I finished my NYSC in 2016 at the age of 27yrs and since then I have been teaching in a primary school here in Ilorin with a salary of 20k hoping that one day I will see a befitting job, it's over 2yrs now without a job. I can't continue with this teaching again because it has been hell right from day one and I'm not getting any younger cos I'm 29yrs.

The problem right now is that the guy I have been squating with wants me to leave his house because he will be getting married soon . Within this 2yrs I have been teaching, I was able to save up to 250k because I engaged myself in some extra lesson after closing, sometines I starve myself to have savings and also because I dont pay rent.

Now I'm confused about what to do, whether I should use the money for accommodation , or use the money to start a physical business (buying and selling) or use the money to acquire ICT skills ( if there will be job after the skill acquisition) or maybe I should just go for my masters.

Pls nairalanders your humble brother really needs solid advice on how to go about this.

Learn about multilevel network marketing and buy into one. Trade your time NOT FOR MONEY but for Building a Network and earn residual income aka passive income leveraging on a good compensation plan such as is offered by Max International.

I must confess I am impressed with how you are trying hard to be a better person and how you wish improve your living standard. What I will advise is you go out there and acquire a skill , n am not talking of being a computer literate or operator. Decide on a skill of your choice, I bet it will help you start up n possibly get u a job in no time. For me when I finished as a computer science graduate, I really wasn't interested in IT and so I learned how steel welding , and auto CAD and today I own my own CNC machines and a steel construction company.

You have two options now. Two of the answers are here too!

Go and learn barbing in your area ASAP! Relocate to a low cost city like Onitsha and open a Salon! With a Salon, yoi have solved two problems. Housing and Salary because you will also be sleeping there. That means that rent is off the case. Wake up early morning and baff somewhere. Fimd a way to shitt and also feed. It mustn't be Onitsha. Lagos is ok too. But why I didn't mention it is because unless you have someone or a relative in Lagos... You may suffer accommodation issues! I swear.

Another great option is to learn driving ASAP! Find someone to teach you expert driving because the cities you will be driving in requires such. Also start processin drivers licence immediately if you dont have one! When you are done learning, come to Naira land here and request for a car. Pray to God to find a good partner who may also give you temporary accomodation in Lagos! Sign up on Uber and Taxify and start driving! You will be seeing your daily feeding money at least! Thats it.

The third option is for you to start clothes business with some money you saved. Mind you, don't invest all. Come to Onitsha with like 80-100k. Buy cheap okirika clothes and start selling in schools around you! You can also buy cheap party china wears. From your description, you seem to stay in an area not too developed. So I guess, they wont know the difference. Carry your clothes around and sell in schools, universities and colleges of educations. Also go around school hostels shouting "Things For Sell".

Fourth and Final option is use some part of the money and buy a laptop if you don't have one already. Start Yahoo Yahoo! It maybe long before you pick but if Satan is on your side, a good maga will change your story forever. I don't want to say God because God does not like evil! Am just being realistic bro.

But never ever go for masters! Don't learn any useless computer skills! Don't become a Keke driver! You will suffer! Think big and become big!

The first thing you need is accommodation... My brother forget this business business people pointing you at right now and solve accommodation problem!

You live in ilorin and am pretty sure you should be able to get just a single room apartment for less than 30k! or maybe the 35k for total package.. buy small foam,standing fan and some basic things you may need including small cooking pot and all that little basic things with a bugdet less than 25k!!!! buy food stuffs that would last you for a month or 2 and start living your life in a normal simplest way as you continue you teaching in that school you presently are.. I know there are lots of student living in Ilorin and you could eventually find someone you can share your room with and split bills....THIS IS THE FIRST THING YOU MUST DO MY BROTHER!


I believe you should be able to solve the accommodation issue within the space of 1 month if you're really desperate about it... Now, you need to think of what skill to learn. I will suggest a fashion designer, Barber or maybe any other skills you think you would be very good at cuz you will definitely need it my brother .. look ehn, I don't wanna start calculating how you arrived at saving up to 250k with just 20k salary but wow you have done well so far my brother .. forget all this nonsense forex online trade people are talking about .. you better off must of the people on this forum with that your 259k !! some great people here don graduate for the past 8 years and still on job hunt..some even get better certificate than yours but certificates no fit put food on their table and they had to resort to one skill or the other to survive on this country. so forget about that Msc shit .. education is over Hyped in this fucking country!

Try and sacrifice some time to shuffle between working in your present job and learning a skill after your working hour in a period of 6 month .
You are just a few step away from success... you don't need to quit your current job!.. use it as a channel to gather funds to enable you move forward to become a better person.. We all just dey manage for this Nigeria.. ..nobody is perfectly OK!
look, you have to understand we all are different in this world . some people inherit or live in their parents house and they don't have to worry about house rent or utilities bills cus it's a bonus for them! those kinda people can venture into anything and become sucessful because they have less bills to pay but u no get any family or parents for Ilorin .. you need to understand some people solution no go work for your problem...

in summary... get an accommodation, learn a skill in 6 month or a year. Save up and use the fund to setup yourself as a boss and come back here to share your testimony! ...

Go and carry keke hire purchase and enter Onitsha.Brother Onitsha is a relatively cheap place to live and its a very busy place.There was a time i went to Main market.To find keke that will take my out of that place,I spent more than 30 mins under the hot sun.Note that keke plenty there ooo.You will never go hungry with keke in that place


2nd.Find a friend that is willing,then open a Betting shop.More people are trooping into betting on a daily basis because of how Nigeria dey.

Note that the profits will be shared according to how much contributed.You can easily sleep in the shop thus saving rent.For shitting etc you can find your way.You are a guy.Feeding will be easily taken care of

Since you are prudent and know how to easily manage money,trust issues shouldn't really be a problem and for someone with your character in being financially disciplined,you can run it successfully.Trust me in 6 months you should be looking for your own place and within 2 years,you are having your own shop.


Ps-Dont waste your time learning anything.You can easily run the place+teach at the same time.That is around 3pm you take out money made from 8am-2pm made for the day,employ maybe 2 persons that will take over around that time(shift) or so, go and deposit and go for lessons (Find schools that teach extra classes waec,jamb etc).This way you have two means of income.

Trust me with the above,dedication and perseverance,In just 2 years you will be having your own shop,get your own placeand then decide to go learn any other skill that will help you or expand.

If you have a laptop, a path you could explore on your own with a large degree of flexibility is some kind of skill in IT, there are online training courses you can take that range from little to free cost wise. Good luck with your journey, I know it's tough

My own opinion is that, look for a little accommodation in that environment u are teaching at least, if u spend 100k on arranging the room with rent, then my brother pls continue with ur teaching to have more savings then u can start business with ur saving, just plan everything towards ending of 2019. As for me ooo bcs living standard is very low in Ilorin.
