Asshurbanipal: The blueprint is pretty simple. The question is whether Obiano has the people to actually execute it and not wallow in their corrupt ways. Awka for example is a government, education, services town. Build on that. Clean up the town, organize it properly and loads of companies, organizations would setup offices there to serve the wider state. The ICC should be a priority because when you host conferences you bring in business people and professionals from across the country. You give the state exposure. You sell your rooms in Agulu Lake Hotel and other hotels in Awka creating employment. But what has Obiano done? The exact opposite. In Awka town they have allowed all sorts of riff raff to lay siege to the town. In Awka with its little roads thousands of Keke operators have rushed in mostly from Ebonyi state driving recklessly. Then you have the barrow hawkers selling all sorts of goods on the pavements. Then you have buses parking anyhow. Zik Avenue which is an expressway has degenerated massivley into filth and chaos creating another Oshodi. This is Obiano's IGR solution. Collecting 200 naira from a few thousand Keke and barrow people while killing the environment for organized business. All that chaos cannot even generate more than 500 million in revenue a year. When the ANSG gets serious they will take Awka capital seriously and organize it the same way Enugu state organizes Enugu city or Ebonyi with Abakaliki. Enugu you don't see that kind of chaotic rubbish or filth or lawless street trading. 5 Likes 2 Shares |

Then go back to your backward Enugu. Anambra cities are doing great. Awka is a beautiful and fastest developing city east of the Niger and city is doing well in all facets of development. You guys should spare some time about your backward Enugu state for once. [s] mktinsight:[/s] 4 Likes

Tourism: Anambra Govt Inaugurates Ogbaukwu Cave And Water Fall By EMMANUEL CHIGBATA - December 17, 2018 86 0 The State Government has commissioned the Ogbaukwu cave and water fall, at Owerre-Ezukala, Orumba South Council Area. Governor Willie Obiano commissioned the tourist site together with a six room edifice containing four toilets and two bars within the area. The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi represented by Mr. Wale Ojo-Lanre, the Edo state Governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki and his Ondo state counterpart, Mr Rotimi Akeredolu represented by the state Arts and Culture Ambassador, Mr. Ozolua Kally and Mr Ayo Omotoso, respectively, Ogun state Governor, Mr Ibikunle Amosun represented by Mrs Omolola Adeyemi, and representative of Nigeria Tourism and Diaspora Commission, Mrs Grace Ukah, among others, graced the occasion. The cave has two hundred and five well consolidated steps that lead to the water fall and iron rails on both sides to enhance smooth movement. Commissioning the site, Governor Obiano represented by the Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs, Indigenous Artwork, Culture and Tourism, Mrs Sally Mbanefo disclosed that the state government has upgraded two tourist sites in less than one year. He noted that the ultimate goal is for United Nations, Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation, UNESCO, to identify with the project and take it to the next level, so as to create job opportunities for the youths. In a speech, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, Mrs Abike Dabiri-Erewa represented by Mr Tobechukwu Obienu, who said that Anambra is one of the leading state in diaspora affairs noted that the role of diaspora in nation building cannot be overemphasized as it will reposition the economy and accelerate economic recovery and growth. In a remark the traditional ruler of the town, Igwe Thomas Ogbonnaya, expressed joy for the actualization of the project and appreciated the Governor for improving the tourism potential of the state. On his part, the youth leader of the community, Mr Hillary Okafor, who thanked the Governor for his sustained work in Ogbaukwu cave pleaded for more interventions to lift the cave to an enviable height through infrastructural development and construction of road that leads to the tourist site, noting that it would create job opportunities, generate revenue to the governments and discourage youths from restiveness. Speaking to ABS in an interview, one of the tour guides, Mr Chike Achukwu, said that the waterfall is a healing water while the features in the cave are above human comprehension, as one can see a natural stone carved spanner, Gun, toilets, elephant foot and many more. Presentation of gift to Governor Obiano for his examplary leadership, cutting of the ribbon and dance featured at the event 1 Like |
