV.

Also, what will you recommend for the ~10 months when it is sitting idle to maintain good running condition?

Thanks in advance.

Good evening oga Gazzuz.
I drive a MB E200 year 2001. The key (sucking key) dropped and one of the ICs on d panel of the key broke off. Since then the key has not been able to start the car but it still opens and locks the car. Do you know any good key programmer I can contact for solution.... in Ibadan. Buthe I don't mind talking to someone in Lagos as well. Thanks.
