Nigerians are religious and I believe that they hold their religious leaders in high regard.I believe that the messages they hear from their pastors and Imams and other leaders in their various houses of worship has a great influence on them.
I would admonish that our religious leaders begin to preach hard work, the dignity in labour to their followers. They should not welcome these people with open arms they should be bold enough to question them they should not keep quiet and pray for them because they brought tithe, offering and seed faith. They should instead caution these people be sure about the jobs they do.They should condemn illegal activitie in their messages and admonish parents to discourage their children from engaging in illegal acts.

4.GOVERNMENT

Our leaders need to know that they are supposed to serve us and not the other way around. One of the functions of government is to provide jobs for unemployed Nigerians.Government needs to wake up to its responsibility and provide jobs for its people.
In a mixed economy like Nigeria government remains the highest employer of labour. So by living up to this responsibility jobs should be provided for our youths so as for these illegal acts be discouraged. The government and other well meaning Nigerians should also help in providing skill acquisition centres for our youths so as for them not too stay idle.

There must be social security system, anchored around Agriculture and allied industry. Especially for children, youth and elderly. We need contributions of specialists such as agric economics, regional planners, agric engineers. I have spoken from professional point of view. We have many clueless people in our developmental decision making.

All churches and pastors are not the same. I will challenge you to visit one church service of the Lord's Chosen. You will even walk out of the service feeling guilty.

I do not know how people expect to be rich overnight. I have been hearing about the "get rich quick syndrome " which seems to be doing more harm than good to the Nigerian society. Some Nigerian youths are no longer interested in making money the right, legal and honourable way. Some have gone into illegal acts such as armed robbery, political thuggery, kidnapping, Yahoo and Yahoo plus, money ritual etc.

These social vices are not helping the Nigerian society. Some of our youths no longer care about the dignity in labour and why hard work pays all they care about is making money at the expense of others .Money is not bad but it should be made in the right and honourable way.

You cannot be happy making money at the detriment of other people. Yes the government has failed but we the youth should not fail ourselves. I wonder when we became so money conscious that we no longer want to start small and grow big. We now want to blow by all means even if it is illegal. We are so interested in making money that we no longer care who we hurt in this process this is a bad way of reasoning.

Thank you for this. The get Rich Mentality is a plague and ultimately a curse. Our politicians sadly created and feed this ignoble and dark syndrome by stealing public funds and getting away with it whilst doing nothing credible in office.

Is that not stealing, Corprate/political armed robbery? They set the bad examples to the yahoo boys who now defraud and in their minds believe there is nothing wrong with it... The Get Rich Quick Syndrome.

Also our social and moral mindset has been distorted and turned on it head. In civil climes criminals are not celebrated no matter what, if the source of ur wealth is questionable u cannot be a public figure worthy of praise from govt or credible quarters. U are always seen as a blacksheep of society even if u have billions cos the source of ur wealth is public knowledge.

Anybody whose wealth cannot be explained is shady not worthy of public praise so as not to encourage shady practices and crime.

We have a FAILED SYSTEM unable to effectively discourage social vices. The solution is to evolve positively by upholding the right values in society and Govt or else we will go nowhere and achieve nothing significant.

Abeg comot yahoo from that list especially armed robbery and kidnapping cum ritual killing.....No be same thing....Nawa u oo

what's the difference between your so-called "yahoo" and armed robbery?

the thin difference lies in the means of perpetrating the evil.

one uses guns, knives, etc. while stealing others' wealth; the other hides behind a computer or phone while stealing others' wealth.

stealing is stealing, robbery is robbery regardless of whether a computer, a nuclear bomb, a gun, or even a razor was used while perpetrating the evil.

so, you're still a robber regardless of how hard you try to trick your own mind into accepting your evil.

Majority of the problem we have comes from these religious houses, even the religious leaders are also out for same goal an average Nigerian youth has, for them they care less on how the money comes, what's more important to them is for them to bring money into the church, so them(religious heads) can also build big houses at their villages and live in affluence, that's all that matters to them as well, not dignity in labour or value system. That's why you see them giving from seats and prestigious positions to politicians and other influential People, and care less about legitimate individuals with legitimate means.

The thread has been taken over by yahoo niggas and "Jews".
Make I dey read they go.
One thing I know it that something bad does not have an excuse and there's no lesser evil.
Evil is evil!

Yahoo is fast becoming a life style in Nigeria. The other day, it was a report of how a place where people are trained for yahoo was discovered.
Society now sees those who don't do yahoo as irresponsible ones.
I once followed my sister in-law to church in Adó Èkìtì due to the hypes he was giving the man of God. I wanted to see it first hand cos prior to that day, I stopped going to church for a long time.
On getting there, during intercession prayer, this man raised his voice high, praying that "your clients must pay" come see thunderous amen from the congregation. He prayed for more magas for the yahoo guys.
I quietly walked out of the church gallantly. I didn't even care not to be seen by the yahoo Pastor. To fight Yahoo no be small thing oo

The most appalling part is that these yahoo guys are also often times damn broke. They can go extra miles to maintain their rich lifestyles. That's where rituals come in.

I've got a lot of them as friends. The cheap and stress free money they do get always blindfold them to reality and they always assume it'd never stop. No sense of investment, they just wanna grind, oppress and impress.

Shame!

We have a social problem. Until we address this problem we are going no where. You are valued based on the car your drive, clothes you wear and not because you want to make impact. Reminds me of some 2 unwise ones, only few have got a growth mindset. Money comes to those who solve people’s problem, until we start to understand this many things won’t work. ws privileged to visit some places this year, was with people within the age range 23 to 45, one thing I noticed is the desire to make impact, the desire to learn new things, Kept wishing many of our youths can reason like this.

A situation where 90 of us will want to be involve in expo during exams, how do we then intend to solve future problems? Things like this should not be encourage.

We should begin to see ourselves as stakeholders in the Nigeria system, not SLAVES.
