When I booked for it on CPA website... they told me that before they commence with my order, I have to mail their treasury or so. I sent a mail... and was told that I can pay by raising an International bank draft. From what I have gathered, several banks have refused to do this. So I have been wondering what alternative approaches other people used. rainazoe: 1 Like |

Esughusughu: Because its not uncommon for people in the same job description in the same company to be earning different pay. Like the popular saying goes 'what you don't know, can't hurt you' Imagine if you have been with a company for over a year, and during the course of mentoring new intakes in the same position, you discover they are earning $20/hr and you are being paid $17/hr. As a human being, even though deep down you know they may have better qualifications, you will still feel bad cos you have the on the job experience, which is why you are mentoring them to begin with. I know a company that uses a form of calculation to determine your pay structure based on where you schooled and your previous work experiences. so every hire for the same position end up earning different salary based on the result of the calculation. 15 Likes 2 Shares |

Happy new year guys! I hope to get my PR soon and I would love to switch careers...to the HR industry. I do not have any background knowledge or experience and I know in order to start, I will definitely go back to school, for a diploma. Is there anything that I should be doing while getting ready for school? Courses and certifications maybe, or better still, online courses? Your inputs will be greatly appreciated. Thank you! 4 Likes |

Landing Gist. Family of 5. Happy new year all. I didn’t want my landing gist to have part 1 & 2; hence I waited for it to be almost complete. Our PPR took over 10months and we had less than 5 weeks to travel from when COPR was issued. Everything was a mad rush! Bought winter jackets and sweaters from Yaba market. Flight was scheduled with Ethiopian airline on the 19th December. We were entitled to 10bags and 5 hand luggage but we had only 5bags and 1 hand luggage. Check in and customs was a breeze as we had only one bag of food. Our bags were not weighed since we were way below our baggage allowance. Flight from Lagos to Addis Ababa was ok,the kids behaved surprisingly nice, they watched cartoons and didn’t sleep at all. Take off was a bit scary for our youngest child as he hadn’t flown ever. Food was crappy and the kids passed on it but hubby and I ate. About 2 hours waiting time at Addis Ababa which went by very quickly. We ate part of the snacks I had prepacked. ( Chinchin, biscuit, plantain chips). We were given priority boarding as we had kids. Airplane used Fromm Addis Ababa to Toronto was same size howbeith newer. I was disappointed as I wanted more leg space. Food was served and the kids managed to eat a bit of the pasta. Everyone slept the whole 8 hours to Dublin. Less than an hour at Dublin for refuelling, no one was allowed to disembark or use the toilet. We took off again, then the drama began! The kids became restless, my son cried non stop and nothin could pacify him. He was starving and I regretted not packing cereal and sandwich for him. My legs ached, and I was tired of running after the kids inthe plane. At a point I let them be and they disturbed almost everyone. Many were friendly towards them and tried to engage them. Finally the flight attendant brought them gift bags filled with toys, bricks , stickers, colour pencils and colour papers. That kept them busy for the rest of the journey. Food was served 5 times all through but after the 3rd round, I stopped collecting as the food was bland and I was just so tired. We landed Toronto Pearson at about 8am, I filled the landing card, proceeded to custom who asked me if I had milk or chicken. We were then directed to immigration. Lao,the queue was so lonnnng. We were separated into PR and student visa. Finally it got to our turn, not much question, asked us if we have ever been convicted and how much we have. Welcomed us to canada and directed us to were we will get our SIN. We were done at about 12noon, claimed our baggage, dropped our declaration card and exited the building. Jumped into the TAXI straight A’s the cold hit our faces. Got to our Airbnb in less than 20mins and really loved the place. Everyone was starving and thank God I brought complete ingredients for spaghetti. Made a quick fix using sardine and sat her tomato. Quick shower for everyone and we all slept. The next 2 days, our body system was stilll messed up. We couldn’t do much and just kept sleeping, waking, eating and sleeping again. By the 3rd day we were well rested and started exploring our environment, went to open our bank account and got our mobile. Did some shopping also. We stayed in Toronto till 26th of December before we proceeded to Ottawa our final destination. We got a car and the journey was about 5 hours. We stopped over half way at the at the gas station, grabbed some panini and hot chocolate. We got to our Airbnb which was actually just bordering Gatineau. Really nice apartment. Made Eba and warmed our Egwusi.Everyone ate and slept off. Apartment hunting started and we were getting frustrated, we had no reference, no jobs, no guarantors. Most agents were on holiday and cancelled many of the viewing bookings. Taxi was really expensive. Many of the apartments had been leased out and only February was vacant. I was almost getting depressed as the weather was way colder than in Toronto and moving around was a challenge. God showed up for us on the 31st and we got a nice 2 bedroom. No application was made, no reference was required, no pay stud. The woman just liked me and decided to favour us. Paid 1st and last month, signed the lease agreement. School hunt starts on Thursday for myself and the kids as I do not plan working immediately. God bless us all and may we all have a great year. 304 Likes 30 Shares |

GT Bank would gladly raise a bankers cheque for you in CAD, if you have a domiciliary account with them. You might consider approaching a friend to request for you if you don't dom account with them. I'll suggest you request for it online because some customer service officers might not be aware of the service. raphrulz: 2 Likes 5 Shares |

A new year! new beginnings! May it be filled with success and renewed fortune for everyone. Moderators, big Tuale!!! You guys really did a fantastic job in terms of both the timing this new thread and a way of burying the old debates. Question: Please, has anyone come across or has insights to share about a situation where a Nigerian Canadian graduate goes back to Nigeria for NYSC. The reason is to enable this person fulfill the requirements of being eligible to take jobs in Nigeria even after becoming a Canadian citizen. 1 Like |

Good morning house. Please I've come again. Apprenticeship wahala is looking plenty, very slim prospects of getting an employer to sponsor a somebody. What are the prospects of a career in the security sector (Southern Alberta, Calgary preferably)? We're looking long-term at law enforcement positions with the government, corporate security management etc. Without any prior experience, is it possible to kick-start such a career by starting off as a security guard? Apparently the security guard courses (and exam) are available online and so can be done before landing. Licensing with the province is also straightforward. The real question is are security guard jobs readily available and is there real room for growth? I know say Salford aka Salford1 dey sabi give correct answer to dis kain question. However I'm sure many others will have input. Abeg apart from the regular elders wey dey help with responses, if you get any idea jus chuk mouth for this matter. Because that other time when we dey argue matter for the former thread naim we know say many people hold ground for living in Canada matter just say dem prefer to activate ghost mode. Make una contributions no dey end for those kain sensitive argument, make una dey show dey knack advice join for dose of us wey still be JJC level as per never cross MMIA airport talkless see Canada. Una weldone o!!! 25 Likes 1 Share |

Oh I get now. Your computer's IP is showing Nigeria and that's the message you get. What I did was to 1. close the site totally 2. download a VPN on my device (was using a laptop)and 3. change your location to Canada and 4. Launch the site again and then pay with your naija card You can also get someone in CA to pay for you. Note that the fees you see is not inclusive of tax. Let raphrulz: 12 Likes 5 Shares |
