I got an inbox message from one of my friends on Facebook yesterday evening, I don't really know him but he was my senior colleague at my Dept back then in University.

He was telling me there is a vacancy at his work place, that they need staff replacement for 3 positions, I should call him if I'm interested and it's on full time basis..Here's the gist, I'm looking for a part time work to do while waiting for Service next year since i graduated 2017 and I'm yet to get my Certificate or statement of result.

So I quickly bought recharge card to call him, in my mind I thought it was maybe office assistant work or Company work but to my surprise he said that it Federal Government Work (Port Authority) that he works there and the placement ends today.

To cut the long details, He Initially demanded 100k from me after I might have gotten the job in which I will have to pay within 3month - I told him no problem provided I get the job. But 30 mins later on WhatsApp he demanded 10k from me in addition to the 100k I will pay after, saying I have to give him before he can process and add my CV to the ones he is submitting to His Boss in charge of recruitment today by 10am. I told him that wasn't the initial arrangement/understanding we had and so I backed off sighting foul play.

So guys, has anyone gone this route before now and did it work out ? Or should I treat it as end of year Scam.

Paying the 10k is not a problem, not even the 100k, the problem is I personally don't know him and he doesn't reside close to me (He's at Bayelsa while I'm in Calabar) another is the urgency and manner he was emphasizing on the monetary aspect on a job I wasn't sure of as against our initial arrangement

Bro, its pure SCAM. Don't, i repeat Don't send him any money. Something of such happened to me some months ago after my pop from NYSC. A guy called me on phone claiming to be a friend of mine in NYSC(he knew my name, my NYSC reg. no, my platoon no also) that he has gotten a job at an oil company through his sister's husband who had three slot to employ anybody from his end. He said that is the reason he called me if I had interest in the job. All through the conversation I was't convinced cos I don't know him in NYSC but I smelled and confirm Scam immediately he said he would give me someone else number so I can speak with the person.
The question you should ask yourself is doesn't he have any close relative to give the job? Why a distant friend? By then you will know its all a scam.

First,he isn't someone you know.They may have gotten hold of one of your school lists.Ignore him for good.

That was how one called me ,mentioned my name to the fullest,my personal details and how he was my lecturer back in school,I was almost convinced.I called my dept lecturer told him about it,then he put a call to the claimed dept and was told no one bears the name he gave me.

That day,I feigned interest and made sure I wasted his airtime.By the time it was almost exhausting,he told me to go buy airtime so we could continue then I cursed with my whole life.He cut the phone immediately.

Although I know about a similar case but not a federal government job

It will pain me to lose 10k, if it won't pain you give it a try

That's exactly the same thing I've not been able to wrap my head around. Where they get the contacts, only God can tell.
