Hi Everyone...
Pls...I have a problem with my system...

Anytime I click on WIFI to turn it on...my system will just hang and everything will just stay still.

Pls what cd b the problem and what can I do?

Hello.

If this happens only when you attempt to turn on the Wi-Fi, please back up your files to an external storage ASAP.

Next perform a system restore. System restore takes your system back to a point where things were still cool. This is called a "restore point".

If that doesn't fix it - highly unlikely, then a clean install should.

Thereafter, appropriate drivers should be installed. A good anti-makware should be installed aswell.

*Cheers*

Hi.
There can only be 2 possibilities.

1. Screen- the screen has gon bad.

2. Flex- the flex has gone bad

It's is likely more of number 1 than number 2.

Be sure not to keep turning your system on/off every time...this will save your hard disk a lot of pain.

Hello.

Unfortunately, not in ways that are so straight forward grin.

If you noticed this the instant you moved some files, Ctrl+Z will reverse that. But I guess you must have started the PC several times.

A much more reliable way will be to install the software in a separate location.
Now, go to that location and copy the ".exe" file and paste it in the place where it's missing.

This way, you will be able to run your program again.

_-_-_-_-_-_-_-

In your question, I noticed you mentioned "setup.exe".

If that means the installation file and not the installed program, then there's little to nothing you can do other than to get the source and copy the installation folder again to your system.

For convenience, you could simply copy the "setup.exe" file back into this other folder from where it's missing.

But who knows undecided some other files may be missing aswell!! Thus the need to copy everything once again.

Phheewww... that was long. smiley

*Cheers*
Thanks for your reply. Yeah, the only way is to get the get the software again. Thanks man.

Hi.

Ok, let's break it down like this:

1. You power on your laptop. You see clearly that it's working normally but the display doesn't light up.

To confirm this, put a torch close to the screen, and observe from the other angle away from the torch, do you see anything?

2. If the above is the case, then something can definitely be done.

Possible causes::

.=> If the Caps lock light blinks at intervals, (every 1 Sec) then The RAM is worth considering.

=> The GPU is probably wearing out and the only way for techs around will be to heat it back until the MOBO- This is a temporary fix.

There's a high chance that a proper diagnosis hasn't been done. Take to a tech.

*Cheers*

GPU- Graphics Processing Unit
MOBO- MOther BOard

Thank you very much for the reply I just saw it,I will give u a feedback after observing to do as u have said grin grin

So guys I have a problem. I gave my laptop to a repair guy some time ago only for me to get it back and discovered that the laptop was still not working. Before I gave it to the guy to repair it was not switching on or charging at all but after I collected it back it switches on and charges but it doesn't boot. So I decided to open it up to see what the problem was only to discover that the HDD inside is not mine, it belonged to a HP laptop. I tried going back to the guy several times but the summary of the entire story is that I can't get back my drive again. So I want to ask, is it possible for me to delete the firmware on the HP drive and install that for an Asus on it?

Yep. You'd need to figure out how to configure your laptop to boot from USB or CD/DVD. Then write whatever OS you want on the USB or DVD and boot and install.

Hello.

Two key points:

1. The computer powers on and displays.

2. The computer refuses to boot.

First of all, All SATA 2.5" Hard drives are the same irrespective of which laptop that's going to be using it.

As an analogy, your phone's SD card can work on any other phone as long as the card can be recognised. SD card of that size are the same everywhere.

What differs is the capacity.

So the hard drive is just a storage device that can written from/to.

If an operating system was written to the hard disk while it was on the Hp PC, there is a high chance that the OS will not work on your Asus PC.

Hence, you will need to write another OS onto the HDD while it's in your Asus PC.

After which you will be able to boot successfully.

To achieve this you will require a Windows installation media.(Flash drive or DVD).

*Cheers*

HDD- Hard Disk
OS- Operating System
Windows installation media refers to a DVD or flash drive that has a copy of windows OS of your choice

So I'd have to delete the contents of the drive, load a new firmware into the drive then install a new os?

Q; So I'd have to delete the contents of the drive, load a new firmware Operating System into the drive then install a new os?

A: Yes.

The firm ware is different from the OS.

Common definition:

Firmware is data that is stored on a computer or other hardware device's read-only memory (ROM) that provides instruction on how that device should operate.

The firmware is the reason why your computer powers.on and recognise every device ...it's the reason why it even displays ...

The operating system serves a the interface between the human (you) and the computer.

Win 7, Win8 or Win 10 or Mac OS or Linux or even DOS are mere channels that enable communication between Man and computer.

Then what of the BIOS?
Re: Post Your Computer (PC) Troubles Here. by Razak5(m): 8:31am On Dec 27, 2018
Arthurity1:

Then what of the BIOS?

Ahhhh grin grin you learn fast!!...really fast- in Jackie Chan's voice...**throws a few kongfu moves**

Yes, BIOS - B-asic I-nput O-utput S-ystem does have a firmware that controls the recognition of peripherals.

Same can be said of the CPU micro controllers that also carry a firmware this sending out instructions on how the CPU should work.

The step by step guide.

1. Insert the window install media into the PC- could be USB /Flash.

Ok, so the CD/DVD or flash has a copy of windows 7,8, or 10 on it.

2. Power on your computer and start pressing the F12 Key immediately. A screen appears asking you to select the boot device. Then you select either the Flash or DVD (depending on which you're using)

3. Once selected, be a bit Patient as the setup begins to load.

4. After selecting your language, in the screen, you are to select "custom-install".

5. This leads us to he next screen where you're gonna select your OS type.

6. And another screen where you will be required to format the hard disk...literally wipe it -by highlighting each partition and clicking delete.

7. After performing No.6, you will be left with a single partition. Then you click next. Then you will see the progress recorded in percentage. Once at 100%, you can then remove the installation media.

The rest is pretty much automatic...be sure to select express settings to make things faster.

***How do you get the installation media? You can download it- requires good data. Otherwise get the hardcopy from a tech.

Drivers
After the formatting process, you will require appropriate drivers for your PC!! Again this can be done online. Otherwise see a tech.

*Cheers*

When you say it doesn't boot, are you trying to say there is no display? Or it displays character but doesn't boot into windows?

@Udemzyudex, thanks for squeezing this bit of info out!!!

Not a display problem? How could you have known?? shocked

You'll need to take to a competent tech who would run full diagnosis on the PC. This is clearly a display or BIOS or VGA or Processor or ...name it ... We can't know until some diagnosis is done- simple.

@Razak5 I thought as much, since the laptop was not working before and when he got it back it was powering on and also indicating the charging light which means the technician must have done all the card level troubleshooting like changing of RAM, changing of processor if it is not a Soc motherboard, testing of screen and flex before handing it over to him.

If all this things have been done which I believe, well I don't know the model of the laptop to ascertain if graphic chip can be a problem but from the look of things, it shows there is a fault in Vcore section or the RAM is not counting( problem in RAM section)

Those who do only chip level repair will not get this fault lai lai, only those who do chip level repair and understand how to read schematic diagram will understand this type of fault and also using the right tools like Oscilloscope (DSO), multimeter and dc power supply.

The ram of my laptop is embedded in the motherboard and is not removable, so is the processor and graphics card. But the thing is when I switch on my laptop I can press other key and they would respond, like if i press caps lock the light will come on same thing with the number lock. The reason why I am quite sure that it would be from the drive is that the HDD inside is for a hp laptop and not mine. The mumu technician went to give me someone else's hdd and now my laptop can't boot from it. It would show a brief booting ligt but it will immediately go off.
