The president ,
Federal Republic of Nigeria .

Letter of Request
On behalf of all Nigeria Youth Corps I write to solicit for your approval in deployment of all corps member to Northern part of Nigeria.

President Muhammadu Buhari please ask NYSC DG To Deploy Corp Members To Fight Boko Haram.
Your Excellency sir, meet with the DG NYSC in order to send NYSC Corp members to North East region to support the Military in fighting Boko Haram.
The Nigerian Military has been over powered by the deadly Militia terrorist group and thus the need for extra support.
The Corp members should be empowered with sophisticated weapon to withstand the fire power of Boko Haram.

Nigeria ours, Nigeria we Serve.

Together we shall move to the Next Level.

We shall appreciate if our request is honour.

Thanks

I feel the burning desire in you to serve your country, though others maybe laughing at you but keep the spirit alive, I share the same passion with you, I sent a letter to the Chief of Army staff and his counterpart in the Airforce for me to be allowed to serve in any of the theatres in the northeast though it was a crazy idea but I was so looking up to it. Even made it known that it will be on a voluntary basis i.e I don't want to be given any money, but I got no reply and NYSC pushed me to Lagos, I was so distraught, I wished I had the ears of the people in the corridors of power most especially the GCFR, I would have being gladly playing my part in the NE, I'm done with service and funny enough non of the armed services I applied picked me .

I can authoritatively tell you from a reliable source that the military base(Multinational Joint task force) headquarters have been overunned and gun trucks, ammunitions and multiple RPGs carted away.
It is time to get the help of mercenaries. We could pay the Russians to clean our laundry for us. I am sure Putin would gree if we ask nicely.

Nice passion, I want to be at the warfront too. Perhaps I am being naive, perhaps I lust for the battles because I haven't seen the state of affairs, all I know is that I have the passion to serve my country. I wish the NYSC could be deployed too, as I am currently in the service, but it's impossible, except maybe in cases of national emergencies.

I admire your zeal bro. Keep the morale high.

one sometimes wonders whether Nigeria military lets the media paint these losing picture we're getting of the front in order to lure terrorist support into a false sense of security and glib overconfidence. If not, then they’re handling information rather badly and ought to revisit the strategy adopted thus far.

It is indeed a sad state of affairs when we start contemplating involving mercenaries at this stage, after 5 years. It was forgivable 3 years ago, when the BH offensive caught us pants down and the only option for shielding our balls from international shame was to hire the skilled and expensive hands of South African mercenaries.

But now?, is it that these people are so competent and dynamic that our DHQ cannot figure out a way to break them?. But then again, the more it drags on, the more it becomes more multifaceted; enemies inside and outside.

Bro, as long as there are enemies inside, even if we hire the seal team six or spetnaz, the problem will continue.

The enemy within is overrated except he is Burutai himself or Buhari. If a forward base has mined parameters behind barbed wires and signs emblazoned MINE (for future reference when clearing mines) I’d like to see a saboteur tiptoe through the minefield at night (when other soldiers are asleep) bent on tripping those mines in order to present the enemy a clear path of attack on the base next day. In other words, good planning will counter much of a saboteurs effectiveness.

As long as it is a Nigerian (black man), that is heading Nigerian Army, NA will never get the needed equipment to decimate the terrorists. Imagine if it were a foreigner in charge of NA. If he says he need 1000APCs, it will be provided.

CAS LAUDS PATRIOTISM OF FRONTLINE TROOPS, URGES RENEWED DEDICATION TO DUTY

The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, has praised the courage, patriotism, hard work and dedication of Nigerian Air Force (NAF) frontline troops, while urging them to rededicate themselves to the performance of their constitutional roles. The CAS said this in Yola yesterday, 26 December 2018, while hosting troops of units of the Air Task Force (ATF) Operation LAFIYA DOLE based in Yola to a Boxing Day Dinner. The CAS was joined at the Dinner by Dr Umar Bindir, the Secretary to the Adamawa State Government, who represented the Governor of Adamawa State, Senator Jibrilla Bindo, as the Special Guest of Honour at the event.

In his remarks during the occasion, the Special Guest of Honour expressed delight to be at NAF Base Yola to celebrate with the troops who, he said, were making the sacrifices that had secured the peace which Nigerians, especially citizens of Adamawa State, were currently enjoying. He recalled the situation in the State before 2015, especially in the northern part of the State, where Boko Haram attacks and activities were prevalent. He said he was happy that things had changed for the better, with normalcy restored to all areas hitherto affected by the activities of the terrorists. He therefore extolled the CAS and all NAF personnel for the role they had played in ensuring that Adamawa State and other parts of the country were secure. He also specially thanked the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari, for the immense support given to the NAF to enable it achieve its goals. He also commended the Commanders of the NAF units in Yola for maintaining excellent Civil-Military relations and cultivating fruitful partnerships with their host communities.

The CAS, in his remarks, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Special Guest of Honour for attending the event. He also congratulated all personnel for seeing the end of the year and commended them for their collective and individual efforts in ensuring that the territorial integrity of the nation was not undermined during the past three and a half years, despite the numerous security threats facing the nation. Air Marshal Abubakar assured the troops that their efforts were appreciated, not only by the Service and the Government, but also, by all well-meaning Nigerians. He expressed pride in their accomplishments, noting that, on the whole, the security situation in the country had improved from what it used to be. The CAS seized the opportunity to thank the Federal Government for approving the various reforms that the Service had embarked upon since he assumed office. These included the expansion of the NAF organizational structure from 4 Operational Commands to 6, with the creation of the Special Operations Command (SOC) and the unbundling of the erstwhile Training Command into the Ground Training and Air Training Commands. He particularly expressed delight with the SOC, which, with its Quick Response Groups/Wings and specialized Regiment and Special Forces units, was bridging the gap between force projection and force protection while also enhancing NAF’s response capability. He noted that, notwithstanding this build up in force protection capability, the NAF had also continued to improve its force projection capabilities both within and outside the country. He recalled, for instance, the deployment of air assets to the Gambia in support of Regional efforts to ensure smooth transition of power in that country as well as the deployment of a C-130H to Sierra Leone for humanitarian relief operations during the flood disaster which affected that nation.

In terms of capacity building, the CAS noted that the NAF had winged 92 pilots in the last 3 years alone, while 45 student pilots were undergoing training, both locally and abroad in such countries as the United States of America, Egypt, Morocco, Jordan, South Africa, Italy and Russia, among others. Similarly, he mentioned that due to the enhancement of training facilities at the 401 Flying Training School Kaduna, the NAF has been able to boost training capacity of the school by about 700%. This had resulted in the graduation of a particular set of student pilots in just 4 months, while they were still cadets, for the first time in about 3 decades. He noted furthermore that, for the first time in about 30 years, the Service was also able to conduct a live weapons firing meet featuring all NAF combat aircraft at the Kwernev Range in Benue State during the 2017 NAF Day Celebrations.

Air Marshal Abubakar expressed appreciation to the Federal Government for the increased aircraft availability made possible through the acquisition of 18 brand new aircraft as well as the reactivation of 13 previously unserviceable ones within the last 3 years. This, he said, was aside from the 12 Super Tucano aircraft and 6 attack/utility helicopters which had also been ordered. He therefore urged the troops to exploit the advantages afforded by these value additions to justify the confidence reposed in them, while working in concert with other Services and security agencies. He ended his remarks by reiterating the need to remain apolitical while exercising their legitimate rights to vote for the candidates of their choice on Election Day. He stressed that all NAF personnel must exhibit the highest level of professional conduct while resisting any entreaties to be used by unscrupulous elements during the period.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Commander 153 Base Services Group Yola, Air Commodore Victor Ndace, thanked the Special Guest of Honour for finding time to celebrate with the troops. He also expressed the gratitude of officers, airmen, airwomen and civilian staff of the ATF to the CAS for his visionary leadership as well as for providing the needed support and enabling environment for the units to record phenomenal achievements during the year. One of the highlights of the event was the presentation of awards to personnel who had excelled in the performance of their duties during the year.

How can someone reason like this ?
Is it a foreigner that is in charge of NAF, SB Abubakar is so good he makes all the other service chiefs look bad, is he not Nigerian ?

The problem with the Nigerian army is deeper than most of us can understand because we simply aren’t on the inside, Put the right person in charge and watch as things turn around, NAF was also hopeless in 2014/15 before this new administration.

When I say "enemies within", I am not talking about low level saboteurs (though they play a very disruptive role), I am talking about forces in high places, even within the military.... Rednecks. I do not enjoy laying such strong accusations, but that is the truth.

In a country where we have some military officers who are, to be frank, guilty of high treason, then how do you expect to win a war?

When soldiers are maneuvered to their deaths based on highly gaseous "order from above", even when the situation is glaringly at the disadvantage of our forces, when reinforcement are deliberately delayed, when seemingly disorganized BH/ISWAP fighters miraculously know where and when to strike, when despite calls by the men on the field to move in and smash the key elements of the terrorists in their known hideouts, they are told to stand down. It tells you something is fishy.

Hopefully, we can accelerate plans to acquire more sophisticated firepower, because we are in for a long thing.

Since the attack on Matete, NAF has suddenly went mute. One sometimes gets the impression the Airforce has given up pending the arrival of the JF-17 and super tucanos.

whatever happened to raw ingenuity? What happened to taking (or procuring fairly used) scout or general purpose helicopters, and slapping rocket pods and machine guns on them? During the Civil war, the Biafrans with swedish technical help converted MFI crop duster aircraft into fearsome ground attack aircraft by putting rockets and machine guns on them (they were christened Mini-coins). These are all modifications that any airbase workshop can manage. Even the Libyan rebels are modifying anything they can lay their hands on.

These are not too far from the reasoning that gave birth to the Super Tucanos, and would hold the line before the arrival of the expected Jet fighters etc.

They would be cheaper and can be based within 30 minutes of the battlefields of the North East given that we have obtained approval to use Chadian and Republic of Niger Air base

Why not challenge the boys at the AFIT, i remember attending a science exhibition, where these guys from AFIT showcased nice modifications to the basic rocket pod, and home built Paraplane (motorised parachute).

We must learn to rely on our own ingenuity, unfortunately i sense that our defence leaders believe scientific ingenuity is only for science exhibitions.

Really sad!!!!

Understanding Why Boko Haram Urgently Needs A Territory By Karen Goulding | Sahara Reporters

A second consideration along this point is that Boko Haram, at least the faction branded the Islamic State in West Africa or Islamic State’s West Africa Province (ISWAP), would be able to show itself as a worthy affiliate of the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant

A soldier's despatch from the Baga warfront.

" Troops psychology have dipped after successive defeat by Bokoham in the last quarter from Zari ,Garunda, Gudunbali, Cross kawa, then Arege to Matele in the fringes of lake Chad have boosted their morale to attack Own troops .while Own troop lost interest to fight because the military authority didn't appreciate their problem of lack of equipment and morale. So many equipment have been lost and there is no replacement or repair of the defective ones.
Yesterday 26th at 1900 hrs MNJTF Came under the attack of BHT they were dislodged with ease into the Naval Base Bags where they are co~ located .The terrorists had a field day till morning looting the HQ of their Armour and Gun trucks and a multi barrel rocket launcher. The BHT hoisted their Flag on it this afternoon while driving it to their base but we were told by Airforce that they have bombed it.As at 0600 hrs this morning the BHT return to the Naval Base Baga to dislodge the Naval personnel and the Army men that took Cover there yesterday. As at now 14 officers/the Ag Brigade Commander and 105 soldiers have find their way to Monguno this afternoon on foot.2 Navy ratings inclusive. Up till now the navy don't know the fate of their officers and men in Naval Base lake Chad although we had 2 ratings corpse we could not evacuate since on 24th from Ambush in Cross Kauwa where the Navy lost a Gun truck . We can't ascertain any men and Material lost today. BHT are now occupying the MNJTF at the moment and positioned their Gun truck strategically in shuwari Town .No pursuit of BHT by Airfoce for now. They just went up for surveillance. Pls pray for us."
