Nigeria’s External Debt Declines By 2% by kahal29: 7:35am On Jan 02, 2019 |
Nigeria’s external debt declined marginally by 2.02 percent to $21.6 billion in the third quarter of 2018, Q3’18, from $22.1 billion recorded in the second quarter 2018, Q2’18, almost cancelling out the 1.2 percent rise in domestic debt recorded during the quarter, Q3’18. Consequently, the nation’s total debt stock which stood at $73.2 billion, or N22.4 trillion, recorded almost no change as at end September. The decrease in the external component was ascribed to the redemption of a $500 million Eurobond which matured on July 12, 2018. The Debt Management Office (DMO) disclosed this recently in a statement released on its website. The DMO stated that the domestic debt of the federal government, states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) grew by 1.2 percent or N185 billion to N15.8 trillion in September 2018 from N15.6 trillion in June 2018. The increase, it noted, was due to the FGN N135 billion, and states and FCT N50 billion. For More, visit https://www.vanguardngr.com/2019/01/nigerias-foreign-debt-declines-by-2/ 8 Likes 2 Shares |

Good , this time 2015 our foreign reserve was been badly depleted, while foreign and local debt was increasing astronomical, even $2bn bokoharam arms deal wasn't spared Just for an election they still lost. Fast forward to 2019, foreign reserves almost double of what it was in 2015, debt slowly declining, fuel scarcity less Yuletide season, almost 18hrs daily electricity, international airports wearing a new look 4 Likes |

According to the article, Domestic debt rose by 1.2%. This means rather than external borrowing, they resorted to borrowing from the system. Make what you will of that as the article concludes that there was almost no change in the debt stock at the end of September. 1 Like 1 Share |

Thank God for the heat and pressure Nigerians mounted on this government, they were on a mission of selling off this country to the highest bidder. Another 4yrs under these locusts and Nigeria will be completely destroyed. |

wow,Nigeria is moving in the right direction. I was doubting the "next level" movement, but with the transformation in railway, airway(airports), roads, and some improvement in economy, I will subscribe if,the next level is centered on more infrastructure, education, health, ICT, tourism, & electricity. 2 Likes 1 Share |
