South West youths agree with Buhari on achievements

The Southwest Youth Movement (SWYM), comprising six states in the region, have lauded the President Muhammadu Buhari for his achievements.

Mr Temitope Ogunlade, the Chairman of SWYM, made the commendation at a news conference in Abuja.

Ogunlade said the group had monitored the programmes of the Buhari administration since inception in 2015 and found them to be beneficial to the people.

“Nigerians have found it so good in terms of developmental drive and collaborative efforts between federal and state governments.

“The president Buhari-led administration has demonstrated a single minded commitment to upgrade and develop the nation’s transport infrastructure, such as road and railway networks across the six geo-political zones,’’ he said.

Ogunlade said it was under the administration that Ministry of Power, Works and Housing got unprecedented budget releases to ensure the rehabilitation of decayed infrastructure.

He said under Buhari, the Social Safety Net, the largest programme in the history of Nigeria and N-Power employed millions of youths and paid them N30,000 each as monthly allowance.

Also, the administration is feeding millions of primary school children under the Home Grown School Feeding Programme in over 8,587 schools across 19 states and in addition employs thousands of cooks, he said.

Ogunlade said Buhari recently approved the establishment of Modular Refineries in the Niger Delta to curb the challenges of unemployment and scarcity of petroleum products.

He said under the circumstance, Nigerians ought to support the president to continue with his good work.

The commendation is in line with the list of achievements released by Mr Garba Shehu, one of the spokesmen of government.

Shehu said:

Last year, the World Bank ranked Nigeria among the top 10 reforming economies in the world. This was clearly in recognition of the thorough and rigorous growth and development-oriented economic policies of the Buhari Administration.

Today, investors and business men and women from around the world can arrive in Nigeria and get their visas right at the airport without any hassle. This is just one of the many reasons why Nigeria has advanced 24 steps in the global ‘Ease of Doing Business’ rankings of the World Bank.

The government is spending more on infrastructure than previous administrations, despite earning barely half of what the country earned from oil between 2011 and 2014 when the product was selling for an average of $110 per barrel. The latest GDP figures show continued growth after the Buhari administration successfully brought the country out of recession, with virtually all sectors of the economy now on the rebound, and significant progress recorded in agriculture.

This administration has also ushered in significant progress in agriculture, where output has risen in local production, and Nigeria is now importing 80-90 percent less rice than in previous years.

Fertilizer plants have been resuscitated, prices have dropped. More and more young people are going into agriculture, being able, for the first time, to see farming as a viable endeavour. Has anyone heard of the Graduates-in-Agriculture Scheme in several states of the federation, a self-driven, government-assisted programme by which our young men and women are stopping their endless wait for white-collar jobs and creating wealth for themselves and the nation?

Power generation and distribution have more than doubled from 2015 when President Buhari took power to the present.

In his address at the 10th Bola Tinubu Colloquium a week ago, the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo reported that the Buhari administration has put in place “an audacious Social Investment Programme to the tune of N500 billion, the largest pro-poor programme in our nation’s history, and the largest social safety net, at least in Sub-Saharan Africa. This was despite the fact that by 2015, oil prices fell by over 50% and our production also fell from over 2 million barrels a day to less than 700,000 barrels a day, sometimes even 500,000 barrels in 2016.

President Muhammadu Buhari (3rd left); Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo (2nd left); his wife, Dolapo (left); Celebrant, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu (middle); his wife, Senator Oluremi (3rd right); Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode (2nd right) and his wife, Bolanle (right) during the 10th Asiwaju Bola Tinubu Colloquium at the Eko hotel & Suites, Victoria island, Lagos,

“We have seen today the empirical evidence of the successes of this programme, and all of that is evident for us to see and listen to several testimonies and stories. 200,000 jobs for undergraduates employed under the N-Power programme, 300,000 more waiting to be employed; they have been pre-selected; over 7 million children being fed daily in 22 States so far; beneficiaries of micro-credit loans going to about 300,000; and almost 300,000 households benefiting from conditional cash transfers.”

In line with campaign promises, this administration is spending trillions of Naira to build railways, roads and ramp up power supplies. On this spending on infrastructure the Vice President’s words were:

In 2014, when oil was at between 100 dollars and 114 dollars a barrel, the actual releases for capital for three ministries – Power, Works and Housing – then they were three separate ministries, was in total N99 billion; while Transportation got 14 billion, and Agriculture got 15 billion. I am talking about actual releases, not budgeted, what they actually got. Let us compare that with capital releases to the same ministries in 2017, when oil price was between $50 and $60 a barrel, N415 Billion for Power, Works & Housing, N80 Billion for Transportation; N65 Billion for Agriculture; totalling N560 Billion, in a time when we were earning at least 50% less than we were earning in 2014.”

We wish, however, to caution that these comments should not be misconstrued as denying that there is more that needs to be done, as the current administration is relentless and determined to continue in its task of continuously improving the lot of Nigerians.

We are only saying that we must learn to pause and count our blessings. The loud voices of critics with selfish ambitions and ulterior motives should not be a veil that keeps Nigerians blind to the many ways God has blessed us and improved our lot through the Buhari administration.

Haters, read below to see what man of the people PMB is about that is now making the lootocratic leaders of the PDP desperate to wrestle power from him. That Buhari is doing more earning signifcantly less than GEJ did just rveal how special PMB is the the post-1999 democratic history of Nigeria.

Bruv, look at the paltry sum the PDP was releasing to critical infrastructure Ministeries with the rest surely going into the pocket of a few who then buy 20 mansions and 50 cars they will never live in or drive.

Yet the majority of Nigerians are starving and the root of the problem, i.e PDP, still has the effrontery to blame PMB who is selfless, immaterialistic and totally focused on delivering for the masses. Is it not now clear why they want PMB out of the way?

These are raw and real figures fellow Nigerians. If you want enslavement of Nigeria by an elite few to remain far away from our nation then PDP is not an option.

Simply not true. There is not a lot to show for PDP 16 locust years. It is APC that is actually completing many critical infrastructural projects and moving at a pace, in 3.5 years, far quicker than PDP did in almost two decades. Speak the truth and shame the Devil bruv.

What is your point if you even have one? Sentiments aside, even as more needs to be done, Buhari has been a success in comparison to any PDP President since 1999 given the rot he inherited. We can all find a way forward by admitting the basic truth.

Rather I think it is Igbos, out of hate for others, who remain ever ready to reject good leadership to spite and "annoy" Nigerians. Rational and neutral non-Nigerians will struggle to make sense of why the Igbos are solidly behind misrulers of 16 years who are the cause of the hardship the new APC government is now trying to reverse.

PDP have recently been voted out . They are not repentant and continue to recycle misrulers like Atiku. Why do Igbos want them back if not the eternal saboteur and anti-Nigerian spirit in many of you?

Do you seriously believe PDP want to return to change Nigeria for the better with their Atiku, Obigotry, Coke head FFK, Nollywood rapper Melaye, uber treacherous Saraki, anonymous Dogara, pen fraudster Dokpesi, money launderer Okupe, indolent embezzler Fayose et al? Or are you backing them because you feel they can deliver the gross misrùle and chaos that will lead to the fall of Nigeria thus getting you Biafra?

On the evidence on ground I think many objective Nigerians know what the answer is as per the reason you all now shamelessly back Atiku who is directly responsible for the quagmire Nigeria finds itself in today. For the discredited Atiku, a fugitive who cannot go to the USA, to be your messiah speaks volume about you lots intention for Nigeria..

Siddon there dey talk 1922 gossip. Yorubas are focused exclusively on what will move the SW forward. You flatter yourselves thinking we have your time. Yoruba response to you is reactionary. Insult us, we respond. Profess hate for us, we respond. Take us on with bitter and undemocratic politicking and we respond.

If you don't come here daily to seek Yoruba attention then I think many will be happy to leave you be and meet you at the polls where they are sure of victory against you, the woeful Atiku and Obigotry.

What huge success did PDP record and where? They falsely claimed to have built 25,000 km of roads as a campaign slogan in 2015, but they did not hand over any good road in the south south, south east or south west. If you know any please list them here.

They also did not deliver any new rail line, if you know any please share here with evidence.

To be honest, I think most PDP fans must be sadists and personally wicked individuals. If you wish to vote PDP do so. But to begin lying of "PDP achievement" while claiming the APC has done nothing is not only dishonest but evil.

It would be easier if some confess they simply hate Buhari and are ready to vote Satan into power if doing so will oust PMB. Coming here to lie of PDP "achievements" while pretending not to see that, under PMB, the money of the people is being spent to elevate the people is partisan and hateful politics taken too far.
