Hey Guys so I applied for a Short stay UK visa on the 3rd of December 2018, got an email on the 14th working day saying my application isn't straightforward. I was shocked because I literally just moved from the UK to Canada in September after spending almost 8 years in the UK studying and all. Why will they think I am not straightforward,do they think I want to come and stay there with my visitors visa or what? Has anyone received such email too please I am really shocked. |

justwise: Hello Justwise and poca4real Am about to apply for a tourist Uk Visa on a 10 days Visit. I am presenting and account with a closing balance of 2,400,000 and i intend to spend 1,285,125Naira on the trip. Below is my expense break down. Airline ticket 280,000 x 2 =560,000 (1,174GBP @ 477 Conversion rate) Hotel Accommodation for 10 Nights (400GBP) @40 GBP Per day Feeding for 10 Days @ 60 GBP Per day (600GBP) Cash at Hand (700GBP) Totalling 2,874(GBP) My Question is do you think this break down is fair enough? and if not how much more do i step it up with. Secondly i am sponsoring the trip wholly and i want to know if i would need to assign some money to my wife on the application because her salary is pretty low and i doubt if her closing balance will amount to anything. How much should i assign to my wife as her own travelling expenses. I will so appreciate your response |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 3 by bigtt76(f): 3:44pm On Dec 31, 2018 |
The balance and breakdown looks good but this is just part of the requirements for a UK visa. Do you have a letter of invitation and what is or are your reason for the trip? Source of your income and strong ties to your home country? Beefing up your wife's bank account is not advisable for now since it would be seen as an attempt to hoodwink the ECO into believing your wife has enough funds. You can however do this if you are applying in 6-7 months time. Share answers to the questions and will help confirm. lantres000: |

I just want to say a big thank you to all the contributors to this thread... With the information you all provided, I was able to apply for my UK visit Visa in the first week of this month and I was granted the week after (paid for priority service) I have a fair travel history, good job and pay and all my other docs were in order but without this thread I wouldn't have known of the cover letter or the need to explain all other major deposits to my account.Thank you all once again and have a wonderful new year ahead.. 1 Like |

lantres000: Not too bad, but I will advice you look for a cheaper hotel maybe hostel accommodation, reduce your feeding and cash at hand expenses so it doesn't tell too much on your bank closing balance because you are almost spending more than 50% of your balance which may also be more than twice your monthly salary after tax deductions. Just my opinion. |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 3 by lantres000(m): 7:31pm On Dec 31, 2018 |
bigtt76: Thanks for your response. I actually felt i will not be needing an invitation since its a tourist visa. As for my source of Income am a full time salary earner with a monthly inflow of 500K. But what if i leave it the way it is with the intention that i am sponsoring the full trip? Your response will go a long way. Thanks |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 3 by lantres000(m): 7:42pm On Dec 31, 2018 |
kprake9: Sounds great sir. How about a 20GBP Per day hotel? then possibly trim the feeding to like a total of 400GBP ? |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 3 by OmoBendel24: 7:51pm On Dec 31, 2018 |
lantres000: Reduce air ticket, reduce feeding some bit. What’s your household combine monthly income? If up to about or a little below HALF your budget, not bad. Regards 1 Like |

OmoBendel24: You are a great man thanks a lot. I have further reviewed the expenses which amounted to a total of 2,064GBP (984,000 In Naira @477 Conversion rate). Do you think this final amount will fly ? |

Looks good to me but you need to show proof of close tie to your home country. You need to also provide your full itinerary (hotel and flight booking) to show you've made your accommodation arrangements and sites you looking forward to visiting. I would suggest your coverage of the trip's cost covers your wife too. So a letter to that effect would do. All the best lantres000: |

Compliment of the season to Justwise and other gurus in the house. I was in Uk last year for 10days and i want to apply for 2 years visa later this month with 1m in my savings account.I already have a return ticket for the trip. What actualy happened was that i missed my initial flight in lagos last year and had to buy another ticket from another airline to make the trip but eventualy got the ticket re-issued to me when i got to UK(something Nigerian office refused to do).My question is,should athach the ticket to my new application or i should just apply as if i will buy flight ticket out of the 1m for the trip? |

Hello Admins. Happy New Year to YOU AND YOURS. My husband sent a German invitation to my sister for Feb 28. But we want her to travel to the UK from Germany also based on invitation from my sister in the Uk. My question is, is it possible for her UK visa to be granted before applying for Germany or does she apply for Germany first. Any other advice in what to do is highly appreciated . Thank you all for replies and advice. |

Happy New year people. @justwise; I need your advice. I had 3 refusals last year. One in January when i applied with my family. The ECO raised issues bordering on fluctuations in acckut balance and inconsistent deposit. Yes he acknowledged I was well paid but only had issues with those. I allowed the acct for a while and reapplied towards my bday in July and still got a refusal based on the same statement of acct on the probability that the acct opening balance was carried over from the last refusal since it started 2 weeks after the one of the lowest balance which the eco had issues with. I immediately reapplied using priority to clarify these and to meet my intended travel date but was still refused despite acknowledging all the additional docs i presented. Ever since, I have dissipated most of the funds for personal uses and even travelled 2ce to dubai, once with my family and about a month and half after, alone. I intend to reapply by april, 9 months after last refusal, with an opening balance of 400k and rebuild same bacj to 2-3m, strictly from my salaries and allowances. 1. I need guidance to know if using my acct statement with 400k opening and 2-3m will address the inconsistent deposit raised by eco, without any other monies from elsewhere like before. 2. I travelled 3ce last year, SA and dubai 2ce. Hope this is not a problem as i only travelled once to SA in the previous year. I'm seeking this advice to ensure i dont have loose ends again. Thanks. |

Happy new year! Long post but might help somebody. .. This is to appreciate everyone on this thread for your support and contributions towards my UK application process. ...6 mo tourist visa granted.First time. @ekpotek-been a while on the thread. @Justwise and other gurus here...u guys are super heroes. Submitted on 12th Dec Passport ready for collection 31st Dec 10 Working days I basically joined this thread when i was about starting the process I learnt a lot from this thread about how to keep your application simple, straight and honest. Also learnt about people's experiences. This thread also made me believe i can DIY the whole process...which i did With info gathered from NL, I refused to pay any agent but I eventually paid for it...I mistakenly chose premium lounge(42k) for submission which was not necessary for Abuja and my travel date . No regret for this though. Got lots of wrong info from guys at metro plaza but with NL's guide I didn't go by their info. So many mistakes but the ECO overlooked may be because of my documents(73 sheets) and honesty. I'm ready to share my experience here with anybody that needs it. I also learnt a lot from people's granted and refused visa experiences posted here. Application brief Budget 500k Salary 350K Hostel booking Salary account statement balance 2m Cover letter to explain transactions in account especially other deposits apart from employer, previous Uk(over 10 years)and US visa refusals. Letter from employer Marriage cert with family pics, birth certs, Passport and visa pages. Copies of my previous pp pages with travel histories. Owned property papers...... I read from this thread that you are being watched and studied at the submission center...If this was true then I didn't desrve the visa. Being premium lounge service which i couldn't cancel...I decided to enjoy my money by taking 2 cups of richly mixed chocolate drink and lots of snacks. Was even chatting with staffs and other people around that i wish I could cancel the service. Was struggling with my docs at the office and missed my turn twice as i had to rush outside to pick a doc in the car.I even signed some docs at the office. All glory be to God...and all thanks to NL'S gurus. God bless. 4 Likes |
