Hello everyone,
I'll going for an important training in the U.S. precisely March 2019 and after the training I'll like to stay with a friend in Houston, Texas for a while to enable me to work before coming back to Nigeria. What category of Visa do I really need to apply for?
Secondly, I'm still expecting my INVITATION LETTER to be sent from the organisation that is organising the training. But since I'll also be visiting/staying with a friend, do I also need an additional invitation letter from that my friend as a back-up/attached document?
Please someone help...

I am scheduled to attend a business meeting in March and was able to get an appointment for Mid March as at October when i booked my appointment. Going by my experience, you are running behind schedule.

Since I'm running behind schedule, what's the possible way out?

This is a serious matter and not an issue to joke with. If I knew what to do I wouldn't have bothered to ask or requested for advice. That's why some of us are here. I'll be travelling for the first time anyway.
What's the next thing to do? Do I proceed to apply for the Visa while I await my invitation letter or what? Or I should just forget about the process?
I need to be educated here...
Re: USA Visit Visa Part 3 by flourishing247: 7:05pm On Dec 28, 2018
Why the delay in getting the invitation letter? I suggest you apply for Visa if you are sure of getting the letter. If the letter doesn't come on time then you can defer your Visa interview

You can try Abuja. Its very likely you get an earlier date. Otherwise, you can go ahead and book any available date in Lagos with the hope that you find an earlier date later on. Note that you are only allowed to reschedule once.

If you are going to get a letter of invitation, then dont waste time with going ahead with your application. I would expect that you get your letter before your interview.

Thank you for your quick response. Well, the delay in getting the invitation letter is simply because according to them I must write two assignments in other to qualify me for participating in the training which I have already written and submitted the first assignment awaiting the second assignment to be sent since.

Alright @oluwa234, I really appreciate your contribution in this matter. But if I'm to proceed in applying for the visa, which category of visa should I apply for since I'll like to work after the training?

You seem to get the wrong idea in your head... You're not allowed to work with a visiting visa, if anyone told you so, just know that they're lying to you although it does not rule out the fact that you can't work but it's very illegal and you maybe ban or even deported...

If you want to work in U.S LEGALLY... Go about it legal and one more thing and at your age if you stay in U.S more than 2 months, it's a red flag.

Please do everything legally. Don't plan to run away after the training. Follow the right process
Re: USA Visit Visa Part 3 by flourishing247: 11:07pm On Dec 28, 2018
See ehn. I know country is hard but why make things difficult for yourself by running away when you get a visa. It doesn't make sense cos you will just be hovering around doing nasty jobs cos you are an illegal immigrant. Why frustrate yourself. Even the marriage thing is not working again. Why? Why? The whole thing is now affecting genuine people. Can we just do the right thing.

The question is, WHAT TYPE OF VISA DO I APPLY FOR since I cannot work with visiting Visa?

Good morning family
I have only been to the UK and Ghana. I studied in UK and last traveled 2016. Throughout 2017, I was in lawschool. 2018- NYSC/ and part time working with my Dad's company. 26, female and single.

Currently I still work for my Dad's company full time. But d pay is 50k.
I would like to visit my aunt in d US with my dad as my sponsor because I haven't started earning a lot and can't sponsor my self.
Secondly, my dad does not mind being my sponsor but I am still worried.

Having same company as Employer and Sponsor might pose a challenge especially when we share same surname.

Plse I need advice.

Secondly, plse what is the available date now in Abuja?

If you can you are good to go
Let your sister send the invitation letter although it’s unlikely to be looked at.
The statement of account for visit visas is also rarely checked.i know this as I have applied 4 times.

When you say do things legally
How do you mean
Folks are trying to save you from yourself
Immigration to the US can’t be simplified on these pages.

Oga mbok
Google proves of legal immigration to the USA
Read it extensively and then come back to ask relevant questions

B1/B2 is a visit visa for tourists and business transactions, medical visits and conferences.

H1 is the work permit equivalent in the USA but I doubt if you qualify for one.
I advise you to read up as much as you can

Good day everyone. I want to visit America genuinely as a visitor. I am a Medical Doctor. Does my profession weigh in my favor? Is this an advantage for me in the eyes of the consular? I know that no one knows the answer for sure but I need opinions.

Alright, when I say I want to do things legally I mean, I want to acquire legal and relevant documents that will not compromise my integrity and the integrity of the country I'm representing (Nigeria). This is going to be my first international trip anyway. And my first appearance at the embassy. That's why I have to open up here after carefully followed this trend. Anyway, every advice and suggestion is welcome and highly appreciated.
God will see me through...

It good to know you want to do things legally.

This thread is for discussions on Visit Visa. You've been advised that you can apply for a Visit Visa to attend a program. But you were also advised not to work with a Visit Visa.

So if you insist on working, then this is the wrong thread for you as Visit Visa is for visiting and not working.

Securing work visa is not easy. This is because it's the company that wants to employ you that usually applies for the visa and they must convince the US government that no US citizen is qualified for the job and that you are the only one qualified. This is a tall order if you ask me.

You can however work with a student visa. But the cost of schooling in the US is so high that the money you make while working is barely enough. I doubt you even want to go through the rigours of schooling. So this is not your option.

So my personal advice is this: apply for a visit visa and if you get it, visit only and come back home. You can always visit many times thereafter. But don't work with the visit visa.

However note that you will have to demonstrate strong ties with Nigeria for you to get the visit visa. If you don't qualify for visit visa, then I suggest you don't waste money applying and wait till when you have gotten the required things that can be considered as strong ties.

Call the office. Travel as per US? She needs to see her visa with her korokoro eyes before she starts making plans.
