Would be nice to know the reasons behind their collapse. Would be doing a personal research on it.
It would even help the aviation sector so they can avoid such in the near future.

Ah.. Such foolishness.
On record, Nigeria has had up to 150 different airlines. How many of your family members travel by air? Do you have any idea how much is required for running an airline enterprise?
How many of your family members complaints on Nigerian economy has been about air transport services? angry

The major reason I know is the very harsh operating environment for airlines. Without constant govt patronage, the airline is doomed. I read the interview by the airpeace CEO where he outlined the humongous challenges they face

One really needs to respect Allen Onyema, the founder of airpeace.

Go to any airport today, the i bet you close to 80% of the counters and passenger traffic are for airpeace. The man just dey rise anyhow.

This is inspite of the very harsh operating environment.

I doff my cap for the man. smiley

I'm even thinking there were too much airlines in comparison to the needs of the people. The other day on the news, while profiling Ehtiopian Airlines, it was said they have close to 80 planes. I don't think all the Nigerian airworthy planes of all the (10 or so) airlines put together are up to 50 sef grin

poor economic policies kill businesses faster than poor air planes

I doubt there is a correlation between a country's economic policies with the rate of aircraft failures in a particular Airline.

We say saw huge economic growth between 1999 to 2006; the period the airline went belly up so I doubt the economy was to blame for their failure.

In the last 50 years of commercial air travel in Nigeria , over three dozens of airlines have come and gone as a result of politics, mismanagement of funds, corruption, high cost of aviation fuel or financial loss.

According to International Air Transport Association, Nigeria ,together with some other African countries , are among the most expensive places to do airline business .

From the federal government-owned Nigeria Airways to Concord Airline ,owned by the presumed winner of June 12,1993 election, these are AutoJosh's 16 famous Nigerian airlines that no longer exist:

Totally disagree. It may be the case for other sectors, but it doesnt apply to aviation. What of KAbo air? Chanchangi? What killed them?

For me, it was lack of govt patronage the killed most of them, not really northern bad politics. In some cases direct govt interference eg Sosoliso
do your research well. Kabo and chanchangi died because of mismanagement. Do you know that air peace had about six aircraft before he was given license to fly his planes? the frustrated him to the extent he wanted leaving the country. But azman air was given license was given license (before air peace, even though air peace applied before him) with just two aircraft. All I am trying to say is that politics is what killing our economic environment.
