FRSC fought me in 2016 on Jebba road. The guy wanted to book me for use of phone. I kept shouting 'If you send someone to buy Phone for you and he brings an earpiece, will you say he brought a phone?!" 2 Likes |

gare: The law of not using phones while driving is on point. If you drive, you'd understand driving needs full concentration. Mobile phones distract one's attention from the environment, especially on the highway |

I don't like how Nigerian paramilitary agencies just decide something is illegal without the relevant law backing it up. That being said, talking on phones while driving remains a danger whether or not Bluetooth is used; it's not the act of holding phones that's the problem. It's the distraction from the conversation itself. One can imagine the level of distraction of a driver having combative conversations with their spouses or love interests, or being told bad news such as injuries, deaths, job loss, financial losses, fire outbreaks....even an interesting conversation can easily distract a driver and dull their immediate attention and peripheral vision. But Nigerians don't really care. Some make phone calls only when they're driving, others choose to text. Some even browse. Safety first. Not just yours but others'. |

I have 2 things i personally want FRSC to clarify for me. 1. Their offense sheet has fines for driving without or with shattered windscreen. Is a shattered windscreen same as cracked windscreen? We all know that a simple single line crack on the windshield will get a motorist fined. 2. Offence sheet has fine for driving with worn-out tires or without spare tire. Why does FRSC fine drivers under this code for expired tires. What is the definition of an expired tire? Some of us know that tires have no specific expiry date. 2 same tires can leave the same factory on the same day and used on the same car but one can expire before the other. One brand can expire in a year and another could take 8yrs, why would officers fine you one a code that doesnt exist. When FRSC official says your tires are expired, they will fine you for wornout tires which is not your offence. Majority of officers do not even know the existence or use of tire wear bar. Therefore there are no standards and motorist are sometimes victimized. That was how AMAC arrested me with police, towed my vehicle and fined me almost 20k for parking on the shoulder of the speed lane in Abuja. I wonder what the shoulder was made for? That incident pain me no be small. If i make a phone call while driving, FRSC will catch me, if i park well to make a phone call AMAC go catch me, which one na! 2 Likes |

We should look at this from another angle. For instance, if a robbery operation is going on in a particular place and someone close to that place wants to inform another driver that such a thing is happening, how will such messages be shared? 5 Likes |

I think the terms of making calls while driving should be reviewed critically. I speak to friends in the US who make video calls while driving, one in particular speaks while driving for close to 40mins |

All these beautiful analysis and reasons why what they deem 'illegal' may be expedient and excusable would not get to them (FRSC). Nigerians need to come together, take our destiny in our hands and follow processes that would challenge these antiquated mentalities of our paramilitary outfits who obviously reek of backwardness through civil means. Our CSOs shouldn't just act and talk only about elections!!! They need to spearhead things like these. |

NXVW:there is a black Tesla Model S in lagos that has been been sighted multiple times on the Island. The only Teslas that haven't been sighted here are the long discontinued Tesla Roadster, The Model X SUV and the Model 3 - Which is their entry level model. Pricier cars like the Ferrari F12 berlinetta, Lamborghini Aventador, Bugatti Veyron and other exotics hv been spotted here. Underestimate people here at ur own risk. |

platinumricky: Nobody is talking about the cost of the cars. You can find expensive gasoline-powered cars in virtually every corner of the globe these days. Nothing special about. Having a Tesla in Nigeria is unfeasible because there's practically no infrastructure to support the car in the country. If there is indeed one or several of them in Lagos I am willing to bet that those cars will be found only around the neighborhood of the owners. As they are electric cars the owners will only be able to charge them at home or maybe their offices. There are no charging stations in Nigeria and there are none planned anytime soon, not until the power situation in the country has been resolved. |
