Performance Ranking And Commentary On VP Candidates Debate by ImperialYoruba: 9:32am On Dec 15, 2018
On Opening

1. Khadija
She was poised and began very well with a brief bio.

2. Umma
She was very direct and also gave a good opening by sharing background.

I will not rank any of the guys, they all failed and gave poor opening.

Context and Issues

1. Prof Yemi Osinbajo
He displayed power of incumbency in the debate and could have truly knocked Obi out in the first two questions if he wasn't trying to be civil. I noticed Obi's air of confidence started to deflate after using the shop scenario and Prof's rebuttal punctured it. He did very well and gave very good lecture on ACFTA, Subsidy, STEAM, Infrastructure, Domestic recovery and Economy.

2. Umma.
Very honest and direct. She understood the issues and is unscripted. She is the only candidate that gave direct response to the questions and never exhausted alloted time.

3. Obi.
Was he programmed? He was responding as if he was in a theatrical play and trying to remember his rehearsed acts. He is the only one that refused to answer position on wether he would sign the ACFTA or not. It doesnt matter what the question is, Obi gave it an economic answer using China, BRICS, job creation, economy as emphasis. Even the question of trust between President and VP, he gave it an economic and job creation twist. He is reputed to be an expert on economics but he had many chances tonight to prove it but flunked....particularly on the CBN 48 factor list. He could have rebutted and kill it, particularly as a one time Chairman of SEC. He acted on script and failed to be creative where he had advantage.

4. Galadima
He understood what the questions are but he was not prepared or may have under-estimated the subject area of coverage.

5. Khadija.
She had notes in front of her but still messed up. Was she distracted, or what? Her answers are disjointed and her articulation poor.

Style and Form

1. Umma.
No notes...just freestyling, yet very articulate, spoke clearly, admitted lack of exposure in government but gave an answer nonetheless that impressed beyond what came from her peers. Honest, intelligent, open, direct and well prepared.

2. Galadima.
If he had come prepared he could have easily won tonight's debate.

The remaining three are dissapointments.

Closing Remarks

1. Obi.
Obi spoke compassionately.

2. Umma.
This lady is going to rule us in future. She showed leadership and candidness.

3. Galadima.
He could have done better than that if he was prepared.

4. Prof.
Im dissapointed! Lawyers have to give closing arguments in court and is usually done with a human face...a position of compassion to appeal to the court's sensibilities....to sell one's position and be viewed a better choice than opponent. Prof should have used that last opportunity to sell APC.

5. Khadija.
Too many stumbles. "We will restructure the infrastructure". What is that? angry Sounded like "transform the transformer of the transformer".

Umma Getso is overall best performer in this debate, followed by Prof Osinbajo, followed by Peter Obi, then Galadima and Khadija last.

Watch out for the pair of Moghalu/Getso.

Im suspecting Atiku is going to occupy third position behind Moghalu at next election.

Obi is there to answer questions and clarify PDP positions, not to school anyone.

This is my point too. Infact both Obi and Osinbajo had the opportunity to kill it but they were cautious and afraid to punch. At some point osinbajo found his mojo and fell flat again. While Obi lost his starting steam but only to regain it at the end. My conclusion is that they were scared of each other being that osinbajo was scared of Obi's statistical facts and Obi was scared of Osinbajo's eloquence.

Osinbajo was not timid at all. He is just always humble. Obi was over confident and wanted to prove he is master of economy but flunked. He was pre rehearsed in certain areas, the questions did not touch those areas so his lack of expertise in economy was really exposed in this debate. This debate damaged his credits as an economy expert.

All these debate are just mere word of mouth,
They are meant for kids in high school.
Let's get to the main election table we will meet man to man.

PDP are known for media success from the time past.
That flat-head busy releasing what he has resighted through out the night like a mathematics student preparing for an abstract algebra exam.

He said there are 2 million cars in Nigeria instead of 11million. And many more fallacies.

Buhari has more things to do with his time than attending your secondary school debate.

Let's meet at the polls by February.

Buhari till 2023 and fashola till 2031....

You may need to go over the debate again... Note Osibanjo's timid start and verify Obi's point as attested to by the moderator.

Why are you always the one feeling betrayed at every election cycle? Answer this.

Do you not have the numbers and alliance needed to overide the voting block in SW? You have SE, you have SS and you have NC like you always claim here....so why is one region, SW, fvkng up your dreams, with regions of SS and NC on your sife?
