To be honest, I don't know why being a freethinker has religious (or irreligious) connotations. Open-mindedness is not restricted to any religion.

Special about freeing one's mind from religious deception? You try it and see for yourself, johnydon22. And if you come back and say there's nothing special, I, buda, swear to adopt whatever unatheistic views held before trying with no reservation whatsoever! That's how much regard I have for you!

And I mean I will post my fb page on here so you can check I've truly and completely adopted whatever it is that you believed before trying atheism. And I will start a thread proclaiming my abandon and adoption of your before trying belief, faith or religion, and will forever sell it on here.

Go on, dare me! Atheist from you for one single minute is enough.

What you are oblivious of, is, in your atheism, which in itself, is a religion but stranger too, is that you actually are practising pure and true religion that is faultless and one that God approves of whilst be an atheist.
It's amazing, isnt it. There is no escape from God, even in the belly of atheism, God is right there acknowleging you with a wink thrown in your direction, at you.

Nope.

But I totally got rid of Christianity from my life this year 2018 , though it had been mostly removed from my life over the past 5 years when I started my quest for the truth.

What am I now ? closer to the definition of a deist.

How can you possibly describe buda as a religious person, muttley? Are you saying buda is so holy some god must be directing her, or are you working with a definition that differs to the following:

religion

noun
the belief in and worship of a superhuman controlling power, especially a personal God or gods.
"ideas about the relationship between science and religion"
synonyms: faith, belief, divinity, worship, creed, teaching, doctrine, theology; More
a particular system of faith and worship.
plural noun: religions
"the world's great religions"
a pursuit or interest followed with great devotion.
"consumerism is the new religion"

Not yet 2019 when you posted your comment. Are you drunk?

PS Football is a religion, ice hockey is a religion, fashion for some is a religion and atheism too funnily enough too is a religion. The word religion, just like the word mouse, has over the passage of time changed from what it originally meant from what your dictionary says it is

Ok, muttley. If you say so. I'm in a hot bath at the moment, worshipping the bubbles and practising religion. Maybe I should pray to them too and relate with them and have faith, belief, divinity, worship, creed, teaching, doctrine, theology et al with them too, while I'm at it!

Look at the top of your Nairaland browser mr not drunk, and tell me its not an hour past midnight, please!

It means I no longer rely on or live by the rules the society has set for me( seeing the woeful failure of our society and the ridiculousness of religion). I now live by my own ideas, rules and opinions.

Open-mindedness is completely different from freethinking. Freethinking is living by your own ideas and rules while open-mindedness is being open to or willing to accept new ideas and opinions.

This is the point that you do that thing that makes me throw egg shell before you muttley. But it's 2019 now, a new dawn, and I'll try not to do whatever it is you said I do to you. You wouldn't believe how I burn in hell for losing patience with you, and I don't want to start the year burning!

Happy New Year. And make sure we meet up before it ends! It would be good to kan e ni iko so you.........

Meanwhile, look up the thread by kingebukasblog, I think, where he claimed atheism is a religion, and so titled. He got a drubbing you might want some of, or at least you'd learn my view of such nonsense. I wouldn't want you to go by way he and his disciples went in 2018, I am begging you, please.

You will note that the more heavily they are invested in their previous religious state, the more likely they are to disappear when the conversion occurs.

But then , with all things imagnary, anything is possible in the imaginary world. Right ?
God is always there, right ?
Duh!! That's the whole essence of being imaginary.

You can't rely on your rules , ideas and opinion alone if you want to be successful in this life. There is doctor there to provide you with medical advice for your medical condition, likewise , there is a lawyer there to give you legal advice either on your buisness or contract dealing. You can't set your own standard of rules without an expert guiding it. That will be a complete failure. Hopefully you aren't thinking to live in that direction.

Your own opinion or idea is weightless if it is objectively determine to be wrong. You can't be living in your own world. That is psychiatric condition

budaatum's earlier pasted dictionary definition of religion corroborated and reinforced my point that he is oblivious of, which is, apart from yours and his atheism, which in itself, is a religion, stranger than fiction too, is that you and him, actually practise another religion, that hapens to be pure and true and which you'll both accept and agree is faultless and you both do it whilst being atheists. It's bizzare, isnt it?
