It has a large population and is largely backward and illiterate. It drags down Nigeria's developmental stats. Meanwhile, none of the Nigerians on this thread is from core northern Nigeria. They are from southern and central Nigeria and are appalled that with all the backwardness and poverty in northern Nigeria, we are still richer than Kenya and we beat you in consumption index per capita such as cement consumption per capita and vehicles per 1000 people. That's a shame. You would expect a small "well run" country without a history of coups and civil war or apartheid to beat a "chaotic" African behemoth like Nigeria with 180m people easily. You could only build one or two universities after 25 years yet none is among the best in South Africa.


Nigeria didn't inherit any world class infrastructures from the colonial master rather left us with mediocre infrastructures. You can not compare the infrastructures in South Africa with any other British colony because they built South Africa to their taste in order to live there forever. That can also be said of Algeria built to taste by the French because the intended making it France annex.


Just one university was built by the British in the whole Nigeria compared to South Africa who has many world class universities built in the 17th century. Same goes with your cities, transportation, economy, etcetera.

The difference is clear and not like deterioration here in Nigeria. We rebuilt the mediocre infrastructures to world class from the scratch.

See Lagos just few years after independence but see what we have done afterwards in the last two pictures.

You & I are gonna go round and round in circles. Clearly you value highrise buildings over a holistic Human Development Index approach. I don't know how many times you've asked how many new cities we've built. (EXHAUSTING)

SA couldn't (and shouldn't) have wasted public funds replicating inherited colonial cities in perfectly good condition at the expense of improving access to good healthcare, education, etc. to the previously disadvantaged majority.

In your case u argue u practically built your own cities from scratch. However, Nigeria has some of the lowest levels of access to quality (even basic) healthcare, education, social welfare, etc.

We have always told you guys times without number to never compare your northern parts with those of Nigeria.

Core-northern Nigeria commands 35% of Nigeria's population, while Northern Kenya only commands 10% of Kenyan population. That's a huge difference.
